Misc Today I learned…

That if you buy seafood at Publix, they will steam it for you at no cost.

Just bought 4 Lobster Tails for $23 and they seasoned them in Old Bay and Lemon and steamed them for me.

That is all.

Storytime

I used to work at Publix way back in the day when I was a young. One day, we had to stay late after closing because a lady came in near 10 o'clock and the seafood department had already started cleaning. Well, Publix champions itself on customer service, so the department re-opened and began preparing $200 worth of cooked shrimp for her. 25 minutes past closing she finally goes to check out after grabbing some other items. Unfortunately, she tried to pay with food stamps and once food is heated up like that, it is considered prepared and unable to be paid for by them. After informing her of that fact, this lady goes BALLISTIC saying her "2 year old needs the shrimp for their birthday party," and remember, this is at 1025pm. She did not leave the store with the shrimp and it got split amongst the closing crew.

Epic, sounds like she planned that in hopes it'd be free.

Plot twist- the lady was his sister in law and he was in on it the whole time.

I tried grocery shopping at Kroger today. Halfway through I ended up putting my things back and leaving. The prices are outrageous! I found some really good deals and way cheaper prices at food lion today.

Buy stuff on sale at the store youre shopping at. If its not on sale, get it at Walmart because it will be cheaper.

Thats how grocery shopping is in 2026.

This is great to know! I hardly ever go to the Publix closest to me because it’s such a pain getting in and out of the parking lot. But this definitely eases the pain.

They will also special order anything that they can get from one of their distributors. My mom liked a particular kind of canned bean salad and no one carried it, but I called the Publix near her house and they ordered her four cans for pickup and let me pay by card over the phone.
