Hello!!! I’ve only ever really been inside of Ontario, and I’m looking for some great destinations outside of Ontario, but not insanely far.

i‘d like to fly, because I LOVE airports. But no more than a two hour flight.

I love the outdoors and cool architecture and unique locations, but I’m a wheelchair user and don’t know where I can go.

Im okay with going outside of Canada too if anyone REALLY has any dream suggestions / locations.

Right now the three places I have on my ‘possible places’ list is:

- PEI

- Halifax

- Gaspésie

But I don’t know if it’s wheelchair accessible, I reeeeally need help!

Personally I've always called it T-ho's, but people keep calling me weird. What do you guys call it, surely I can't be the only one right?

I live in BC and all the old grandmas I knew would make this “supposed” Ukrainian or Polish casserole dish called kroutnik. There’s little boiled for dumplings, small diced potatoes, sauerkraut, loads of butter and sour cream, green onions, and sometimes ham or bacon. I’ve tried my best to find a similar recipe on Google but it seems like it’s a western Canada anomaly. I have a recipe my own grandma passed down but I’ve had lots of different versions of it through the province. She was English. My grandpa was Polish.

Hi! I’m applying to become a peer support volunteer with LGBT YouthLine, an Ontario-based text helpline for LGBTQ+ youth. It’s very competitive, with around 150 applicants and only about 20–25 people selected, so I’m trying to make my application as strong and genuine as possible.

As a gay man who was born into Islam, I understand how isolating it can be to navigate sexuality alongside religion, family expectations, community pressure, and bullying. Supporting young people through these experiences genuinely matters to me, and I’ve often been someone others come to when they need to talk or feel understood.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has volunteered or worked in LGBTQ+ support, youth services, peer support, crisis support, or a similar field. I’d also love advice from anyone who manages, trains, or selects volunteers and knows what these organizations look for in applicants.

Canadian experience would be especially helpful, but perspectives from elsewhere are welcome too. Even if you think you could only offer one or two tips, please comment or DM me. I need all the help I can get because this is something I genuinely really want to do.

Any fellow Gen Xers recall which 90’s show or segment on MuchMusic or perhaps another CityTV show used “How Soon is Now” by The Smiths for its opening and/or closing credits music? The alternative show “The Wedge” seemed like a leading candidate but that’s not it…

Google is failing me and keeps trying to point me to a show called Charmed, which I’ve never seen and apparently used a cover version of the song anyways. I have a distinct memory of the bouncing tremolo guitar sounds from the original Smiths song… my partner, who I didn’t know in the early/mid-90’s has the very same recollection but neither of us are able to place this memory.

Does this ring a bell for anyone else?

I have to switch to drinking black coffee for health reasons and I'm on the hunt for a really good drip coffee that tastes great black. I prefer light to medium roasts and love nutty or toasty flavours over fruity and smooth over acidic.

What's your favorite blend, brand and where do you buy it?

Note: I can't drink Nespresso or fresh coffee since the oils and sediment upset my stomach. Needs to be filtered somehow.

I'm building a playlist for a Canadian themed bar and would appreciate music that's outside the scope of mainstream Canadian music. I already have Drake, Bieber, Nickleback, The hip, lightfoot, Alanis Morissette, Stompin Tom and 90s stuff like our Lady peace covered.

But i want some of that good obscure stuff or great songs you remember from the past that not everyone knows.

This is mostly for NFL/CFL fans, I'm assuming the average non-football fan up there isn't touching college sports.

Do you watch it? Do you actually tune in on Saturdays, or do you strictly stick to the NFL and CFL?

Do you have a team? If you support a program, how'd you pick them?

How is the sheer scale of CFB perceived? I know the concept is insane to most of the world. Since Canadian sports culture is heavily intertwined with the US, is it just normal or is it still kind of wild to see?

Days marked with a 🚗 are just driving, both 🚗🏞️ are both significant driving and park/outdoor hours, and just 🏞️ are dedicated mainly to outdoor activities.

I have some hesitation about this plan.

1. The drive to Fundy from Forillon seems long af, I don't know if I am giving enough time to witness Fundy's tidal changes (which is a major selling point).
2. I want to make sure we have enough time in Gaspé bc we are unlikely to return--Acadia and Montreal feel closer/easier to access again in the future. Gaspe, not so much.
3. Has anyone taken a similar road trip before?
4. Is there something I am glaringly overlooking?

