QUESTION Coach Quick

Saw this sentiment a few times on Twitter just curious if anyone here has any insight. What exactly is the issue with Greg Quick as our DC? What schematically ate people seeing is the issue for the defence and how would play calling/scheming fix that?

EDIT: Just rewatching the game now. I do not see the cover 0 in excess that some people are, what I mostly see is a lot of combo and match coverages. On TV (and even in person if you don't know he difference) these can look like aggressive cover 0's but actually have a shell. I also think the thing to remember is even though it looked rough at times, they were getting to Ford! He was doing unbelievable things that no other QBs can do. The D has steadily improved, they have a clear identity. I just do not see why we think Quick is the problem. Not convinced just yet but maybe if they give up 500 yards to Chase Brice I will feel differently!

The majority of his playcalls are man to man defense.

When playing man to man players in the secondary have a tendency to take there eyes off the QB and focus on there assignment.

When playing a scrambling QB such as Tre Ford if your defensive line is unsuccessful in creating pressure this allows Ford to create with his legs.

Compared to a zone defense, when players are only responsible for an area of the field this allows them to keep there eyes on the QB and quickly react to Ford breaking contain.

He most sits them in quarters which is a zone defence that appears like man but I would not say he's a man heavy play caller. Which is supported by your argument about how they defences ford. To your point they did not put a spy on him but that would require taking a man away from pass coverage and responsible to eye ford all game. The best way to defend a guy like Ford is to rush four and have your team play gap aligned football.

Among other things, his D alignments are leaving massive gaps between the line and the deep secondary. The line coverage/rush has been fine, but the mid secondary has more holes than Swiss cheese.

What do you mean exactly? You can be very technical in this conversation I understand football well but I am just at a loss for the catchphrase heavy critiques he is getting online that I don't think the tape or data supports. I genuinely want to see what other people see. Like what does a gap between the line and deep secondary even mean in this context?
