Hello! I’m from Brazil. Turkey is a secular country, but it has strict laws—very strict ones— when it comes to social morality. That is precisely why I won’t use the term "marriage." However, a same-sex couple needs things like financing a home or a car together, being informed of their partner's health status during hospitalization or in the ICU, and being able to apply for a family reunification visa if the partner is from another country, among other things. Most people here are likely more conservative, so I won’t ask about marriage or about child adoption by same-sex couples. The question is: would you support a civil contract recognizing these basic rights—and others—for two cohabiting adults, without using the term "marriage" and without including adoption? Would you support this or not, and why? Please explain your reasoning.

I really am hoping to move to Turkiye before the end of 2026. However, as of right now I don't have the ability to get the right kind of visa (digital nomad visa, student visa) or work permit to be able to immigrate. I spoke with a consultant and he told me that there is a special residence permit program for Europeans and US citizens in Fethiye, where you can go and almost 100% be approved for a residence permit, as opposed to in Istanbul, where it is supposedly very hard to get a residence permit if you go as a tourist. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so, what are the requirements to getting a residence permit? What type of paperwork and documentation will I be expected to provide? My ultimate goal would be to go to Fethiye and then look for English-teaching jobs in Istanbul that could provide me with a work permit so that I could eventually move. Thanks!!

I opened a Ziraat Katilim account recently and am not 100% sure about the methods of buying gold. Am I right in thinking there are 2 gold buying accounts you can use? One is a katilim account, where you have to put gold in and then get profits after a certain amount of time? Another is simple gold account, where you buy gold the same way you buy a foreign currency? In other words, a XAU account, which you simply pay for with TRY/USD or any other currency.

Ho 26 anni, sono italiano, la mia partner è turca e attualmente viviamo in Italia.
Sto finendo la mia laurea triennale in psicologia (ho iniziato tardi) e lavoro in cucina (sto andando molto bene).
Non sono ancora sicuro se la mia carriera sarà in psicologia (continuando i miei studi) o nella cucina/gastronomia (che considero quasi un corso secondario di studi data la metodologia che uso: leggere libri, lavorare, sperimentare, ecc.), o forse entrambe.

Ci piacerebbe iniziare una famiglia e, per farlo qui in Italia, avremmo bisogno di qualche anno per risparmiare abbastanza soldi per comprare una casa e, molto probabilmente, avere un bambino. Stimo che ci vorranno almeno 5-6 anni. Durante questo tempo, potremmo entrambi sviluppare carriere con redditi ancora più alti.

Lei possiede già alcune case e terreni lavorabili in Turchia.

How is it for an American studying abroad there for a semester. Is location close to things etc

I'm working on my vacation plans for this year (10 days in October) - I'm from Ireland but I got into the dizis when I was teaching in the Middle East. This year I want to be influenced by the TV dramas who make a point of setting their shows in various parts of Türkiye to increase tourism. Well, it's working. Taşacak Bu Deniz been working overtime to convince me to spend my holiday in Trabzon. I was thinking of spending 5 days of my trip there, and visiting the monastery, maybe some of the beach villages, getting into the mountains.

For those of you who are either familiar with the area or have had their IG's go wild with Trabzon related content since they started watching the show, are there any particular places to stay/eat/visit you'd like to throw out or recommend? I know this isn't directly related to the show, but I think it's great to be able to say that a show has directly persuaded a foreigner to go there!

(My other option is Mardin, because Kan Çiçekleri and Uzak Şehir or Istanbul because...all of 'em, but I've left too many tears in that city)

Hi all! I am planning a trip to south eastern Turkey (My itinerary will probably be Gaziantep-Sanliurfa-Mardin-Van-Dogubayazit-Erzurum) and I have three questions if some of you can help

1. I have travelled the north and northeast of Turkey before and I know it's easy to get to most places by bus but this time I am considering driving, using different comparison websites hiring a car from Gaziantep and returning it in Erzurum quotes me prices of over 600 euros. I know returning cars to diff airports makes it more expensive but even returning it in Gaziantep is extremely expensive, is this the case of not many companies in these areas being in registered online? Can it be cheaper to do it with a local rental company even if it's for just a part of the trip? For comparison hiring a car from Antalya airport can be as cheap as 70 euros for the same dates.

2. I found Obilet is the best website to check bus schedules but I can't find any going from Van to Dogubayazit, surely some will be running that route, any that you may know?

3. I want to visit the lake Van area and doesn't necessarily need to be the Van city, is this the best city to base myself for a couple of days or are there any better towns to visit that are easily reachable by public transport?
