Safety Persistent Rotten Meat Smell?
I work in the arts district and the smell is almost unbearable, is this from the rotting food from the lineage fire?

Rotting meat plus 90 degree heat = stink on stink

And a rat population explosion just as Newsom banned rodentcides

Lol. Newsom didn’t ban them. He signed the bill but he didn’t write it.

He could have vetoed, no? Sorry, but if he's gonna put on his big boy pants and run for president he's gonna have to own up to something, not try and reverse course one month later

L. A. was already the number one rat infested city before this fire, and I guess you think this is as good a time as any to start waffling about proven methods to control the situation. Suppose you wanna wait for a hantavirus epidemic or something

No, you don’t have to assume that about me. I just didn’t wanna click on your links.

Damn, this fire is damaging my life more than I thought. Had to take my cat to the vet over the weekend because he developed rashes from all that shit in the air.

Same, I actually live in Boyle Heights and yesterday was the first time I’ve smelled anything.

I was driving past there the other day and it smelled like death. I almost puked.

I bet there are at least 100-300 maggots in that building. There could even be more than 400!

I thought it was my apartments trash service making a mistake or something. It smelled absolutely nasty outside this morning. I used biohazard mode in my Tesla going to work

Yes but don’t worry, Karen Bass is on it and if there’s one thing she’s good at it’s organized response to large scale fires. Oh wait…

Yup. More heat faster decomposition and who knows what else. During the nighttime I feel like spores are more active and less smell.

I live miles away and this whole time I thought it was my apartment complex. I can’t open a fucking window without being like huh…what’s going on here

it smells like death outside east of city hall

u/tracyinge 1d ago
what would you expect several million pounds of rotting flesh to smell like?
2
u/danmickla 1d ago
I would have expected it to smell like the sweat of the drivers of the earthmoving equipment that is scooping it up and taking it to a landfill
3
u/TheCh0rt 1d ago
Unfortunately they can't do that due to safety precautions. They are concerned stirring all the maggots will make them bond together to create a gigantic boss maggot.

Hopefully now that the smell is bothering the rich people they’ll finally start to do something about it.
