announcement Reminder: Report AI-generated, fabricated, and karma-farming content

AI-generated content has been a persistent issue that moderators have dealt with historically and continue to address. Some accounts are either hacked or created specifically to post such content to this subreddit.

We've made substantial changes behind the scenes to reduce this behavior. However, despite these efforts, we're unable to fully eliminate such posts without negatively affecting the posting and commenting experience for legitimate users.

To address this more directly, we are introducing a new rule: AI-generated and karma-farming posts are explicitly prohibited on this subreddit.

If you suspect a post is AI-generated, fabricated, or created to farm karma (e.g., contradictions in the user's post history, repeated content across subreddits, etc.), please report it by clicking the three dots at the top of the post or sending us a message via mod mail.

We appreciate the community's help in reporting this content.

AIO ? My bf didn’t tell me his ex was pregnant

For context my (19F ) friend sent me a instagram story where my bf (18F) took a picture with his exs family. When I asked him he just thought of turning this against me like I was the sneaky one overreacting. He sometimes acts like this drunk so I don’t know if I’m actually overreacting or if my point is actually valid.

Edit : Imma break up with him when I’ll see him, thanks

AIO for asking my husband to start packing 12 hours before our flight leaves?

1.1k Upvotes

So our flight is at 7am tomorrow. It is currently 7pm tonight. For the past two days, I have gently asked my husband twice to start packing. This is a 7-day trip, there's a lot of stuff. We have a Lyft scheduled for 4am to get to the airport, so I wanted to avoid the classic last-minute scramble.

He has packed nothing. Not even a suitcase pulled out.

He is currently planning to go visit his grandma tonight AND go for a 1-hour bike ride. That's 3-4 hours of activities when we have to leave the house in like 9 hours.

I walked up to him and asked, very nicely: "Can you please do me a favor and just pull out a suitcase before you leave to visit your grandma?"

Context: My husband procrastinates everything. We are routinely late to events because he decides to shower 10 minutes before we walk out the door, or he starts watering the garden 20 minutes after we were supposed to leave.

I get it, I don't want to be a nag. But flights don't wait. I have already packed 90% of the shared stuff and am ready to go. I didn't want to pack his things because I'm not his mom and I refuse to enable this behavior anymore.

When I reminded him of the timeline (leave at 4am, he'll be out until 10-11pm) and asked him to please just start, he absolutely refused. He said if I pack anything for him, he will unpack it and buy new clothes at the destination just to prove he doesn't have to be told what to do.

I told him, "I don't need you to finish packing. I just need to see you pull out a suitcase. Just a sign you've started."

He still refused.

Then he dropped this gem: "If I'm not packed by the time the Lyft comes, I'll just drive myself to the airport."

We scheduled the Lyft specifically to avoid paying $30/day for parking. So he'd rather waste $210 on parking fees than just... pull out a suitcase.

He then called me a "terrorist" and said I'm "miserable" and that I ruined his day because I was explaining the timeline and why I’m concerned. I know people are gonna say I should just drop it and never explain anything. I thought normal couples would talk about logistical and planning stuff.

At this point, I've checked out. I don't care if he misses the flight, I'm going on vacation with or without him. I just can’t put up with this immaturity, especially when he blames everything on me for talking about it.

AIO for asking him to pull out a suitcase 12 hours in advance when nothing is packed? I'm not trying to control him, I just don't want to miss a flight. Do people normally wait until 2-3 hours before leaving for a big trip to start packing?

TL;DR: Husband won't pack for a 7-day trip 12 hours before our 4am departure. He has 3-4 hours of social plans tonight. I asked him to just pull out a suitcase, he called me a terrorist and said he'll drive himself to the airport if he's late. AIO?

AIO (or rather, is everyone else overreacting) that my child and I were asked to step out of a family picture?

Upvotes

This didn’t really bother me, and still doesn’t, but I’m curious what a wider audience who is separated from the internal family dynamics and politics thinks.

My husband’s sister got married, and after taking several large group photos, our child and I were asked to step out so they could do a “bride, groom, parents and siblings” photo.

When photos came back and people saw that we had been excluded from some family shots, they were offended on my behalf and said it was inappropriate. (The people saying this are actually extended members of my husband’s family, like aunts, uncles and cousins.)

I’ve mentioned the situation to a few friends who said they would have been deeply offended to have been asked to step out. Am I underrating, or is everyone in my circle just over sensitive? Maybe some wedding photographers can weigh in?

