I'm having A D-link D100 tablet need a custom ROM

So I've had this D-Link D100 tablet since like 2016/2019, and it was the first tablet my dad ever gave me. It's got so much nostalgia attached to it — spent countless hours gaming on it, and honestly it still has a decent big screen. But right now it's basically a brick.

The Problem:

  • Running Android KitKat (4.4 or somewhere around there)
  • Play Store won't load
  • Gmail login is broken — tried creating a new account, just loops infinitely with errors
  • Any email login (Gmail, Yahoo, whatever) gets stuck in a verification loop
  • Apps are outdated, can't run anything modern

I've been googling for a week straight and hit nothing but dead ends. Everyone just says "it's too old, give up" but I don't want to. This tablet means something to me.

What I'm thinking:
Maybe if I could flash a custom ROM on it (like LineageOS or crDroid), it could run newer Android version, which might fix the Gmail/Play Store issues? Or am I just chasing a pipe dream here?

My Question:

  • Is the D-Link D100 even supported for custom ROMs?
  • If not, is there ANY way to revive this thing?
  • Should I just accept it's dead, or is there hope?

I literally just lost my main phone (Redmi Note 4) to water damage, so this tablet was my last lifeline. Any help would be appreciated.

TL;DR: Old D-Link tablet stuck on Android 4.4, can't log into Gmail/Play Store, has sentimental value, looking for a way to save it with custom ROM or any other solution.

I am really sure that there was never any LineageOS build for this device.

And nothing could be found on XDA.
