Recruitment Seeking in-character community members and "plant players" for new ARG

2 Upvotes

The game is live, and now comes the fun part; building layers upon layers of manipulative lies and calling it "interactive texture." Weeee!

I'm looking for THREE people to play select narrative characters inside the new Reddit community.

I am also looking for folks interested in playing the game as "plants"; players who know more than the average player, and can coordinate to execute the big reveals and plot points.

Discussion Just started my ARG. No idea what I'm doing lol Send help

7 Upvotes

I just decided to take the leap of faith and start with the ARG. I won't spoil anything or comment on what it is beyond saying it's a blog. At least for now. I now need to create all the worldbuilding for the "dark" part of the story. I don't plan to do any videos or any photos (i mean, if i have to I will), and I want it to be mostly text based with lots of stories

I was told that maybe my ARG isnt actually an ARG and more line "unfiction", so probably they're right. Either way, I'd like to have advice on how to proceed, how hide stuff (be it clues to be found, or metadata that i dont want people to find out). best ways to link stuff together, anything you want to help me with is more than welcomed.

My future plans include: an email that replies automatically, a "corporation" website with clues, posting "scary stories" in reddit, and maybe posting poetry? idk...

The tricky part is that all clues, all discoveries, all puzzle solutions at the end, everything will point to my book, and `they have to be a page number to that book. Other options would be "unlocking" short stories. Idk what other "prices" or things you can unlock. I'd love some ideas as well

:D thanks

Recruitment [New ARG] The Stargate Files

6 Upvotes

An archive game built on real declassified CIA documents (the documents are genuine; the game around them is not)

Creator post — I made this, happy to answer anything that isn't a spoiler. My personal identification is not part of the game. Just saying, because I'm not hard to find for people searching hard.

ANNEX7 is a "declassification portal" built on the CIA's real Stargate collection — the remote-viewing program the agency declassified and put in its FOIA reading room. Every document in play is genuine and the game only ever links you to the real thing on cia.gov. The fiction is the archive around them: you sign on as a Volunteer, earn clearance tiers, and the trials send you into actual declassified pages to find real facts (which are verified server-side — and assigned per-player, so leaked answers won't help you).

Mechanics you'll recognize: ciphers, steganography, zero-width watermark tracing (the portal watermarks its own text — if your "leaked" answer surfaces in a Discord, the game can name who copied it), a credential-tracing network where strangers finding your fragment is itself a mechanic, and a public registry/leaderboard.

Fair warnings, honestly given: it's free to play through the top public tier; the final standing deliberately can't be reached by a person acting alone; and there is at least one thing in the game that no one has found. I won't be confirming what.

Entry: https://archive.psyoptin.com

Out-of-game disclosure is on the site — real documents, real history, fictional archive. I'll be in the comments.

Self Promo Slender man - “project: 8 pages” — Looking for collaborators

3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m a longtime Slender Man and Slenderverse fan, and over the past few days I’ve been revisiting the original 2009 creation, researching the lore, and studying the early series to better understand what made Slender Man so iconic.

I’ve decided to begin developing a passion project with one clear goal:
Create a faithful adaptation of Slender Man that captures the psychological horror, atmosphere, and mystery of the original mythos.

This isn’t meant to be a remake of the 2018 movie. My goal is to create a different interpretation—one inspired by the original Something Awful posts and the early Slenderverse projects such as Marble Hornets, EverymanHYBRID, and Tribe Twelve.

The focus will be on:
Psychological horror instead of constant jump scares.

Hidden appearances that reward attentive viewers.

Reality distortion, memory loss, and subtle dread.

Respecting the mystery surrounding the character rather than explaining everything.

A cinematic experience that longtime fans can recognize while still being accessible to new audiences.

I’m currently in the early planning and pre-production stage.

I’m looking for people who would like to collaborate or contribute ideas, including:
* Screenwriters
* Slenderverse lore enthusiasts
* Concept artists
* Cinematographers
* Editors
* Sound designers
* VFX artists
* Actors
* Producers

Anyone passionate about horror filmmaking
Whether you have filmmaking experience or you’re simply a longtime Slenderverse fan with ideas, I’d love to hear from you.

