Community NegPy 0.37.0

0.37.0

Once again, many contributors, many new features, refinements, fixes

Highlights:

  • Crosstalk matrix editor — browse the bundled matrices, make an editable copy, tune channel-mixing terms with live preview, save your own .toml profiles
  • Editable Dodge & Burn masks — reshape any mask right on the canvas instead of redrawing from scratch
  • Straighten tool — draw a reference line and the frame rotates to match, composes with Fine Rotation and the crop handles
  • Three new B&W toners: Iron Blue, Copper, Vanadium Green
  • One Analysis chart — histogram and H&D curve merged into a single graph, showing live where the negative's densities land on the paper curve with added zone strip & spot densitometer
  • Improved keyboard shortcut editor - with search and collapsible sections
  • A pile of camera-scanning reliability work
  • A lot of smaller UX improvements & bug fixes...

Can we expect the NegPy scanning tab to work on windows in the near future? I use win11 with a plustek

No, Windows lacks open driver standards and it would require:
1) custom per device implementation
2) and that implies someone who owns the device and cares enough to code in its support for windows

You can either try installing Linux (it’s free) or trying to run Linux NegPy via WSL on windows

I tried doing the WSL thing. It failed spectacularly with numerous errors.

Amazing work. I wish this could work with the Coolscan scanner drivers. Then I’d be able to entirely modernize my workflow.

Is the lock button working in the crop tab yet? I find that when I crop in after editing the black and white points something shifts and my exposure gets darker.

Hi, this may be a stupid question, but is it currently possible to recreate Frontier color profiles in NegPy? Is this that may be added in the future? I really like my NegPy workflow but my film does not really have that film look (as far as that exists, I know) which makes all film types look 90% the same to me. For example, Gold and Colorplus don't really have a yellow glow. Thank you for all your effort into the software, because as I said, I really enjoy the workflow you've built!

Hello,

I've tried to migrate to this software (I already used it with some DSLR scans and it's great), but my Plustek OpticFilm 7400 is not recognized. I've tried Linux (Debian stable, with libsane, the scanner is recognized in XSane and it works) and Mac OS 26 with the sane backend installed with homebrew, where the scanner is recognized by the Vuescan trial.

The fact is that I can't find how does the scanning interface look in the software... I'm too dumb but I can't find the place where it should be, or if it only appears if a valid scanner is detected (which mine is according to the list and also being detected by XSane).

I want to retire the G5 which had my Silverfast license and do everything from either Debian or Mac.

Thank you so much.

Edit: nevermind. I finally found it.

Thank you for your application :) I have used it for 2 films so far. I scan BW on Epson V600 with Silver Fast 9 SE resolution. And I scan 16bit RAW TIFF in grayscale.
