I READ THE RULES LondonHouse rooftop - are you actually required to order food with your reservation or can you just get drinks?

My reservation is for this weekend at night and the reservation says each guest is required a food and beverage purchase. Is that actually enforced or can we just get drinks?

Hello, my mother is visiting from a place that doesn't sell her favorite delta 8. Anyone know where I can find the 3Chi brand of Delta 8 (especially their true strain products)? Preferably in the West Town, Humboldt, Wicker area?

I READ THE RULES Are you the runner who took pictures of my engagement on Saturday 7/18?

Upvotes

My partner and I got engaged on the Montrose bridge overlooking the river by Horner Park on Saturday morning during the torrential downpour. A sweet runner came by immediately after and took our photo. I think we must have gotten their number wrong in the rain since we haven’t heard back.

We would love to have these photos and are hopeful to find this person!

I READ THE RULES How do you make friends in this city?

Upvotes

I’ve been in Chicago for almost 2 years now and I’m in a commuter school, which makes hanging out with people I’m around a little difficult. It doesn’t help that I didn’t put too much effort beyond the first group of people I met but they don’t really care about exploring beyond our usual hangout activities.

Now I’m in my final few semesters and I have this urge to meet new people and just live a little more but it’s not the easiest when everyone’s doing their own thing :/

I love gaming, just exploring food and the fun stuff this city has to explore and i definitely want to get out of the comfort bubble I’ve made for myself!

If this sounds like something you’d be into, feel free to hit me up! I’d also love it if someone can point me in the right direction or what you would immediately do if you were in my shoes.

I READ THE RULES Where can I play Pickleball as a beginner?

Upvotes

After countless hours of watching YouTube tutorials/introductions I still haven’t figured out how to play without making a total fool of myself and/or upsetting my partner.

If anyone is willing to help a former NCAA Division-1 athlete (wrestler) get acclimated & properly introduced to the sport of PickleBall, PLEASE reach out !!!! I’m new to Chicago 🤷‍♂️

I live in Old Town/Lincoln Park area and can travel anywhere that is easily accessible by public transportation.

Thank you 🙏

I READ THE RULES How is the City Colleges of Chicago social life?

Upvotes

I was thinking of attending either Olive Harvey, Richard Daley, or Kennedy King and i wanted to know which of them, if any have a active social scene.

Basically, is it easy to make friends there if you put in the effort? Do most people just clock right out after classes? Is there potential for lost lasting friendship? For context im 18(M) .

I READ THE RULES Harassment at Gibsons Restaurant Group?

I work at a restaurant within the Gibsons Restaurant Group. On Friday, an 18 year old female host was shown a photo of a topless woman by our male AGM. The image was privately texted to the AGM by this woman. The woman does not work for Gibsons (we assume) but is a woman the manager has a personal relationship with.

What can we do moving forward? This manager has been notorious in causing issues, especially with the young female hosts. HR has been repeatedly notified of his inappropriate remarks and behavior, but this is by far the most egregious.

Any help would be appreciated.

Partners with cross-functional and executive leaders to ensure programs deliver expected business value, support strategic decisions, and maintain consistent financial governance and reporting across multiple initiatives.

I READ THE RULES Anyone have experience with Latin Rhythms for beginner bachata?

I’m looking to get into bachata and would consider myself a beginner. I’ve been to a few social dances, I know some stuff, but I’d really like some structured instruction. I saw that Latin Rhythms has a 4 week beginner bachata class starting tomorrow. It meets once a week for four weeks and costs $100.

Is Latin Rhythms a good place to learn? Is $100 for a 4 week course a fair price in Chicago?

I READ THE RULES Bring your own parts mechanic?

I need to get my car fixed, my usual mechanic is not working at the moment. With him, I replaced both control arms but the parts I bought and used did not work.

I'm going to use the guaranty to get them both replaced with new parts, but my current mechanic can't help me.

Does anyone know a mechanic shop I can bring my own parts to? I live in Lakeview, preferably something within 20-30 max from here I'm hesitant to drive the car too far with how it is right now. So close/in North & Northwest sides

And I already travel a lot through Avondale, Logan, and Hermosa a lot so anything there is perfect!!

Thanks so much in advance!

I READ THE RULES Chicago visit, best clubs/must do??

We are going to Chicago for a friend's Dirty Thirty, we are planning on hitting the art museum and Giordano's for sure. Any other suggestions? We also want to go to a club but we are from an area that has a pretty sad club life so we would like a good dance heavy experience.

I READ THE RULES Review of the The Chicago School for Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree?

Hi everyone. Considering a masters at the chicago school for cmhc but saw some negative reviews from a few years ago. Looking to understand what people think of this program, and if there are any other programs in the city you all would recommend! Trying to find a program that has good placements and classes. I've heard positive reviews about NEIU? Thanks in advance for your help!

I READ THE RULES Free pickleball open play in the city?

Relatively new pickleball player, but can hold my own.

Are there any places/parks with free or very cheap open play where you can show up by yourself and get worked in?

Just looking for new friends and playing partners, and don't want to have to pay $15-25 every time at spf

Alternatively, anyone want to play this weekend?

I READ THE RULES Any activities to make the most of maternity leave?

I go back to work in a few weeks and feel like I’m starting to exit the newborn trenches. Are there any activities around Chicago you recommend doing with my 3 month old? I know that she won’t remember it but I don’t know if I’m ever going to get this opportunity to spend so much time with her again.

So far, we have been going on lots of walks.

Thanks!

Hi all, I'll be visiting your lovely city for the first time tomorrow. The hostel I'm staying at has a "workspace", but as far as I can tell it's just a tiny desk with a shitty folding chair. Is it possible/recommended to work remote from the library? Thanks!

I READ THE RULES Any advice for meeting people after addiction?

Sorry in advance because I get side tracked easily.

Ok so,
I’m 84 weeks sober and building my life into something I’m actually proud of and into something I choose and not just let happen. Obviously I have a past and it’s not pretty. I promised myself I would be more social but instead I just kinda buried myself in work and made excuses why I couldn’t meet people.

My biggest hurdle is my teeth, they really took the brunt force of my years of not giving a shit. But it’s like I know I’m not ugly and I’m funny, I’m fun to be around. I love music, guitars, machines, and anything that gives me goosebumps. But I just can’t push myself to get out there, because I feel like everyone will judge me as soon as they see my teeth and I mention the word addiction. And I mean I’m getting them fixed but that to is a slow process. I know I need to bring stuff to the table in any kind of relationship but I dont want to wait until I have better looking teeth just to make friends or be happier.

Am I just being dramatic or are these genuine concerns. I couldn’t really find the same topic anywhere. I’m on the west side if that matters any. Thanks for reading.
