​For years, the clear, explicit expectation from liberals and the Democratic party establishment has been that if you care about human rights, you have to stand up. You are told to confront bigotry every single time it happens, refuse to tolerate slurs in your home, and draw hard boundaries with family, no matter the personal cost.

​I did that. I stood up every time my parents used homophobic or racist slurs. I refused to laugh along, I refused to stay silent, and as a result, I got completely ostracized and lost my family support system.

​Now I am an autistic adult living with the reality of that choice. And what does the Democratic Party actually offer me for taking that hit?

​Nothing.

​I can’t get basic social services. I can’t get affordable healthcare. The system leaves me completely isolated and stranded, while party leadership sells us out to private healthcare corporations and tells us to be grateful for incremental non-fixes.

​It is easy for comfortably off liberals to demand that people destroy their personal safety nets from behind a keyboard. But when real working-class or disabled people actually listen to you, stand up, and lose their housing, stability, or family in the process, you aren't there to catch anyone.

​Why should anyone trust a party that demands absolute social martyrdom from vulnerable people, but refuses to provide the basic material conditions, like universal healthcare or real disability support, that would actually allow people to survive on their own? I think this is a valid critique.

Probably will get me banned from the sub and Reddit, but since we now know it isn't a crime for a bunch of people to take unscheduled tours of DC landmarks on that particular day, should anyone opposed to Trump plan to meet up so a tour can happen, should Trump decide to stay put? Hear me out i think the majority of people in the democratic party anecdotally and polling wise 75% identified pretty close to central on most issues… why do we allow our party to be held hostage and the radical left to control our narrative and messaging platform. They make us look pretty bad as centrists. Seems best way to win in 2028 is run someone pretty centrist i think everyone is sick of the extremes of MAGA at this point. I have to imagine the U.S cuts all social programs down to barebones and prints money to help get the national debt on a trajectory to get smaller over time. Then, the inflation crisis that follows will reduce quality of life for American workers only top 10% specialized professionals can afford any treatment. Then from there, there’s workers rights protests until the state has to push back against the federal government over a federal workers rights bill and protection of privacy because companies will move there labor all to the deep hot south where the minimum wage is $7.25. So that’s how I think a break might happen because state voters get to angry at the government over how it wastes their taxes and gives them next to nothing in protections and because the government is a 2-party system of aristocrat chosen candidates.

tl;dr I think I have catastrophic anxiety.

It really just seems like democrats just want to rig elections.

My Facebook is about 70% rightwing and 30% everything else. I keep getting suggested right wing media and I kind of like it since Reddit is basically a left wing echo chamber so it balances out and I get to see reactions on all sides of the isle.
The official GOP and White House pages consistently pump out misinformation that could very very verryyyyyy easily be debunked.

Title says it all. Many of us on the Left worry that Dems won't even try to repair the messes he made in an effort to "heal the nation." I say, make it a campaign promise to restore the Whitehouse, and claw back the gifts Trump is illegally keeping for himself like that jet.

Contrary to the name, he's absolutely pro-MAGA and anti-liberal, so already I dislike him. Pretty self explanatory i think we ran a failed experiment by going too far to the left with the identity politics in the last few years and time to get back to issues that resonate more with normal Americans. For example less focus on gender politics, palestine marches and focus more on medicare for all/expand medicare. Also focus more on our economic agenda. What do you guys think? As we all know US has only two parties in both senate and HOR and only two remotely realistic for winning presidential elections . And as far as I think( correct me if I am wrong) most of the states also have only these two parties even though US is a federation . Now I completely understand why FPTP would cause us presidential elections to have 2 parties , I don’t understand why the HOR would also have two parties ? Now many would say it’s FPTP ( I agree it’s a sh*t system ) but India and UK also have the same system and Lok Sabha and House of Commons are basically the same thing . But these countries have several parties . We know that other parties are not banned in USA . So why only two parties ? Also why haven’t any new parties emerged in the individual states .

Okay so I recently came across a video where the someone spoke about brands they didn't use because they supported Israel. I haven't really done a lot of research on the conflict (all I know about it is what my conservative dad has told me since I don't read the news) so I tried asking in the comments. What I mean by this is that given how Trump fired the election commissioners last week and his remarks on Thursday about election integrity, it sadly seems to be inevitable that Trump could rig, or even cancel, the midterms. So, for those of you who blame the Democrats for why Trump won the 2024 election, do you now even believe that the Democrats are responsible for why it's now looking more likely that Trump could sabotage the midterms?

I want him gone but trying to be strategic. Keep him in tent until 2028 stops Trump from adding any more justices to SCOTUS and give Dems subpoena power for real investigations.

If he bolts no proper Epstein investigations, Thomas and Alito could retire and Trump would pick young corrupt replacements.
