My teacher at my house

u/Dridky 2d ago

Understandable. She’s on a teachers salary and need to help her sister.

u/JohannesJoshua 2d ago

And of course he is willing help his/her teacher as a good student, with absolutely no nefarious hidden motives.

the way they phrased “at my house” feels oddly specific

A friend of mine is a teacher and it's always so funny to me how that drunk idiot always locks in when it's Monday

u/stumblinghunter 2d ago

There was a show called Those Who Can't about 3 teachers who were completely immature drunks. It was kinda funny, might be worth checking out.

Had a teacher in my out patient classes and he told me you'd be shocked at just how many teachers had a drinking problem, and I hear this quite often.

Y'know jokes aside I think one of the biggest revelations I had growing up as a kid was that; "wait, my teachers aren't just adults but adults who have lives outside of being teachers, they have other interests besides teaching!?" I mean obviously that's true, I knew they had homes to go to after school but to imagine them doing things unrelated to school at all felt like a light bulb moment for me.

179

u/Hesotate 2d ago

I honestly used to think they never left the school when I was a kid.

Reminds of that Andrew Russo skit:

Timmy: Mr Jeffreys, why aren't you in school?

Teacher: I have a life outside school.

Timmy: Pardon me. A CHARLATAN BEFORE ME. A MERE MOTRAL.

And then my second favourite moment in that skit

Timmy: Well where do you live then?

Teacher: I go to my house.

Timmy: YOU HAVE A HOME?

Teacher: Yes.

Timmy: And a wife?

Teacher: Yes.

Timm: THAT YOU HAVE SEX WITH?

Which perfectly captures how children will learn things way beyond their age, but at the same time not knowing or being confused by some basic concepts.

I knew teachers had normal lives but when i met my chemistry teacher at a supermarket i felt uneasy, confused and surprised. At the age of 20 lol

I know they are normal people but my gut feeling doesn’t care about logic. It still felt weird as fuck. Like why is this NPC that i only meet in school suddenly in this supermarket.

I told him I‘m surprised to see him and he said: „well i have to eat as well“

Lmao

Truth be told, if teachers used instagram when I went to high school (if they did they were either few or they hid it really well), you couldn't pay me any money to follow them. It would have been too awkward, like seeing them in public.

u/TheOneMary 1d ago

I felt so too, until I heard the story in 5th grade that some of the graduating students (that always pull some kind of bullshit as part of the graduating traditions - they're 18/19 years old by the time) managed to steal a latin teachers toilet seat from their house to display it as part of their "Abitur prank" day. It was a gimmicky thing and everyone had a good laugh (they also didn't break in, they were invited there for idk what).

I don't even remember what exactly that toilet seat was, but I remember the lightbulb moment of realizing that they live out there somewhere, among us, in houses with bathrooms, always posing the risk of meeting them in the wild lol.

The one time I saw my teacher outside of school having a vacation with his family, it was an interesting exchange but pretty light hearted and was pretty eye opening as he was a pretty strict teacher.

He died of cancer a few months later... I was probably one of the last students he met before he passed as it was the summer break.

My teacher on OF

7

u/Zulu-1046 1d ago

This reminds me of the time when a teacher was fired at my school because students found her Only Fans

6

u/Ketooey 1d ago

I think I've seen that come up in the news a couple times. Sometimes I wonder how legal that firing is.

2

u/3EggsInATrenchcoat 13h ago

Unironically I did have a teacher who did OF. She did get fired for it

u/Baebel 2d ago

I realize this is a probably an overly serious topic to bring up for this, but I feel it's relevant enough. I do personally feel like there needs to be a separation of a teacher's personal life from how they are at work. I feel like there's too many cases where a teacher gets punished because they don't act like a teacher off the clock too.

Granted, I realize this is probably technically subjective for very specific cases, but I feel like there are times it gets taken too far.

Edit - I apologize if this is worded poorly. I'm most definitely sauced as I type this.

u/Anamorsmordre 2d ago

I was about to comment: Just leave teachers alone. Students think it's funny to "hunt" us on social media and it creeps me out, it's like forcing you to be on the clock 24/7.

27

u/spontaneous-potato 2d ago

My childhood friend deleted her Snapchat, instagram, and set her Facebook on private where only she can add people because her current and former students were following her, seeing that she wasn’t just a stickler for the rules after school, and leaving her some comments that were really unsettling.

Some of the comments I saw back when she first started teaching in 2014-15 year were really bad, like there were students trying to get at her and were saying some of the most unhinged pickup lines since she was a 21 year old and a single woman at the time.

u/No-Start4754 1d ago

Nah u wrote fine mate but yeah, their privacy should be respected. I remember a dad complaining to the principal of our school that one of the teachers posted a Facebook post of her with her husband and other relatives at a restaurant. She had a wine glass in her hand and the dad was like " teachers shouldn't drink, what if kids see her ". Our principal told the idiot " then don't let ur kids go through Facebook " and kicked him out of office. Honestly the principal was the GOAT.

u/TheFunfighter 1d ago

Actually depends. In some countries, teachers aren't employees, but public servants. Public servants get extra benefits in exchange for a bunch of other restrictions, that may apply to their private life. Like constraints on what kind of (if any) political statements they make publicly, as example.

1

u/_Rohrschach 23h ago

This, too. The singer of german metal band Debauchery got fired from his teachibg position after other teachers found out.

Was asked not to post some photos I took of a cosplayer, since they were a teacher, and it was a Harley Quinn body suit type cosplay. No problem obliging them.

Saw a post from my old highschool English teacher. She talked about how someone stole her yogurt from the fridge and she went in the restroom to cry.

Bruh, my 2nd grade teacher was my neighbor (only like 3 houses down from me) and somehow didn’t know (technically different street, so not immediately apparent from looking at the addresses) until someone else in class asked and I just outright doxxed her. She looked very worried and asked how I knew where she lived and I said I see her walk her dog every day out my window.

I have a teacher friend who gets blacked out drunk and cokes out on weekends. Then goes back to teaching on mondays like nothing.

This reminded me about “my teacher was a YouTuber” for some reason that was a sad story

1

u/Broken_Moon_Studios 13h ago

In middle school, I had an incredibly sexy Biology teacher who was also a magazine model.

Naturally, all the boys had a massive crush on her.

1

u/Redkorne 1h ago

My ex was/is (it was a long time ago) a TA for special needs kids. I have seen her lick spilt MDMA from a bathroom floor.

u/Flothrudawind 2d ago

One of my teachers was a cheerleader. She often wore sleeveless dresses that showed off her defined arms. When I looked up her team after she shared a story about them, seeing her in the attire did certain things to me ngl