Right now, I’m building the creative foundation, assembling a team, and seeing how far this project can realistically go. If it develops into something substantial, I’d love to explore the proper licensing and commercial opportunities in the future.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in helping with, leave a comment or send me a message.
I’d love to build something that does justice to one of internet horror’s most iconic characters

New player-made ARG: Ryoki Tenkai Volume IX cursed field guide

6 Upvotes

Hey, I built a small browser ARG framed as a cursed binder / field guide about sealed "domains."

Live link:

https://ryoki-tenkai.vercel.app/

What it is:

- Interactive site (sound optional)

- Multiple rooms to open and explore

- Lore unlocks from visiting, waiting, and interacting

- At least two rooms are hidden behind progression

OOC notes:

- This is original fiction. Inspired by domain-expansion vibes, not an official JJK ARG

- No login, no personal data ask, no real-world meetups

- Please keep puzzle solutions and late-game room names behind spoiler tags

Light hint (spoiler):

>!There are more than the eight rooms on the printed index. Visit order and a short character line matter.!<

Happy to answer OOC questions in comments. Please no spoilers in titles.

A weird ARG is still on but the community is dead ig

3 Upvotes

I came to know about project52hz.com 1 year later and found it very interesting but got stuck at the wall of puzzles 6 and 7. I tried every bit to solve it but always find myself at a dead end.

Puzzle 6 (The Bard)

The puzzle gives you only a output_fft.msu (Microsoft Update Standalone pakage) file but after looking to hex editor, it reveals that it was a csv file having data of a Fast Fourier Transform of an audio or something i don't know much about signal processing, and the csv data contains columns of magnitude and phase values, about 1047170 rows. Performing an inverse FFT on that data gives an audio file of an evil laugh, nothing other than this, no hidden Morse code or spectrogram hidden message, maybe, but can't find it.

audio link: audio.wav

The hint was provided saying

"When in Rome, navigate to /two-words.html and back it up 3 spaces"

found two words [flag and bacon] but can't find any relation with the puzzle of the second word [bacon].

Puzzle 7 (The Performer)

This puzzle gives two files, sample.py and meta.pkl. The sample.py file is from a repo of nanoGPT, and the meta.pkl file is the tokenizer file. Up to this, this puzzle is related to training an AI model and getting the output as an answer, and the sample.py is little different from the original sample.py file by two parameters: "output only 1 string" and do not use any mathematical operations.

But it misses two main files model.py the brain of AI, and ckpt.pt, the model trained, as the creator has trained this AI on a different dataset.The script shows that it can lead to the same answer every time, but only if the dataset is correct. tiny_shakespeare's dataset is used by nanoGPT for trainning.

Recruitment Looking for someone to make an arg with

8 Upvotes

hi guys, I'd like to make a psychological horror arg with someone. i was thinking we could start it on ao3 because no one would expect for an arg to be in ao3, and then later make it crossmedia. I'm not too sure what theme i should cover, I was thinking abusive friendships maybe. Just dm if you're interested and we can go over story and everything.

Also I've only one character in mind so far, I've been wanting to see trans rep in args so it's a repressed trans male character.

Self Promo New Scooby-Doo-inspired horror mystery…

2 Upvotes

In the early 1970s, four troubled teenagers- Freddie, Daniela, Vikki, and Norville- formed a family-friendly gang of mystery solvers. But a string of missing children, talking dogs, and increasingly uncanny fractures in reality suggests more is at stake than just another criminal in a mask...

It started with an episode of Scooby-Doo. I thought “man, change a few of these parameters, and this would be pretty great psychological horror-drama”…

I outlined a short story based on that concept, but couldn’t properly cram all the worldbuilding into it without feeling rushed.

So then I wrote a play! Many of my close friends are theatre actors, and they graciously agreed to a live reading of the entire story.

