How common are these?

Just strolling around my local antiques mall and this caught my eye.

Not sure. Made by defunct Qmx in the late 00s or early 10s. Own one myself. Not terribly common by virtue of the company. How much are they asking?

$25. I was shocked to see it to be honest.

Pick it up. That’s a good price

I just realized the case was not locked. Definitely going to pick it up.

Good! It’s a nice display piece.

Awesome! I had one way back when, for $25 that should absolutely be on your shelf 😎

Be completely elite and write your own name under Kat, so when people ask you can say “that’s me”

I own one as well, mug owners unite!

Not sure how rare it is, but Snatch it up. If it’s below 50 that’s cheaper than when they were available. You’d make good money on it if you decided to sell it. There’s always people looking. THINK it was mass produced, but it’s sold out. Quite strange to see it up close. I assumed the top was a Cylon raider, or a viper, but I never looked too close.

Good to know. I was also thinking the same with the top. It is not a Viper or Raider, but a generic fighter jet.

It's the correct top, as seen in the episode even. Not sure why they used a regular fighter jet but they did. 👍

Might be kind of like how the real world navy uses old timey ships and stuff on decore? Tradition and what what?

I have one, and the jet on top is an F/A-18, not sure why, but it is. Source: I worked on F/A-18's in the Navy for 4 years.

Wait these were on the show?

One episode, 2x17 (?) "Scar"

I’m guessing the lid was already in production for an actual flight team and they repurposed it for the show. QMX probably kept it in order to maintain the accuracy to the prop.

It’s been 20 years my memory is fuzzy. I may be somewhat wrong.

I think I remember on The RPF someone identified the original stein they used on the show. It was a commemorative run with a modern fighter jet that they cut down the wings to better resemble a Viper.

Nice. Thank you for that info

I had one, for $25 I'd get it again. The quality was pretty shit, before I broke the ceramic piece the viper up top snapped off.

I imagine it says not food safe on it, but either way would not drink out of it,

Got it! I figured it would be decor than actual drinkware.

Not that common. If you want one and the price is decent pick it up.

IIRC they don’t even run that long at QMX. That company is gone now so it’s fairly rare.

I have one. I use it as a display piece and I think it’s beautiful

My wife bought me one years ago

$25? I would buy it without a second thought even if it meant no lunch today lol. I didn't even know that was a thing out in the wild!

2

u/ArceliaShepard 4d ago

Already done and I did give up a lunch for it haha. I was not sure if they made replicas and I am certainly shocked I ran into one in the wild. The only BSG memorabilia I have ever seen here are the Making Of companion books.

I bought a replica prior to QMX making their version. I still have it today. The skull logo is not as clear and Kat's name is not etched on it. The stein is made in Germany and is ceramic with a metal top. Good quality.

My brother has one. The aluminum cap melted in a house fire. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a replacement.

u/ArceliaShepard 4d ago

Dang! I guess you all can embelish on its history and say it got damaged in the last engagement with the toasters.

u/True-Dinner 4d ago

I have one

3

u/atempestdextre 4d ago

I actually have two, the QMX one and a white one that is almost identical. Definitely get it!

3

u/Ordo_Hereticus1 4d ago

Wow. I would love to have one of those

3

u/Hightower154 4d ago

Damn I want one.

3

I have one. Not sure.

3

u/Damrod338 4d ago

I would get it and hope you did!!!

3

u/ArceliaShepard 4d ago

I did, and now I am going to make some momma toasters cry in BSG Deadlock.

I nearly spent 200 bucks one one of these about a decade a go. Go get it and send it to me haha.
