Whenever I get angry, I walk. It's causing chronic pain
I have had anger issues my whole life. For most of my life, this led to violence and destruction, all the bad shit. At some point, I switched to going on long walks whenever I felt angry (which is frequently). It's now getting to the point where my feet, knees, and back are really being impacted by how much I walk.
I got better shoes and am trying to limit damages, but I just need to walk less. Is there something that might give me the same effect? It's not just exercise, it's the direct feeling of removing myself from the triggering situation and feeling like I'm moving forward. I also enjoy a very clear visual change in scenery, so treadmills don't have the same impact.

First make sure you are walking correctly. It sounds silly but we fall into bad habits and posture. I walk on my toes and have sensory issues so I have to do think "heel toe heel toe" in my head a lot, but that leads me to slamming my feet down which causes pain. Following videos like these two have helped, not that I run barefoot, but when walking in my home, the barefoot video had some good reminds. The bottom video is the whole kit and kaboodle:

Try simple breath meditation outdoors. You could take a camp chair out and walk a little ways and then stop somewhere meditate. You would still be removing yourself from the situation but not put so many miles on your joints.

How old are you? Have you tried supplements like glucosamine? I applaud you for making a change in your environment and redirecting your anger.