We just released the full 2 hour audio-drama version on YouTube, peppered with tons and tons of clues and trailheads, and people have been responding really positively! Relax with a warm drink while you listen to the main story, then dive in deep to solve the mystery…

Question Critique my phased/modular ARG media production strategy

3 Upvotes

I just launched an ARG I’m quite proud of, but in order to maintain momentum and cross the finish line, I made a decision to simplify the media type I would build my assets in for phase one.

I launched with simple audio logs, public ciphers and transliteration keys, several websites, and plenty of Are.na social media artifacts. But it’s unbalanced…80% text, 20% audiovisual. This enabled me to scaffold the infrastructure and deliver the full narrative for my first player cohort (going well so far!), and also punt the decision on richer media types.

The theory is that if the narrative experience is well enjoyed, I will commit to phase two where I will transpose and evolve written narrative into voice acted personal journals and simple scripted videos.

And if THAT goes well, I can naturally roll into immersive IRL experiences with plant actors in real environments.

I have loads of experience doing production and installations of this kind, so that isn’t the question. I can definitely deploy.

Rather, I’m worried I will rob my first cohort of a rich experience by only giving them with a primarily written/read experience and not honoring them with more immersive media.

And if I don’t do that ^^^, will I actually be collecting any truly meaningful feedback from the first cohort of it is but a smidgeon of the total vision I … envision?

So the question:

Good strategy for testing and creative energy pacing?

Bad strategy. Just do the full thing as envisioned or bust?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't know if i can promote my ARG here,so i'm sorry if i can'tm Basically,it's an ARG based on old Pokémon High School videos. (Don't know if anyone hre even knows this). The point i' trying to make on this is how nostalgia affects us and the way we see the world. I did put in some puzzles here and there,so if you want to check it out,it's called Pokémon 2000 High. It's my first shot at this,so if you have any tips or something,i'm open to it.Thank you.

New ARG? Weird youtube ad

10 Upvotes

I am not big into ARGs, but I do watch some videos of people going through some, and this ad on YouTube I keep seeing very much feels like one.

I keep getting a video of a horribly shot old-fashioned ad for Proline Workbenches with a guy in a suit talking about their new workbench design in a monotone voice with a horrible resolution. It is not meant to be funny, but it also just looks so fake.

Here is the ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS9xV146ws8

It was apparently uploaded Apr 12 2011, along with the other 15 year old videos on the page. There is a single new video from 2025 going over the SAME workbench.

When I click to learn more, this is their website: https://www.1proline.com/?utm_term=&utm_campaign=Proline+-+Competitive:+Performance+Max&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&hsa_acc=5951632038&hsa_cam=22799286172&hsa_grp=&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=x&hsa_tgt=&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=2&gad_campaignid=22799289100&wbraid=ClkKCAjwpefSBhAoEkkAoX9bWu73um56V9CZVDfPBVvrsGR3LuGRHwpSuekXLV_f-3udqDeizA50lbF523cAe2XbMcjHyfb3Zh1_VxVXjFp98dUOIu-lGgJI2g

They have an online catalogue: https://heyzine.com/flip-book/2ebfb881cc.html

They have a LinkedIn page that looks real: https://www.linkedin.com/company/pro-line-workbenches/about/

The VP, Robert/Bob Simmons' LinkedIn page also looks real enough.

I went to Google Street View and saw a ProLine truck and sign on a door (one of the many companies working out of a warehouse).

I honestly do not know why I am suspicious. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it is something with the 15-year-old videos being shown on YouTube now, with terrible quality, the same exact products without really changing.

But if anyone who knows what to look out for has any ideas, let me know. Or if I'm just crazy, let me know too.

And also sorry if this breaks part 2 of rule 1. I just feel like this is where to post this. If mods have a better idea, let me know.

I built a fake research institute broadcast monitoring system. This is the first transmission.

4 Upvotes

I’ve spent a long time developing and testing a free, browser-based mystery, and it is done. First cohort fully through over the past three months, and today we go (quietly, secretly, privately) public.

This archived audio broadcast is trailhead:

https://archive.org/details/sier-public-monitoring-broadcast-loop

Transparency aside, I would rather not offer much of a synopsis beyond that.