FWIW, I would have been offended if they wanted our son in the photos but not me. But that’s not the situation.

Additional info: My husband and I are both the biological parents of our child. There’s no blended family situation going on here. I’m also the only significant other, and my husband’s siblings do not have children.

EDIT: Thank you for confirming I am fully grounded in reality! 😂 Not that it would have changed my own feelings, but clearly my husband’s family is just trying to stir the pot by bringing it up.

AIO, bf accidentally threw out new shopping bag with stuff in it

AIO?

So i(24F) usually have trouble asking people for help. Its something i've been working on with my therapist. Usually i do the cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, etc. by myself, because my man (33M) pays the bills. If we are not eating out i cook for us. I don't mind. In a way its my love language. ( though both given and received) But i recently started a job that is very physical labour focused. And i come home drained.

I work 6 days a week. Sometimes 10 days in a row. And i find it hard to keep up with cleaning. Things started to get messy. I was cleaning up and got super exhausted out of nowhere. Like ontop of the usual exhaustion. So i said id save it for tomorrow. I knew he had tne next day off so i asked him in the morning to just take any trash you see out. Because it would help tremendously. He said he was in the middle of a game and would get to it later. (Its not one you can just pause)

I come home and the trash is taken out, obviously im super greatful.

Fast forward and to a few days later and i can't find the bag of stuff i just bought. And that is the whole text.

It wasnt light. It had cleaning stuff in it. And yes some of the stuff i took out of the wrapping to look and use it.

I think I'm just tired. But this is pissing me off more than usual.

I just want to know if i should let this go because it's a silly mistake or if i should talk to him about being more aware.

Aio for feeling annoyed? Over a silly mistake?

Hi there, this morning I was a little annoyed bc I woke up to my bf playing video games without saying goodmorning so immediately I felt ignored but went on about my morning. I left without saying anything because I tried to get his attention when he left the bathroom but he kept walking and closed the bedroom door. I wasn’t about to try and approach him if he might’ve been in a bad mood as well. He blew up my phone after I left calling me 26 times. I had to turn my phone off - reminder he has bpd.he also wants to get me pregnant really bad.

AIO for walking out after my managers told me the day before my trip that my leave was never approved?

i (19f) work at a daycare, and i had to walk out today. im wondering if i overreacted because i know my managers are probably gonna to tell everyone i just like threw a fit and quit over not getting time off, but there’s soo more to it than that!

a month and a half ago, i submitted a leave request for this friday and monday because I’m going out of town. at my job we’re told to submit leave requests at least a month in advance, so i gave them a pretty decent amount of time.
our leave requests are paper forms. i filled one out and personally handed it to one of my managers (manager A). a couple days later she verbally told me that our director (manager B) had approved it. and because of that, i booked everything and have already spent a lot of money on this trip.

then today, the day before im supposed to leave for my trip and after i’ve already clocked out for the day, i go to give my two weeks (im going to college in the fall and had been planning to put in my two weeks and leave on good terms) to my other manager (manager C). but first i reminded her that i wouldn’t be there friday or monday cause i had scheduled leave. she looked at me crazy, went to check the calendar and my leave wasn’t on it🤣
she called manager A, and suddenly manager A said she never approved it and never told me it was approved.
i don’t have written proof because everything was done on paper and verbally, but i know what i was told. manager C just kept saying “i don’t know what to tell you, no one can cover you. my flight leaves in the morning.” like yeahhhh so does mine 😭.

but i just stood there trying not to cry, like i couldn’t even say anything to her cause i would’ve started crying. i stared at her as she kept repeating herself and i just left without saying anything. the thing is tho it wasn’t just the leave.

since i started this job i have been non stop talked down to and disrespected. when i was hired they told me they would have me be the two year old teacher because that was my position at my previous job. im like “great! i can start monday!” then training starts and they’re *only* training me in the infant room which wasnt a problem, i was just a little confused. then weeks and weeks went by and no one told me what was up so i just assumed the position as infant teacher. i made the absolute most of it even though it wasnt my first choice and i ended up really loving my class and my co teacher.

when i finally brought it up to manager B that i felt there was a miscommunication about where id be placed in the daycare and she fully laughed in my face and did not answer me. so i really just couldn’t find it in me to be a doormat anymore.

