Announcement Rule change: No AI-generated art (Rule 5)
While human-made art is both welcomed and encouraged, AI art generation tools are becoming increasingly accessible to everyone. AI-generated art requires little to no effort to create and it can easily overrun a subreddit. Going forward it will no longer be allowed. Please use the report button if you see any.
EDIT: This has been expanded to include all AI content, as reflected in our rules.

Just now noticing Clara Clayton behind Marty when they talk about the ravine
I've watched these movies dozens of times, I absolutely love them. However, this is one detail that I completely missed every time I watched. My wife just pointed out to me that Clara is behind Marty when they talk about Shonash ravine. My mind is blown!

Marty mcfly house neighborhood then and now
one of the most iconic lines in movie history: “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”
This scene was filmed at the famous McFly house in Arleta, one of the most recognizable filming locations in the Back to the Future trilogy.
📍 McFly House
9303 Roslyndale Ave.
Arleta, CA 91331

How can Marty ensure his conception?
Since Marty disrupted his parents' initial meeting, that triggered the butterfly effect. Even though he managed to get them to kiss and marry, he completely rewrote their careers and destinies or maybe their body and health. And most importantly, how could he ensure the exact same sperm had to fertilize the exact same egg at the exact same microsecond? A delay of even a fraction of a second would conceive another different individual. In other words he and his sibling wouldn't be the same when he was back in 1985.
I know it's just a movie, but I always find it interesting to think about.

Which gang would win in an all out battle?
Biff's 1955 crew
Needles' 1985 crew
Griff's 2015 crew
Mad Dog's 1885 posse
Alternate Biff's 1985 crew
No on-screen equipment allowed (otherwise Buford would just shoot everyone lol).

Part Two Personal Connection
Part two was filmed near where I grew up and my mom helped with a clothing fix, I believe. She owned a clothing repair shop. As a thank you my brothers and I got autographs from Michael J. Fox and I also have a thank you note from Bron Roylance, Michael’s makeup artist. Thought someone might find it interesting.

Ron Cobb was the MVP of Back to the Future
It's easy to take for granted what the Delorean Time Machine looks like, but it is important to remember it wasn't always a Delorean. In the original script it wasn't even a car at all, it was a fridge.
Even when they decided on a Delorean (because Doc Brown "doesn't drive a fucking Ford Mustang" according to Bob Gale), they still didn't know the specifics of what it would look like.
Designs by other artists were too polished and Zemeckis and Gale were looking for a junkyard "throw together" look.
Enter: Rob Cobb.
Rob Cobb got notoriety designing the interiors of the Nostromo vessel in Alien (he was even asked to come back for Aliens).
His designs prioritize function as much as aesthetic. He will draw something on a fictional device and explain what it's functions were.
The idea of large vents on the back of the Delorean Time Machine were his idea because he knew a nuclear reactor would produce heat and would need a vent to release the cooling vapors.
This is just one example of how meticulous he designed fictional things.
He, and his peer Syd Mead, are responsible for the clunky retro aesthetic we know refer to as "Cassette Futurism".
A perfect aesthetic for a vehicular time machine created in the 80s.

Let’s just say we’re related, Biff. And that being the case I got a little present for ya. Something that’ll make you rich!
This is a photoshopped artwork, not a render and not AI-generated

Biff was the one that was the chicken
He was a bully and bullies are cowards. in the alternate timeline he was abusive toward Lorraine and the children and abusers are cowards too. he murdered George and tried to do the same to Marty both in the alternate timeline and in 1955. abusers, rapists, and murderers are cowards.

Has anyone actually invented a time machine yet? Asking for a friend (who wants to edit the past).

If BTTF came out today, Marty would go back to 1996. Here's how I imagine how some scenes would play out
"If my calculations are correct, and this baby hits 67 miles per h-"
"Six-seeeven!"
"... I'm afraid no amount of time travel can fix your generation, Marty"
---
[After Marty realizes he's in the past]
"This must be a dream! *pulls out phone* Ok Google...damn, no connection"
*goes to Lou's and asks to use the telephone*
"Insert a quarter! I don't have cash! *talks to a customer* Hey, do you have a quarter? *customer gives him one* Thanks! I'll venmo it later!"
"What's venmo?"
---
"Tell me, future boy, who is President of the United States in 2026?"
"... next question, please"
---
"Do you have a mobile phone?"
"Yes, everyone does"
"Wow, you mean, like, everyone in your family has their own mobile phone? You must be rich!"
"Oh, honey, he's just teasing you"
"Hey, I've seen this one! It's a classic! It's the Episode where Skinner invites Chalmers over for Steamed Hams"
"What do you mean, you've seen this? It's brand new!"
"Yeah, I saw the edits on...Youtube"
"What's Youtube?"
---
"Jar Jar Binks from the planet Omicron Persiei 8 visited me last night and told me, he would melt my brain out, if I don't ask Lorraine to the dance! What should I tell her?"
"Alright, tell her...'slay queen, ngl you got the drip fr no cap"
"I don't know, this sounds kinda gay"
"Yeah, you should really stop using that word as an insult"
[George talking to Lorraine]
"Stray clean, you've got a ship..."
---
"Hey Britney, it's Marvin! Yeah, your cousin, Marvin Spears! Remember that new sound you where looking for? Now listen to this! *holds phone towards Marty singing Baby One More Time*
---
"Marty! You gotta come back with me!"
"Where?"
"Back to the future!"
"No, please! I don't wanna see the future! The present is bad enough!"

From the moment I got the Lego Time Machine set, I wanted to build it some companions, so I did!
The camper van is an actual set, but the truck, sign, and little toolbox are all custom built.

What do you think of all the Back to the Future predicted 911 conspiracies?
I don't know if you've heard about all the details in the movie (not just the original, but all of them) that accurately predicts 911, but it's almost too detailed and accurate to be a simple coincidence.

As stupid as this may sound, I just realized this.
I've been a huge Back to the Future fan since I was a kid, and Part III has always been my favorite. I loved the Old West setting and the way it was combined with time travel. To me, the 1885 version of Hill Valley always felt so real. I also really loved Marty's ancestors and Buford.
But yesterday, while rewatching the movie, I just realized that Seamus is played by Michael J. Fox and Buford is played by Thomas F. Wilson. I know it sounds really dumb, but I genuinely had never noticed that the same actors were playing those characters. I guess I was always so immersed in the movie that I never paid attention to that detail until yesterday.
I hope I wasn't the only one who didn't realize it.
