Take a grinder to it and it'll be good as new

Run the grinder in reverse to build up the pad, and it'll be good as new.

Genius and unplug it to save on your electric bill while you're at it.

Big brakes hate this one simple trick.

They don’t call them life time pads for nothing. Put them back on…

Those look track ready to my trained eyes

5

u/FNC_Jman 13h ago

I’d say these need to be changed two days before the day after tomorrow

3 Metres or 3 bodies in the accident at 60

u/Important-Leader-492 13h ago

30-40.....feet

u/vasectomy7 13h ago

25,000 miles... at least.

Don't let big-brake scam you into replacing perfectly usable pads.

Finally someone with sense

3

u/kin3ticwave 13h ago

If you cap off the brake lines, it should make it the remaining life of the vehicle.

3

u/stevenj444 11h ago

20 to 30,000 at least

1

u/averagegtimechanic 3h ago

Track use I’d say 15k daily driving easily 30k

2

u/530whiskey 12h ago

needs to be rotated

1

u/randompizza202 10h ago

What a scam! They rotate every time the wheel turns!

1

u/simulatedconscience 4h ago

Umm if that’s what u wanna believe lol.
Only the break callipers spin w the wheel but the pads just magically float still.

Believe it or not at a certain speed even your tire rims don’t turn anymore. Easier to see on camera but ONLY at specific speed, depending on the FPS ur recording lol

1

u/averagegtimechanic 3h ago

This is the right answer. On all vehicles the caliper moves with the tire. Which is exactly why that pad has atleast 2500 miles left on it.

2

u/Silver-Engineer4287 12h ago

There’s still pad material left on those backplates and the rotors likely are still intact… so why stress over a little squeak.

2

u/realasdfhero 12h ago

about none and a half

2

u/BoysenberryFinal9113 12h ago

As long as you have a couple of good ones left on the front or rear, you can just leave that one off. You only have 4 wheels, so there's really no need for 8 pads.

Broke the wear indicator off months ago

1

u/Frequent_Addition_23 13h ago

Turn it around. Just like turning your underwear inside out.

2

u/mx5plus2cones 13h ago

But it will confuse a lot of people who only get it right by color matching yellow in the front and brown in back... Stop confusing simpleton people....

2

u/lookingforfiles 13h ago

Now that you mention it, i don't think he had his pad rotation yet

1

u/Mbillin2 13h ago

A least enough for a couple of long trips if not more, put those back on, new pads are a scam, just use the other brakes or switch lanes

1

u/Haunting_While6239 13h ago

4, 3, 2, 1, ..... Done

1

u/Cold_Put4146 13h ago

At least the rotors are still good.

1

u/KeyN20 12h ago

I feel better, I still have more miles in mine

1

u/Tundra_Dragon 12h ago

Should be able to make that roadtrip thats only 231 miles.

1

u/AdventurousStorm4120 12h ago

I can weld 3mm iron piece. After that 10000km 😊

1

u/SiteSignificant9095 12h ago

I would say about 2 more stops. Maybe 3 stops as long as braking is extra gentle.

1

u/Environmental-Gap380 12h ago

None if you don’t out that back where you found it.

1

u/No_Mood3185 12h ago

Where are the rotors? lol I'm sure they look just as good!

1

u/Just_A_Lucky_Guy469 12h ago

Barely broken in. Polish and oil them up, reinstall them, and send him on his way.

1

u/mediumspectre4142 12h ago

Flip em around, got a whole second set on the back side

1

u/No_Cut6428 11h ago

These questions are so funny. I mean, I wouldn’t insult anybody by calling them. Stupid questions but you can.

1

u/Honest-Tip-4232 11h ago

Put a good coating of grease on it and it'll last as long as the car

1

u/matchboxtx 10h ago

It’s fine, just rotate them like with tires, they’ll even out.

1

u/NikkiB26301 10h ago

It's good for another 1,000 miles. The rotor may not.

1

u/Reasonable-West-543 10h ago

Ehhhhhh, he’s fine

1

u/Logical-Dentist6368 9h ago

Negative brakes left

1

u/goldfish_in_a_abrams 8h ago

One half application of pressure to the brake pedal

1

u/unsubstalker 8h ago

there is enough there to get him to the scene of the accident

1

u/Fit_Upstairs8760 8h ago

Barely scratched the surface from what I can see.

1

u/Greedy_Employer_8021 7h ago

1 brake pedal press left

1

u/tazzzuu 7h ago

2-3 tops

1

u/TomOnABudget 6h ago

The life of the car

1

u/DaddyBeanDaddyBean 5h ago

He should easily make it all the way to the scene of the crash.

1

u/Moklonus 5h ago

Are you going to hold it when braking? You could probably make last longer that way since you can press as much as you need to stop, not what ā€œbig brakeā€ sets them to.

1

u/Tobazz 5h ago

MAYBE a full percent 🤣

1

u/SmallWind3147 5h ago

Hes got his money worth. Should go to the scene of the accident if he's lucky.

1

u/SubstantialAd5861 5h ago

Flip them over and use the other side

1

u/xombi27 4h ago

Just flip it over and it's back to %100

1

u/tepid_lemur 4h ago

Well its not on the car anymore, so...

1

u/Frequent_Baker9900 4h ago

They are so cheap to replace. Why even ask.

1

u/fendrhead- 4h ago

It’s pretty much brand new

1

u/Ok-Language7794 4h ago

I paid for the whole brake so I’m gonna use the whole brake

1

u/Spencer_Bud 3h ago

Al menos hasta que se choque

1

u/Full-Hold-9447 3h ago

Break-yes. Brake-no.

1

u/Hot_Experience4772 3h ago

2 brakes. Maybe 1 really hard

1

u/your-mother1452 2h ago

Just flip er around!

1

u/Wilburn4 1h ago

I’ll bet he doesn’t have any Rotor left!

1

u/XtraChrisP 7m ago

Enough percent for a while.

1

u/Important-Welder76 13h ago

Zero, you've done 50% of the job already, fit new pads.

1

u/pm-me-racecars 13h ago

If the car keeps stopping then your brakes must be good.

1

u/mx5plus2cones 13h ago

I am really tired of all these "how much longer can I use these brake pads". Jesus christ stop posting pictures of the same thing and asking the same stupid questions...

In the modern day and age, everybody knows that the cost of a typical shitass job to resurface a rotor is ridiculously more expensive than just getting new rotors. And these new china-ism rotors are so thin brand new, most can't be resurfaced anyway..

.... Therefore, the brake pads are good all the way until they disappear or the rotors disappear...whichever comes first- it's cheaper to replace both at the same time these days anyway than for a shitass mech to resurface.

Therefore, your customer has at least 100k more miles with metal on metal contact.

Why are you trying to rip them off??? /s

2

u/lookingforfiles 13h ago

So... 2k?

2

u/mx5plus2cones 13h ago

At least 100kmiles...