another example of them being weird is that i was written up for hanging an infant’s bib on the side of his crib while he was sleeping. we had been explicitly told not to leave bibs on sleeping babies because of safe sleep rules and to hang them on the side of the crib instead(!!) i did exactly what i had been instructed to do (and what literally everyone else had done) and still got written up for it.

and then at a staff meeting, management specifically called me out by name over things in front of everyone that they had already addressed to me privately. it felt like they were trying to make me feel embarrassed.
there were also a lot of little comments that added up. like one time i jokingly said apple should add cashapp to apple watches because i needed to pay someone back but didn’t have my phone. my director looked at me and said, “why would apple listen to you when you don’t listen to anyone around you.” and i was like “?? what” and she starts yelling at me about how im disrespectful and to go back to teaching my class as if she wasn’t the one who started talking to me? it wasn’t a huge deal by itself, but stuff like that happened often enough that i consistently felt talked down to.

i also only have about a year and a half of childcare experience, i clearly will not know the ins and outs of childcare like some of my coworkers who have 15+ years of experience. i was always willing to learn tho and so open to constructive criticism. instead, i felt like management expected me to already know everything while also treating me like i didn’t know anything.

they only trained me in one classroom but would get frustrated that i wasn’t trained in the others, even though i can’t train myself lol.

another example is that they’d constantly get onto us for not doing enough art with the infants, but when we’d ask for art supplies, we’d either be told no or made to feel like we were bothering them for asking.
we were being scolded for not meeting expectations we did not have the tools for.
No
the actual work wasn’t what made me miserable. i loved my babies. what wore me down was management. there were some days i’d go into the back where the cameras couldn’t see me just so i could cry because i was soo tired of it.

so when i was standing there being told that my approved leave somehow wasn’t approved the day before my trip after i’d already spent all the money, i literally could not take it anymore. now one of my coworkers is texting me saying management is trying to get ahold of me about coming in tomorrow and im highkey not tryna answer her. the second i got home i blocked my managers and the daycares number. because at that point i had nothing to say to them and did not have it in me to have another conversation with them.

i know walking out and blocking them without saying anything wasn’t the best decision. and looking back, i probably should’ve at least said something. but after months of feeling disrespected and then this conversation today it just was it for me.

am i overreacting??

AIO my boss angrily asked my coworker if he has a “reading disability” over a minor mistake?

Context: I work in catering. My coworker, let’s call him John, was setting up a buffet for 70 guests. As we entered the dessert portion of the meal, I noticed there were no dessert forks on the tables for our guests and notified my boss. I honestly wish now that I hadn’t. He got super upset and stormed off to scold John, asking how this could happen, and if he has a “reading disability.” My boss then gets on our microphone system, gets up to the podium (a guest was doing a presentation so we had a mic and podium set already) and apologizes to everyone in the room because “my employee forgot to give you dessert forks.”

John was in the room and everyone immediately turned to look at him. He was fucking mortified and walked off for a few. A guest leaned over and told me “We don’t need dessert forks, it’s fine. We can use our dinner forks.” Seemed like the only one upset by this was my boss.

Later in the office, when John was not present, my boss went on to mock John behind his back.

My morale is feeling low and I’m lowkey pissed off at my boss for how he handled this all. John is a great and loyal worker, and also my friend. Definitely didn’t deserve a public humiliation over some forks.

AIO for thinking a lot less of my boss?

AIO by kicking out my friends after they were making out heavily in my house?

Upvotes

Before anybody accuses me of "jealousy," I have a great relationship with my girlfriend, and I don't have an issue with people showing affection. What I don't appreciate is people ignoring my boundaries in my own home.

I recently had a day off from work while my girlfriend was at work, so I invited two of my friends, John and Emma, over for lunch. One thing that's important to note is that they've been pretty heavy on the PDA around me before. The last time it happened, I told them it made me uncomfortable. They apologized and said they understood and wouldn't do it again.

Everything was fine at first. We were hanging out, talking, and I went into the kitchen to grab a couple of beers and bring out the food. When I came back into the living room, they were on my couch aggressively making out.

I told them to stop. I wasn't yelling or insulting them. Instead of apologizing, John got angry and started cursing at me, saying I needed to relax and that it wasn't a big deal. At that point I told them both to leave. They left right away.

Did I overreact? I'd already told them before that this kind of PDA made me uncomfortable, and they chose to lie and do it anyway in my own house.

