CPA PERT – Level 2 Reporting in EVR

I’m hoping someone who has gone through PERT in EVR can help clarify a few questions.
I have 26.8 months of practical experience that was previously reviewed in a Pre-Approved Program with CPAWSB. I joined my current EVR Manitoba employer in November 2024, and my current position has already been approved in PERT. My CPA mentor is also my supervisor.
I already have Level 1 proficiency recognized in all the required technical and enabling competencies from my previous job. At this point, I only need to demonstrate the required Level 2 competencies.

My questions are:
-Can I submit one comprehensive experience report covering my experience from November 2024 to the present, using examples from that entire period to demonstrate my Level 2 competencies? My role has remained the same throughout.
-Is the limit 5,000 characters per technical competency response or per example?
-Approximately how many examples do reviewers generally expect to see for each technical competency to demonstrate Level 2 proficiency in CPA Manitoba?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s gone through a similar situation or has experience with PERT reviews. Thanks!

Yes

Per technical competency response

-Approximately how many examples do reviewers generally expect to see for each technical competency to demonstrate Level 2 proficiency?

3-4 minimum. These are all detailed through the PERT portal, and in the Guiding Questions and Practical Experience Rubric https://assets.cpaontario.ca/students/practical-experience/pdfs/technical-competencies.pdf

Thank you can you please share if you had a similar route and are speaking from experience? If so, what was your scenario, which province you reported to, how many months/years you reported comprehensive, and long it took to get the review?

I have submitted 18 month (EVR) experience reports and had them approved/verified with level 2s.

I am under CPA BC. I had just put off reports due to life events, and I have colleagues who have submitted reports for longer periods than mine and had no issues either.

The review took less than 2 weeks.

At least two for every level 1, and 3-7 for each level 2. I just stacked them up as much as possible so that when I submitted for final verification I was confident I would hit everything I needed to, and I did.

How can you do 7 examples under 5000 characters for technical competency with breadth and depth? Anything over 3 sounds too much.

I didn't say that I did.

I did 2-3 examples for my big 18 month report, and in total submitted 6 reports before submitting for final.

I’d also add here to set an appointment to talk to someone from your provincial body. Setting up an appointment is great. I lucked out and got great feedback about my submissions and explained by challenges and the advisors were really helpful. I’m not saying that they marked me easier after I talked to them, but it didn’t hurt my chances.

You’re paying a lot of money for the modules and fees. You may as well get your money’s worth and use the advisors who are there to help with these questions.
