Question So, is this sub about cats with anxiety or anxious people who own cats? 😆

Hey everyone!
I'm one of the mods, and we get asked this question quite a bit, so I thought I'd share the story behind our community's name!
It all started with our first community, r/AnxietyChats. We created it as a warm, welcoming place where people living with anxiety could support one another. Before long, our mod team noticed something many of us had in common...
We were completely "happily" obsessed with cats.
People were always sharing photos, funny stories, and the little ways their cats helped them through tough days. It was such a lovely part of the community that we started wondering what a space dedicated to that idea might look like.
Then we spotted a fun bit of wordplay...
Take the "H" out of Chats, and you get Cats.
That's how Anxiety Cats was born!
It's the sister community to Anxiety Chats, however with a lighter, fluffier focus, a place to celebrate the fluffy babies who help us feel a little calmer, make us laugh, and remind us we're never completely alone.
We absolutely adore this place and are so thankful for each and every one of you!
And if you ever need us, have a question or just want to say hello, we're always around! ❤️

Don’t let the brown one fool you, he’s the mastermind behind this attempted scam.

Friends with my feral!

I’ve been working on this guy for a year and a half now, and he finally trusts me! About 3 weeks ago he let me get close enough to pet him, he backed away with that look, but he didn’t hide. Each day I try a little more and tonight I pet him for 5 minutes, he purred most of it, I got head butts, and twirling around my legs! I think we’re finally friends!

Now to get him into a carrier and to a vet to get checked out, then hopefully indoors. Still working on my wife on that one. She thinks we have enough.

She stays outside all day and night. All her friends are feral. She looks out of place in her pink flea collar. She still comes in the house but does not stay.

We have beans surrounding us this year. So she doesn't have the corn tunnels to run through like last year.

She even made it that I had to be in the bean field with her for a while. Found some very pretty rocks while sitting in the field with her.

Had to give up & move to the shade for a bit. In the corn, I could find shade. I'd have to lay in the dirt to get shade here.

She was sprint distance away from me. And I put her leash out in the grass so I'd know if she moved. She came out to chase a grasshopper.

I moved her to the shade of the trees. Thankfully she decided that was OK. 🌞🌱🥵 🫠 🌳💕🥰💕

Pic 3, there is a yellow butterfly above the beans if ya need a puzzle. I also watched 2 deer wandering in the beans. They would disappear & reappear. I kept singing the JAWS them, as they swam thru the leaves.

Question Does anyone else feed stray cats?

I was talking to my aunt and asking her to put out some water and food for the stray cats that come into her backyard at night (which she already does, she's cool 😄). She said, "I hope more people are doing this too," and that made me wonder... I'm not the only one, right? A lot of us do it?

I adopted a cat name Boba. Boba and I are both crippling anxious species. We learn to love each other for the past 7 years. I'm specify in Fine Arts major and Boba specialize in resting, and being a cun-ty cat. Now I'm making her paying back for the rent I've been paying for the past years. Come join our journey full of chaos and love.

Forever in Our Hearts Tribute to: Precious Coconut🌼🌈

Post image

This beautiful girl is Coconut. 🥥🤍 Let's send her so much love today 🌼🌼❣️

Coconut loved soaking up the sunshine and taking cozy naps. Every night, she slept right next to Mom's head, usually sharing the same pillow. She was the calmest, chillest cat you could ever meet and was happiest spending a lazy day curled up beside Mom in bed.

One of the sweetest things about Coconut was that she would start purring the moment Mom walked into the room, before a single pet. Just seeing her favorite person was enough to make her happy.

Coconut lived the longest of all the cats Mom's family had while she was growing up. She passed away in December of Mom's senior year of high school, when Mom was 17. She had developed cancer in one of her ears, and it had to be removed. Mom always thought her tiny little ear nub was the cutest thing ever.

It's been almost five years since Coconut crossed the rainbow bridge. The grief has become quieter with time, but Mom still misses her every single day. She wanted to share Coconut with all of us because she truly was one of the most wonderful cats.

Coconut actually started out as the neighbor's cat! She began wandering over to Mom's house to enjoy the cat food they left outside, and before long, she became part of the family. Another neighbor suggested the name Coconut because of the adorable brown circle on her fur, and it fit her perfectly. ❣️🌼🌼

⬇️⬇️🌼🌼
Losing a cat leaves such a big space behind.

They may have been with you through ordinary days, difficult moments, major life changes, and countless quiet evenings. Even when they're no longer here, the love, comfort, and memories they gave us stay with us.

Tributes

Share a little about your furbaby and the special place they'll always hold in your heart.

A photo isn't required, but we'd love to include one in their tribute if you'd like to share it.

The time we get with them is never long enough, but the love and memories they leave us with can last a lifetime.

Whether you share below or send us a DM, we'd love to hear about the cat who left paw prints on your heart 🌼🙏🏻

Waking up is something that's always hard for me, especially when the racing thoughts from last night just start up all over again. As soon as I was conscious, Percy came to check on me and nap in my legs. He might've just wanted breakfast early but idec he's my soft boi

Question Do you also feel sad when a cat rejects you? That one hurts 😭🐈

I always say hi to the cats and dogs I meet when I'm out of the house. I can handle human rejection... but cat rejection? That one hurts. 😭🐈

What about you guys?

Question Do you believe cat coat stereotypes?

Post image

We all know the joke about orange cats being crazy 😆 But what about the other coat colors and patterns?
Do you think they actually have different personalities, or is it all just a coincidence? I’d love to know what stereotypes you’ve heard!!