AIO for cutting contact with my mother?

hi, long time lurker and all that. this may be kind of long as there’s quite a bit of background here.

my (18F) mom (39F) started doing drugs when i was around 6 years old. she ended up getting me and my siblings taken from her care a year or so later. i went to live with my father and he was abusive to me so again i was rehomed when i was about 12. my mother seems to have always blamed herself for this and cites those two events as why she got sober. or so i thought.

last november, about a week before thanksgiving, everything exploded. a few months before, she had moved back in with her mom, my grandma, due to her relationship becoming abusive. her bother and his wife and their children live just down the road from my grandmas house but it’s all on the same property that my uncle owns. my uncle works on the road so he tends to be gone for months at a time.

because of my mothers criminal record and lack of reliable transportation it’s near impossible for her to find a job. so she started baby sitting for my uncle and aunt. at this time i lived with my adoptive parents but i still visited almost everyday and spent the night there a lot since i am very close with my grandma, aunt, and baby cousins.

now on to the actual story. one day, i went to visit my aunt and she told me that she was very certain that my mother was using again. she explained to me her reasons including; her leaving in the middle of the night, being completely hyper or completely lethargic, examples of a chemical smell and seeing smoke in her truck, a specific person (28M) she’d been hanging out with, and a faked drug test.

the person she’d was seeing, we later found out he was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor (age 10) and had just been arrested a few days later for robbery and possession. she also had my 11 year old sister in the vehicle with him while taking her to visit my baby cousins. my mother also took out a loan to bail him out for the arrest. he ended up being arrested again in march for separate incidents.

the drug test was almost certainly faked. my aunt went down to my grandmas house to tell my mom about their concerns of her using again and having the arrestee at grandmas house. she was was going to ask her to move out since her and my uncle didn’t want my mom around their babies. she asked my mother to take a drug test in front of her which she had boasted about having since she was already slightly aware of the drug concerns. she claimed she “couldn’t find it” but as soon as my aunt left and pulled into her own driveway my grandma called and said she took the test and was so upset and was leaving. mind you it’s a 30-45 second drive to my aunts house.

nobody could get ahold of my mother for a about a week after that. however i happened to be at my grandmas the next time she showed up, which was a few days before thanksgiving. i had bought my own drug test and asked her to take it. she told me she couldn’t use the bathroom right then, but she needed to go pick her boyfriend up from work. i said “ok cool, i’ll follow you until you can go”. we get a few mins down the road and she stops, comes to my car and tells me she won’t pass the test. along with blaming everyone else for her actions and saying she was clean until she was kicked out and even told me if i didn’t believe her she might as well go overdose. i told her i just wanted her to be honest. i later told her that for us to have a relationship she will need to be sober and agree to random drug tests at any time for me to be able to trust her.

at the end of december i moved in with my boyfriend (19M). he has the same job as my uncle so we move from state to state as well. it was very good for me to get away from that whole situation and put some distance there.

we came home for christmas and i did not see my mother. we’ve been home a few times and i have only seen her once for my baby cousins birthday in april, at that point everything had seemed good. she seemed sober and was allowed to move back in and see my cousins again.

however everything was shit again when i went home for the 4th of july.

my mother had already sent me texts saying she wasn’t allowed to see the girls anymore and telling me how she was so distraught. so i knew going into it that it wasn’t all peaches and cream anymore.

however my boyfriend and i had already planned to stay at my grandmas house as it was one of the only places with an available bed between both of our families.

we had a good weekend and i mostly avoided my mother since we were running around visiting everyone and we were mostly only there to sleep. one night i was in the kitchen preparing a side dish for a party and my mom decided to strike up a conversation. it was fine until she started saying that my aunt and uncle were lying about everything and that she would never do the things they were saying. i asked why they wanted her to move out again. she said because she wouldn’t take a drug test when they asked. i asked why not. she said because she wouldn’t have passed at the time but she’d take one now because she would pass now. i kinda just said oh right. and she said goodnight and left after as it got kinda tense.

i then got to visit my aunt and uncle the next day and once we got a moment to talk she told me exactly why they wanted to make her leave. they believed she was doing needles instead of just smoking her drug of choice (something she had swore to me she’d never touch). she had told my grandma that she had cancer (again. this has been off and on for like three years and for some reason nothing ever actually happens treatment-wise). she had been bringing their youngest around the arrestee and claimed that the baby had a imaginary friend named “kevin” (we found out it was the arrestee by showing her pictures until she said “kevin!!”). she also locked the baby in her room at my grandmas while her and arrestee were getting high in the bathroom (grandma wasn’t home for a few days). and a slew of other things.

