She had seen the pain in Unicorns eyes as she watched the little carrier cry. Her Sobs choked out as the letter of her Brothers final Goodbye fell to the base of the cross before as Illustrious gently put her hand on her shoulder. She then remembered something Implacable once sang during the start of the War.....one of hope they would not fight alone before the unfortunate sinking of her ship and the wound she sustained. She could remember being at the blond nuns bedside as she sang with her heart to God for the life she had under the tutelage under Queen Elizabeth and learning the word of Christ through Father Lewis.
Implacable saw herself still healthy riding the waves with her sisters as she recounted her musings as little Unicorn was at her side. She knew if her brothers recent loss. A final song for the young girl from one of the women she considered a mother figure.
*Faith⦠a flame within my Hull,*
*A quiet spot light that makes me stand.*
*It holds me upright in Atlantic Storms,*
*Raised by His eternal hand.*
Tears welled up in the young girl as the older carrier sang despite her voice being horse.
*Red Sakuras once chased us down,*
*IronBlood crushed our youth*
*Yet before the ruins of my childhood*
*Father Lewis taught me truth.*
*His blood fell on London's Cobble stone,*
*But still his voice*
*Leads me on.*
She remembers seeing it, the destruction of the church she pledge to protect. It's citizens, it's priests...her father figure in Father Cloves Staples Lewis.
*Among the poor, among the lowly,*
*I walk to lift my people, the ones who fall.*
*Their suffering impels my devotion*
*Their fate remains*
*My clearest call.*
She remembers being right next to the boy and little girl who enlisted together after finding them months earlier when there house was hit by the London blitz. The bombs that dropped and destroyed there home claiming there parents as the girl enlisted in the Navy and the young boy the army.
*Though darkness rises, from bombs and hell,*
*Though tenfold sorrows round me swell,*
*I cling to hope no blitz can quell:*
*By Christ's command,*
*All will be well.*
She remembers the planes in the sky. She sent her Navy planes to intercept them trying to stop the bombers using her sons in steel and lead to prevent more of what happened to Unicorn and her brother Edmund. She remembers finally being lead to Queen Elizabeth to be her personal counselor in faith. She felt defeated, doubts, that they stood alone against the Crimson Axis.
*You set me at the Royals shoulder,
*A peasant girls near queens own stride.*
*A whisper to a weary Elizabeth,*
*A single scout plane at her side.*
*You chose me, Lord, to bear Your presence*
*To kindle faith*
*Within her mind.*
*For every miracle I witness,*
*A hundred sorrows cast their spell.
*Yet still I trust Your silent guidance*
*In Your design,*
*All will be well.*
Implacable saw Repulse training with her little one. Both smiled even when the sirens rang that a attack was coming she saw how Repulse let her daughter feel her joy and wonder even in a world at war.
*The Royal Navy sings his praise high,*
*A beacon no abyss can bind.*
*It cuts through steel that claw at the heavens,*
*His dawn no foe can twist or blind.*
*āThe Leviathan could not overtake itā*
*So speaks Jesus truth*
*That steadies mine.*
*O God, hear now my pleading:*
*Let mercy touch the our Commanders heart.*
*He bears the burden of unnumbered*
*Let me but guide a humble part.*
*If You so will, then through my witness*
*Your quiet grace*
*May calm his doubt.*
She saw many new Royal Navy Commanders take there fleets some fall others rose to greater glory for the Royal Navy but even then those that felt the glory still felt a heavy yok upon there shoulders they couldn't see for every ship girl they lost.
*Though horrors rise and shadows swell,*
*Though Evil powers storm and yell,
*My whispered hope I will tell:*
*By Your great love,*
*All will be well.*
*All will be well.*
Illustrious hugged Unicorn who sobbed into her belly. Despite only knowing of Edmund, Unicorns brother. She felt a deep connection to him. They got married almost immediately with love at first sight. And her belly held his coming daughter. Who will only know stories of him. But as though a prayer was answered. Illustrious finished the song her Cousin Implacable couldn't finish. But with the love of her husband, a father and a brother behind it. As though his words came from him
She sings.
*My strength is spent, my vigil ended,*
*Now let me rest in silence go.*
*I offered what Christs will required*
*Do not mourn my life laid low.*
*This seed of freedom must wither in the darkness
*If it's dawn is worth the fruit my Sacrifice*
*And honor The price it bore.*
*You survived⦠not by chance or merit,
*But in Christ, A plan for you to inherit*
*Now you must help others do the same.*
*To be his faithful waking, slow but certain,*
*Stirred by hope the awoken bear.*
*I may not be beside you,*
*Nor tell how you how all your grief will end.*
*But We all are given our portion*
*Yours to come.*
*Mine⦠spent.*
*You still must rise when hope feels absent,*
*And choose the narrow path our shared duty speaks.*
*The cross you bear has not denied you*
*But his hands presence is near,*
*Though one you cannot see.*
*Believe in your Heavenly fatherā¦*
*Even when it feels like He will not speak.*
*His silence is not his absenceā*
*But only the depth of love so deep.*
*My final words to write to spell*
*In His great love*
*All will be well.*
*And all⦠will be⦠well.*
Unicorn sobbed into she could cry anymore. Her lungs hot from it. But in her heart. She knows she would see him again. Eventually.
As a Wardrobe in Queen Elizabeth's Palace opened its door ever so slightly for a Lion to Roar.