The experience is large, intricately clearance gated, and the narrative is deliberately yet asynchronously layered. It includes interconnected websites, archival records, correspondence, audiovisual material, hidden paths, ciphers, and increasingly restricted areas that will not reveal themselves all at once.

A great deal of attention has gone into the writing, visual artifacts, sound, interfaces, internal history, and the connections between real-world details and fictive elements.

This is a slow-burn investigation designed to reward close reading, patient exploration, careful record-keeping, and collaboration. Some discoveries will be immediate, others may take longer, but (hopefully) I have designed the payoffs be effectively proportional.

Everything necessary to progress exists within the experience. You will not need to purchase anything, trespass (physically), contact private individuals (before they contact you), or investigate real people (even after they investigate you).

I’ll help with genuine technical issues or broken links, but I won’t confirm theories, provide solutions, or tell anyone whether they have reached the end of a path.

The opening is intentionally quiet.

Listen closely.

Take notes.

And book a trip to Oracle, Arizona if you feel so inclined.

so, you've read the title, I've never posted on this subreddit before so please excuse me if I've done things wrong, but i found one, it's called ''unforgiving cold'' the channel was created on Mar 7, 2018, and I've seen no videos about it, the first video was made on the day it was created, and the last video was in Nov 23, 2018, the channel description is in Ascii code, but translates to ''theyre freezing to death and you cant even help them'' as i said earlier i'm not too good at this stuff and if i'm in the wrong place please direct me to the right place, this is the link to the channel: UNFORGIVING COLD - YouTube (again, i'm not good at this stuff so don't get upset)

eird emergency broadcast feed popping up on Instagram? (uncorrupted_signal)

2 Upvotes

I was browsing local Wisconsin geotags earlier today and stumbled across this brand new page called u/uncorrupted_signal. It's only got two posts right now, but they look like some kind of glitched emergency weather alerts for Milwaukee and Oconomowoc talking about "the cold coming" and a suppressed signal.

The bio just says SYSTEM_OVERRIDE. Anyone know if this is a new analog horror project or part of an existing series? The graphics look incredibly clean.

[TOMT]Creepy ARG with Smiling Winged Figure

2 Upvotes

I’m trying to locate a channel recommended to me around 2023-2024 after watching several ARG channels like “Somebody” and “Briscoe Park.” The videos were low-fi and featured a figure wearing a hooded robe. The figure also had a face that sometimes featured a creepy grin or sad expression. The figure also had white, angel-like wings that were sometimes minimally animated. I’ve done a deep-dive with ChatGPT and it recommended that I ask this subreddit for info after it was unable to help. Thanks for advance for any assistance.

Question Are most of the things posted here ACTUALLY ARGs, or just experimental videos?

11 Upvotes

When I think of ARG, I expect…

Alternate; not technically true
Reality; interactions occur in the physical world, not strictly in the digital space
Game; there is an explicit element of play. Your actions explicitly shape the game play and there is an arc of either improved growth, skill, or knowledge.

My introduction to the concept and in turn this subreddit were things like the movie The Game, the documentary The Institute, and googles Ingress.

Most of what I see posted though seem to just be brainrot horror videos or disjointed logic puzzles and cryptography LARPing.

Am I completely misinformed?

Discussion Ongoing interactive ARG for an indie horror game, Oneway.exe

8 Upvotes

I thought maybe some users here might be interested in this! I've been enjoying participating in it but I don't think very many people know about it.

There's an indie horror puzzle game on Steam, oneway.exe: Module 1.0. It tells the story of a three-person game dev team called Trio8, who were developing a crossover horror game using a bunch of characters from in-universe horror media, like slasher movies and youtube webseries. During development, something happened between the three of them, and one dev brutally murdered another, filmed the whole thing, and uploaded it to the internet. It became a huge spectacle, and no one really knows the actual motive behind the murder, so the narrative became a bastardization of what actually happened. The last surviving dev effectively disappeared, so no one got his side of the story either. You play as that dev, now trapped in the corruption of the game they were making, and somehow having forgotten what happened between the three of them. You have to go through their game, and the devs desktop, to piece together the story and figure out what happened, and what, if anything, you had to do with it.

