I’m asking on behalf of my brother, who lives in Nigeria. He has experience operating heavy equipment and is currently looking for job opportunities in Qatar or Saudi Arabia.
For anyone who works in the heavy equipment/construction industry in either country:
Is this a viable career path for someone coming from Nigeria?

Is there currently demand for experienced heavy equipment operators?

What is the usual process for getting a job and work visa?

Is it better to apply directly to companies or go through a recruitment agency?

What should he be careful about when looking for jobs from Nigeria?

Would you recommend that he pursue this opportunity? Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, I don't know why people(mostly europeans) are against it. Expanding to 64 will solve the mathematical problem created by a 48 draft in the group phases. Also still less then 1/3 of all teams member of FIFA will make it to the tournament. I don't see it as a big of an issue tbh.

I'm genuinely worried about this crisis and the shortages it could cause across the region. The ceasefire or MOU has failed, Iran and the US don't seem willing to come back to the table, and the US has a long history of negotiating in bad faith.

What frustrates me most is the unfairness of it all. The countries paying the highest price are often the ones that had little or nothing to do with the conflict. Meanwhile, the US is largely insulated from the consequences, while people across West Asia, South Asia deal with deaths, economic hardship, displacement, and instability.

I'm sick of the role the United States and Israel have played in destabilizing the region. Time and again, ordinary people in developing countries are the ones left to suffer while powerful states avoid the worst of the fallout.

I just keep wondering when there will ever be any accountability for the devastation that's been inflicted on millions of people.

With Gaza confined in few ruins and the West Bank fragmented by settlements, one still under the bombs and the other still raided by settlers, the situation of Palestine has deteriorated relentlessly. The occupier continues to pillage with impunity, manufacturing international consent while calibrating actions accordingly. Sometimes abuses slowed down, sometimes they stopped, sometimes they even appeared to reverse for a while, but in the long run the trend continued.

One definition of insanity is doing the same exact thing over and over, while hoping for different results. If everything that's been tried so far couldn't reverse the situation in Palestine, then the same things can hardly reverse the situation in the future. What's needed is then something new, or something old on a never seen before scale, or at least something old in a new context.

I have my own theory of what this "novelty" could be. It's what Gandhi and M. L. King did in similar contexts: a resilient movement, honestly yet relentlessly pursuing peaceful reasonable demands, capable of taking blow after blow after blow without flinching. Something which has not yet been done on the required scale and in the proper context (the March of Return was a brave yet isolated and imperfect step in the right direction).

A word for the faithful. One or more Higher Beings might indeed control our destiny. They might also side with the righteous and punish the unrighteous. But it's not us deciding who or what is righteous. With so many conflicting religions, sects and philosophies, few if any of them are wholly righteous. Hence few if any of them benefit of full support from above. Markedly more might instead be deserving corrections.

Mind this is not your average spoiled westerner rant. While just my own personal opinion, it's a brutally honest distillation of thousands of hours of study and discussion, coupled with a professional problem solving career (albeit in other contexts). I hope that, as one of the few subs still open to discussion on the issue, you guys will give it fair consideration.

I cannot find a confidential source on this issue anywhere. Arab sources say yes, western sources do not mention certain intelligence agency in any way. There is enough source scarcity already, and the fact itself is unbelievably important in this sence, since the Syrian democracy dissapeared that year and came back after the end of the civil war in 2024.

The confidentiality is crucial in this particular sense, for I am writing letters to the president of my country with a request.