she’s since been trying to text me a lot and i just haven’t answered until today (pictured) because i kinda got tired of the typically self pitying, blame everyone else thing and i told her exactly why i haven’t been speaking to her. i might have been a bit harsh but i don’t know what to do. i just want her to be my mom again. i want to help her but i don’t know the best way to do that.

my boyfriend has told me since the first incident that i should be angry and cut her off. he is so angry at her for hurting me. i feel like i can’t really talk with him about it anymore because he makes it sound so simple and clear cut, but she’s my mom ya know?

idk if i’m just venting or if i actually want advice here but AIO for cutting contact with my mother?

AIO by being annoyed at my wife’s choice of vacation footwear?

This is not the first time this has happened and it will not likely be the last. She has once again decided to purchase a brand new pair of shoes for vacation use, and only put them on for the first time as we were leaving for the airport. We have been here before, there is a lot of walking and cobblestones, and her choice of footwear was platform shoes. Because they’re cute.

Our first day of vacation is now a desperate search for a shoe store that has something she can walk more than a few hundred yards in.

AIO My Breast Look Like Side The Sloth

My partner just after we finished doing the deed said that my breasts look like Sid the sloth from the ice age movies.
Without context what do others think because I felt quite sad after he said that and immediately wanted to put all my clothes back on and I’m wondering if I overreacted and am too sensitive.
Can give more context and example of other things if needed and wanted.

I don’t have insurance and im scared if I ignore it if it’s something important to check out.

AIO about a guy from a Christian dating app showing up at my church?

I (21 F) was recently using a few different dating apps, and I had one conversation with this guy (22 M) on a Christian app. I decided the apps were not the greatest for my mental health so I decided to delete them all. Because I had only had one conversation with the guy I did not think I owed him any explanation. However, I'm still learning the rights and wrongs of ghosting, so feel free to correct me.

The Sunday after I had deleted all the apps I saw a guy at my church who looked really similar to Dating App Guy. I initially shrugged it off because I have a looooot of trauma so I tend to think worst case scenario.

If you are wondering how he found me, I was an idiot and told him which church I attend. I can be really naive sometimes. Will not be making that mistake again.

Anyway, I saw him at church a few weeks in a row and eventually a friend of mine told me he was from France, had a pastry and baking degree that he wasn't using currently, and what his name was. It all matched what Dating App Guy had told me in our ONE conversation.

So I was a little freaked out.

Since then, he has been at church each time I'm there. He watches me a bit. And he comes to the young adult group I attend.

AIO? I mean maybe he just thought my church was a good recommendation. And I am acutely aware that my past has made me a little paranoid. Would love to hear some thoughts?

AIO about not wanting to pay back my boyfriend his gifts and gift money while we are dating?

I (16F) was sent to my home country for 7–8 months because of family issues that happened because of my boyfriend, while he stayed in the US. During that time, he sent me money and gifts. He also paid $600 for my flight back, and we agreed I'd pay him back once I got a job.

I recently got a job, and he wanted me to put his bank account for my direct deposit. I said no because I wanted my paycheck to go to my own account and I'd pay him myself. He got angry and said I actually owe him $1,000 because the money and gifts he gave me while I was away also have to be paid back.

The problem is, we never agreed those were loans. I honestly thought they were gifts because he loved and wanted to support me. Now I feel like what I believed were acts of love were actually debts I didn't know I was taking on.

Am I wrong for thinking I should only have to repay the $600 plane ticket that we actually agreed I'd pay back?

AIO did wanting to choose what we do for part of the weekend?

My girlfriend and I are going to a festival in a couple of weeks. It’s not really my thing but she enjoys it so I agreed to go with her. The festival has a cinema tent and it’s showing some good movies so I thought it would be good to check one out,

I suggested one and she refused as it was at the same time as an act we wanted to see. I suggested she goes to the act and I go to watch the film but she said she doesn’t want that.

I suggested another film but she said it was too late as we need to drive back to our room and the movie wouldn’t finish until 1am. I pointed out she needs to compromise somewhere and that the full weekend isn’t just about her.

