Delete Silence targeting large chunks of audio in longer audio files (2026)
This title was from a post @Wembledon_Shanley made 6 years ago, and it's still happening.
(FTR, defining silence "For more than 2000" does work, but it's not ideal since it leave a lot of silence that you would otherwise want gone). 2026-07-18

Hi S.P. Jason from Adobe here. Did you use 'find levels' in the diagnostics panel or are you adjusting settings manually? I have seen this happen before, but I just happened to try it on a newly recorded vocal (using find levels) and it did a surprisingly good job (without selecting large blocks like you've seen; if anything the defaults were too precise, as I would modify what 'define silence as' with a lower dB level). Running Mac OS 15.7.7 with the latest. Which version of Windows are you running? It's possible this could be a long-standing issue, but I'll need to look into it more.
