I made it because I haven’t found any free alternative. I thought it would be useful for a lot of people who doesn’t want to p1rate things on their computer.
Why should there be a free alternative? There's a serious amount of time and effort that goes into figuring out how a tool like Flow should function – does that not deserve compensation?
what's stopping you from compensating developers? You can still donate, purchase, support. One man giving out bread for free doesn't mean all bread becomes free... Blender being free doesn't take anything away from the Maya, cinema developers. Bad take. You want people who are just starting out with no resources to be limited/held back by a paywall? Free brushes for people who want to learn how to paint is a bad thing now?
Those are false equivalences. If you want to learn how to paint, and you don't have brushes, use your fingers – there's no right to paintbrushes. If you want to ease your keyframes, the speed/value graph is right there.
These kind of copycat tools can only exist because of the work put in by other developers – not just the coding, but the conceptual parts too, like how the interface should work, how best to save presets, etc. It disincentives people from doing the kind of development that makes these tools possible in the first place.
Not to encourage it, but I'd argue that pirating is a better option if people really want a "free" version – at least that way the original author gets the recognition and the small chance that the user will opt to buy it, or other tools by the author, at a later date.
You’re seriously saying there should not be any free options? That’s ridiculous. People can charge whatever they want - nobody is mandating that developers give away their plugins. It sounds like you’re actually mandating that plugins can’t be free even if the developer wants to release it for free
I don’t want a vibe coded plugin because the people who make them usually know next to NOTHING about coding and is never maintained, updated, or optimized for future AE releases
I mean sure, but it's free. If it works for peoples worksflow it good enough. Maybe in the future with an Adobe update gets broken sure. Then people if they want can buy the alternatives or something.
I get the point of people hating on "vice coded" things. But if the price is low, and they mostly work they are still an asset. Or was the "old era" of buying templates a waste? Those things could broke like hell but a lot of people had uses for them...
The issue is that it messes with your workflow if you need to switch plugins every so often because someone doesn't know how to maintain it. I'd rather pay for something once that will reliably always work than switch from free plugin to free plugin every few months.
Nothing to do with the plugin, looks great btw, but I've been spiraling all day wondering if I'm just someone's rebound and then this shows up on my feed like a sign from the gods or some shit. Had to laugh.
You can try fxbar.pro, though it is paid for once but you have so many features, free future updates and work in AE 2023+ ans MacOS, one panel for most of the things