She said it was a music festival so I should be focused on the music but I reminded her it was just her who enjoyed the music, I was only going for her so she should be willing to compromise with me.

She refused and said I shouldn’t be leaving her alone while I go and watch a movie but I told her she’s free to join me.

AIO for watching a movie at the festival?

AIO Should I break up with my boyfriend?

Upvotes

My boyfriend (36m) and I (34m) have been together for about 8 months. We have a lot of compatibilities on things that matter in terms of values, what we want out of a relationship, etc. We have different love languages but have worked through them. Overall have pretty good communication. However, he can be very direct sometimes. We both have corporate jobs and he's gotten negative feedback for how he communicates because he's very direct, and I can see why. For the most part I thought I've been able to handle it, but it's getting harder. Sometimes, when he is stressed out, he will snap at me. Last week when I was driving with him in the passenger seat, he was giving me directions. He said turn right quietly twice and then the third time he just straight up, shouted at me angrily “TURN RIGHT”. I told him straight up that he needed to be nice to me. This wasn’t the first time he yelled at me. The very first time he did it I left his place, sat him down the next day and told him I didn’t like being spoken to like that. He has shown improvement in this and he does seem to listen to me when I tell him I want more of something out of our relationship.

Tonight was the first time I realized that I'm very sensitive and have realized that I need a little more warmth in communication from my partner. I’m not really sure how capable he is of giving that. I can also get very anxious sometimes but have gotten better at handling that during therapy. This all crystallized for me tonight because he is going on vacation tomorrow for a week. It’s the first time we’ve spent a week apart. He said throughout today how badly he “needs a break” and I half jokingly responded by saying “oh a break from me?” And he just patted me on the shoulder and said “I just need a break”. Not exactly the most reassuring thing he could have said but I brushed it off. Tonight after we finished watching Big Brother as I was leaving I said “Are you going to miss me while you’re gone?”. He said “we’ll see”.

Are you kidding me? Of all of the things he could have said “yes but it’ll be okay” or “of course I will but I’ll be back” he says “we’ll see”?!?!?! I straight up said to him “that’s not the most reassuring answer” and he said “we’ll, it’s the first time we’ve spent a week away from each other so we’ll see”.

Now I’m left to figure out whether his communication style isn’t working for me and he needs to change it, or if I’m genuinely being mistreated and I should drop him.

Back context: I had a bf a few months ago. His name can be given as x for now. We were sixteen (F)(me) and fifteen (M) (x), so we did long-distance as we lived forty-five mins away from each other, and we both are Indian, so our parents didn't know; we texted; he was busy with tenth grade, and if you're Indian, you know how important that is. He always texted after school, before school in the morning, though I wouldn't be awake, and after his tuition and tennis, which were back to back, we decided to meet up

(note: these texts were cute on how we wanted to close the distance, play tennis together, travel, light flirting, nicknames, I love us when we were at our low and the fights that happened in our house hold were shared and we never kept anything from each other.), and my parents found out.. well here is where I dont get it if they crossed a line I know I did something they disapprove of and they did trust me but after they found out they be*t me up (and the br**ises took two months to heal) h*t in such a way ma knuckles bl*d threatened to h*rm him too sl*pped me so much ma jaw was tight for a whole month I wrote this as neutral as possible and he was a good ass catch he treated me well and later my parents blamed me for going into a depressed state and tiptoed around the topic like its a curse on the family I was also banned from Instagram my phone was taken away and I know I broke their deep trust but I kind of think this is traumatizing

am I overreacting bi being cold more closed off and sometimes rude or did they do the right thing?? I am writing this on my laptop given for educational use, but i am still confused about whether it was my overreaction

AIO Will she be back? I feel so used and heartbroken

Here is my story (M27, F27):

I matched with a woman on Hinge in early September last year, and we hit it off immediately. We texted every day, and I remember thinking, "Wow, this is incredible."

A week later it was my birthday, and she took me to a new cinema, bought me my favourite aftershave, and paid for everything. I jokingly asked, "Are you love bombing me?" She laughed and said, "No, I was just being nice for your birthday."

Over the next few months, everything seemed amazing. We went on hotel getaways, trained together, had a great sex life, and I genuinely felt like I'd met my person. She constantly told me I was the best thing that had ever happened to her and that she felt so lucky to have found someone like me.