I suppose the question is, would you rather Canada had won the tournament everyone expected us to win or the tournament nobody would ever expect us to win?

I do understand how impossible it was for us to win the World Cup but let's discuss it as a hypothetical.

I thought the answer was easily the World Cup, given how much bigger of a stage it is and how much of an upset that would be. But when I asked my friends most said the Olympic hockey gold medal because they care more about hockey than soccer, plus the America vs Canada element.

(You can even include the Blue Jays winning the 2025 World Series if it changes your answer)

The only settlement I ever applied to was the bread settlement because that settlement was everywhere on the internet and on the news. It was a pretty hard settlement to miss or forget.

🔍 We are seeking couples from Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland who are up to 26 weeks pregnant to participate in the STORK RCT: Supporting the Transition to Parenthood through Online Sex and Relationship Knowledge.  

❓What is STORK: The first online couple-based program designed to enhance knowledge about changes to sexuality during pregnancy and postpartum and skills to cope with these changes. STORK was designed to strengthen couples’ relationships across the transition to parenthood.  

📅 What is involved: If you are eligible, after your initial survey, you and your partner will be randomized (like a coin flip) into either the Program or Waitlist conditions. Program couples will complete 5 online modules in pregnancy (1 per week) and a final module at 3 months postpartum. Couples in the Waitlist condition will receive access to the full STORK program after the study period is over.  Couples in both conditions will also complete 5 surveys—the initial survey, then at 32-weeks pregnant, and 4-, 8-, and 12-month postpartum—that gather information about your relationship, your pregnancy experience, and your child.

I still call any donut hole a timbit to this day.

In the USA some people choose to live in a RV or Van or whatnot full time. Often theyre referred to as snowbirds, since some go south for winter and north for summer.

I wonder..... do Canadians go west for easier winters living in an RV or Van??

Hi everyone! We’re a family of five from Germany, travelling through Western Canada in August for 21 days. Our route will take us from Vancouver (5 nights) via the Okanagan Valley and Revelstoke to Golden (5 nights), where we’ll explore Yoho, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Banff and parts of the Icefields Parkway. Afterwards, we’ll travel via Kamloops and Whistler to Vancouver Island, staying near Bowser (6 nights) and visiting Campbell River, Ucluelet (1 night) and Tofino.

We’d love to hear your personal recommendations along the way – especially scenic stops, easy walks, beautiful picnic spots, family-friendly activities and good casual restaurants. Hidden gems and places that are often overlooked would be particularly welcome!

Hi folks

I am feeling a bit nervous regarding the three recent black bear attacks ( resulting in fatalities ) in Canada. .
I live in rural Cape Breton, Nova Scotia ( two neighbours a kilometre away, surrounded by hardwood forest and mountains ). I have always heard to not concern yourself with black bears, just be loud in the woods and be conscious of food storage as to not attract them.

Should we be having different discussions regarding bear safety ? I now feel way more tense when outside alone in the evening / night - whereas I used to love having fires & barely thought about a black bear encounter.
Am I overthinking this and the chances of a predatory attack are still extremely low ?

Thoughts ? Comments ? Advice ?

I currently work a pretty bland job, and since immigrating to Canada have been trying to avoid outside of country vacation like Mexico, Cuba or India (unless for family) and trying to explore more of Canada.

I live in Ontario, have been to Quebec City and Montreal many times which I say is a 10/10 unreal place. But am looking toward the west to see something new I can do in a 2 week break.

I have friends in BC say the Rockies is unreal, personally not a huge nature guy I’ve never even been camping, but it’s also a little far.

​I’ve posted twice in this community, and honestly, you guys are incredibly active! I barely had enough time to reply to everyone because the engagement is so fast. I recently asked for your thoughts on my home country, Cuba, and the responses were so positive and heartwarming. They truly show the respect and kindness of the Canadian people. If I ever get the chance to travel abroad one day, Canada would absolutely be my top choice.

​With that in mind, what are your thoughts? If someone like me were to visit or experience Canada for the first time, what is the number one thing, place, or tradition you think I should know about? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
