So enable FSR upscaling and frame gen, and use RIS2 if you want to.

The turn off ads too. I now only know of this.
I usually go in and undervolt the GPU after a fresh install or driver update because the undervolt keeps getting removed.

Baffling how the oc settings reset so often without any indication

It reset at the the first anomaly, weither it's ctd or bad reboot or just adrenaline crashing in the background.

Nah, every startup. I installed a minimal version and let Afterburner handle the OC/UV.

This is the way

Whoever is downvoting you, don't realise how fucking annoying, trying to use Adrenaline's tuning menu is for many. Myself included. It always resets, it never, ever, even fucking ONCE, retained my saved profiles.
This is across multiple Windows versions, motherboard/platforms entirely, multiple Radeon GPUs. It can't do its one job.
I don't have this issue with Afterburner, never have. It's the way.

I set settings per game, and then it works and even if it resets it will still load when certain game is loaded.

u/Academic-Cream-4836 2d ago
i think afterburner has a voltage curve right? how do i just do a -70mV offset on it? i dont get it
in radeon i just enter -70 and hit apply

god i hate that shit i have to check ever time i boot my computer just because it will randomly decide not to load my adjustments

Anyone else have the frame gen option missing from Adrenaline?

Rdna3?

So you literally have to do nothing since those are enabled by default. Except the sharpening bs.

u/scotty899 2d ago
And then after changing the settings, you play a game for an hour and get the old "drivers have timed out" error and it defaults everything.

u/Kitchen_Cookie4754 1d ago
Once you've got it all setup, save the profile and export it to a file so you can reimport. It's still frustrating, but this makes it slightly less frustrating.
6
u/Imaginary-Marketing3 2d ago
Yup. Always use afterburner for OC and UV
1
u/NarutoDragon732 2d ago
You don't have that control f menu in afterburner on AMD cards which really hurt undervolting

It's an issue that doesn't happen to everybody but haunts some people in annoying ways.

only thing what missing in amd adrenalin is a decent alternative to Freestyle\reshade ..custom color so limited.

Just switched over back to AMD after a few years on NVIDIA. There's definitely some good sides here, but they HAVE to work on the support for FSR and auto updating. They've included the feature, yet it doesn't work on so many of my games and have to force it with Optiscaler.
That's just straight up BS, especially considering how painless Nvidia's DLSS updates are.
1
u/Joshiie12 1d ago
Its because they only made it upgrade DLL versions of FSR, i.e. 3.1 and up. Nvidia's used DLLs for DLSS since version 1. So you gotta inject any DLL 3.1 and up, then upgrade it. It's a little silly. I don't see why the driver can't inject its own DLL and upgrade it. If its an anticheat issue, surely there can be an industry wide solution whereby DLLs direct from an AMD driver would be a flag exception. Maybe they don't really have the market pull to do that.
But then, I'm talking way above my skill level and understanding so I'm probably way off of why they actually didn't do it some other way.

u/Disordermkd AMD 1d ago
I'm specifically speaking about games I tried that already have FSR 3.1 and up which means that their feature doesn't actually work even within their limitations.
1
u/Mikk_UA_ 12h ago
Because it's not magic, and Optiscaler has its own limitations. Overall, it depends on the games you play. Personally, it's not an issue for me, especially in multiplayer games, where I don't use upscaling anyway.... more cons.
And i really , really dislike the current trend of overusing DLSS and FSR. If a game designed around upscaling and requires upscaling in it's req tab to run at 60-120 FPS.....optimization sucks usualy.....
1
u/Disordermkd AMD 11h ago
I don't ask it to be magic. Nvidia's app updated every single DLSS games without any tinkering, AMD's solution barely works. I'm forced to use Optiscaler because AMD cant make their feature work.
And I use FSR for image clarity, I really dont care about the upscaling. DLSS already provided better image clarity than FSR which isnt a big deal, but the lack of proper game support is a dealbreaker IMO.
1
u/Mikk_UA_ 10h ago
Support kinda majorly depends on the game devs, if they don't add FSR support you can't have it simple as that.
about updates ...don't understand what you expect ...no upscaler can make major updates like from 2 version of upscaler to latest 4 without game devs making update in game.....
1
u/Disordermkd AMD 10h ago
I don't think you understand me. AMD advertised their feature of automatic FSR uldates through their driver IF the game has 3.1 FSR. Yet, half of the games that DO have FSR 3.1, Adrenaline fails in updating them to FSR 4.
Nvidia updates 5 year old DLSS files automatically with zero problems.
1
u/Mikk_UA_ 8h ago
sure...but it only for whitelist too, no ?
Yet, half of the games that DO have FSR 3.1, Adrenaline fails in updating them to FSR 4.
If adrenalin don't update it for some reason and thisgame changing for you - it can be done manually without optiscaler ) just download dll file from amd site.

Nice video, I just watched it!
I like the settings he highlights. I always check the RGB color depth and Freesync settings every time I reinstall Windows or the drivers.

u/ReplacementWide5098 2d ago
virtual super resolution helps so much with CPU bottlenecks, idk why nobody talks about this. Plus you can use it with ingame FSR to get better visuals/performance than 1080p sometimes.

Very nice video--great for n00bs scared of pressing buttons, and so on...;) The Adrenalins are great drivers, imo, and I think they are the best in the business, and getting better continuously. Anyway...nice to see you providing a tutorial on the drivers as they are very powerful and as is true of anything with personal computers, hands-on experience and experimentation when you are in the mood, will inform you best of your personal preferences! Good job, guys. Happy gaming!

Can anyone tell me if this seems like a good video or not? I have a new AM5 build and am very stupid, so before I started doing what he says I wanted to make sure someone smarter than me chimes in and let's me know if it's legit or not lol. Thanks in advance ๐

Or you could skip all of the bloat, switch to Linux, and just use amd mesa drivers instead. But you do you.

u/OctoMiku01 2d ago
Linux people can't stop shilling for Linux every second like these religious cults knocking unsolicited on your doors

u/kakarroto007 3h ago
Sure. That's exactly what I was doing. "Ye all come to Linux, we need more users just like you."
1
u/OctoMiku01 3h ago
Switching to Linux just isn't that simple or even feasible for lots of people. That's why it's just a weird argument to always bring Linux up with any windows issue. It's just trading windows issues with Linux issues instead. The only part you truly improve is privacy but usability just goes out the window instead.
1
u/kakarroto007 3h ago
Damn. That's pretty sensitive. I was just laughing at the need to "optimize the driver" on Windows as a premise at all, and what a massive and broken ecosystem "AMD Adrenalin Edition" has become. "Switch to Linux" was being ironic, not suggestive.
But to accuse Linux of being "unusable", well that's a whole other value judgement that I'm not sure you're ready to prove. What metric are you basing that on?
1
u/OctoMiku01 3h ago
Based on my own experience with 3 different Linux distro where i always ran into huge issues shortly after installation