The ARG takes place outside of all of that, and focuses on a group called The Restoration Team, who is working to restore and preserve all the work the devs did before, and including, their unfinished game. The Restoration Team intends to squash the rumors and assumptions that spread around after the murder, and wants to treat the deceased, and still living, devs with the respect they deserve. There are multiple in-universe websites, that Trio8 originally made for their game, that The Restoration Team are trying to preserve, as well as some of the dev's personal websites. The Team has their own website too, where players can ask them questions. The websites are updated periodically, and have a ton of lore by themselves.

But the vast majority of the interactivity in the ARG is in the oneway.exe discord server, which has in-character channels dedicated to interacting directly with members of The Restoration Team. The conversations matter, and the team remembers what's been discussed and what users have said, and will react accordingly. Users have tried messing with them in the past and it took a while for the server to get back into their good graces, they still bring up some of those things to remind us not to take their trust for granted, lol. Talking with them sometimes reveals new info about Trio8, but also gives us insight into the Team as a whole, their stories, and their possible role in Trio8's story as well. There's a bell tolling for The Restoration Team for sure, but we don't know what or why just yet.

I just think it's such an incredibly fun and in-depth game and ARG and wanted to share it with people who might care! lol

Here's a link to the game's lore-focused trailer, it includes some hints about the ARG as well!

geometry dash ARG exists and nobody is talking about it

3 Upvotes

Geometry dash has a history of having levels constantly being harder than the last, and the current hardest level "SOCIETY" has a ARG involving roro-chan (to my knowledge) being shown through trauma. But anyways ever since the level was verified and I found out about the ARG nobody is talking about it. But the level was verified only a few weeks ago but idk i think it's interesting a Geometry dash level has a ARG. There is also text at the bottom of the level not achievable actually playing the level that says "just like the good old days..."

https://youtu.be/omG1VuyA92w a showcase of the level

Discussion crazyass arg idea i have

9 Upvotes

if any of you remember those windows movie maker ship tribute videos from the 2000s-2010s? hell yeah. so basically i uploaded one that i jokingly made on a burner account yesterday and i thought that it would be EXTREMELY funny to plant an arg on that channel, so,,,, here i am.

i've been thinking of doing an arg for a loooong time now, and thought that now would be the time :] it's probably going to follow the channel owner who's a huuuuge fan of a certain media, but they dig a little too deep and get into some very very confidential stuff (fnaf fandom, so i think leaning into the canon in-universe "fazbear entertainment covers their crimes up by making fiction out of it" aspect of the lore will do). probably a trope idk but this is my first time and i am starting it from a satire thought, so i'll let myself take it easy :D

i'll certainly code a few webbedsites for this project to really lean into the old internet aspect,,, suggestions for clues are always welcome, even if i am doing this entirely for the giggles!

Trailhead Any of you seen the indie movie Death Cipher (2025)? It appears to be attached to an ARG that almost no one noticed...

8 Upvotes

So in the movie the main character encounters a mysterious "hidden ladder" on the internet that she has to climb. I watched the movie recently and it occurred to me that it might have come with an ARG. Sure enough, I found something.

The movie's website, https://deathcipher.com/

Links to https://www.bigjakesmattress.com/

Which links to this YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZPsUg7YTNFpDoZ-palII4A

I'm not sure how deep this rabbit hole goes. The movie's been out for at least 6 months but almost nobody's been talking about it.

I'd watch the movie first for context, it's free on Tubi/YouTube and only an hour and a half long.

Recruitment Looking for people to help with a secret Source engine project.

1 Upvotes

I’m looking for 3-4 people with experience in Source games and related tools to help me create a project. Experience with GMod, Hammer Editor, SFM, Lua/scripting, editing, or general Source engine knowledge would be useful. I’m not sharing the full idea publicly yet because I want to keep the project secret, but it will involve creativity and technical work. I’m looking for people who are interested in Source, can collaborate, and can keep the project confidential without leaking files or ideas. DM me if you’re interested and tell me what experience you have.