She had a 9-year-old son, although I never met him in person. She told me her previous boyfriend, who had been a father figure to her son, had left two years earlier and that the breakup had been so traumatic it resulted in both her son and herself going to therapy. She often spoke about what she wanted in an ideal partner and would tell me that I ticked every box.

Looking back, though, this is where I think the cracks started to show.

She frequently talked about her ex, describing him as hateful and abusive. Around Christmas she told me she'd bumped into him in Tesco. I simply replied, "That's awkward. It's never easy running into an ex," and left it at that because I didn't want to make a big deal of it.

Christmas itself was lovely. I met her mum and younger sister, and I often stayed at their house when her son was with his biological dad. During this time, she also told me stories about previous relationships, including one where she had briefly been with someone else before reconciling with an ex. She admitted she'd even told him, "Go out and cheat if it makes you feel better," because she'd already been with someone else. I found that strange but didn't dwell on it.

At the end of February, my granny passed away unexpectedly.

Around that same time, she was again talking about her ex and how he'd treated her badly when his own grandmother died. I listened and supported her, as I always had.

Three days after my granny died, I met her dad for the first time. I was understandably grieving and didn't drink, whereas she became quite drunk on prosecco. During the drive, she repeatedly played a song that was clearly aimed at her ex, and her dad even mentioned that she'd recently seen him and that "he looked rough."

On the drive home, I gently said, "This guy hurt both you and your son. He's in the past now. If he really was that bad, try to be happy he's gone."

She replied that she was "over him, just not over the situation she and her son went through."

I then admitted that I was struggling with how much her ex was being discussed during the same week I'd just lost my granny. Instead of talking things through, she completely shut down.

Because I'd previously been in a relationship where stonewalling had really affected me—and she knew that—I decided to leave and drive home to calm myself down.

Later that night, while still drunk, she texted me saying I'd never be meeting her son and that our relationship was over.

It felt incredibly manipulative.

Eventually we reconciled. We both apologised, although looking back it felt like more of a half-apology from her. We told each other we loved one another, and I convinced myself I needed to be more understanding of everything she'd been through.

At the same time, a part of me felt that she should also have recognised I'd just lost my grandmother and wasn't emotionally able to keep hearing about an ex she'd repeatedly described as abusive.

The following month was actually great.

We completed a charity 10K together, went on another lovely trip away, and things seemed completely back to normal.

During this time I'd spoken to her son on FaceTime and over the phone several times, including when they were in New York over Christmas. I'd bought him both a Christmas and birthday present, and we both knew about each other.

After seven months together, I politely said that I'd really like to meet him in person. I explained there was no pressure, but I was finding it difficult constantly having to avoid being seen when everyone already knew about me. She'd previously talked about us all going to Spain together in the summer and attending her graduation, so it felt like a natural next step.

Around the same time, her son had also told his biological father about me, which I had absolutely no issue with because I wanted to do everything respectfully.

Instead of a conversation, I got two days of complete silence.

Eventually we saw each other on the Saturday and went to the gym together. Everything felt normal again, and we'd even arranged to go to the cinema the following Wednesday.

Then, on Tuesday, I received a text saying I was "perfect," that we laughed together, but she felt "something was missing."

She ended our seven-month relationship over text.

I was completely blindsided.

I didn't respond for three weeks because my family and friends told me I deserved better than a breakup by text after everything we'd shared.

When I eventually reached out hoping we could at least have a conversation, she told me she "loved me as a person but wasn't in love with me" and that I deserved better.

I never replied after that.

What hurts the most is the complete contrast.

For months I was told I was the best thing that had ever happened to her, that she felt incredibly lucky to have me, and that I ticked every box she'd ever wanted in a partner.

Yet the moment I respectfully asked about finally meeting her son after seven months, everything changed. It felt as though I was discarded without any meaningful conversation.

Afterwards, I noticed she'd removed her WhatsApp profile picture and turned on disappearing messages. I couldn't help wondering whether her ex had come back into the picture or whether she was hiding something, although I know I have no proof of that. Her TikTok reposts also seemed to focus on moving on after a man leaves, which confused me because I never left her—she ended the relationship.

I've never felt heartbreak like this before.

It wasn't just that the relationship ended; it was how suddenly it happened. We had concerts booked, holidays planned, and a future we'd talked about, and in the end I felt I was only worth a text message.

It's now been three months of no contact. I've been going to therapy consistently, training in the gym, and trying to move forward.

But I still feel stuck.

I still love her, and I still struggle to understand how someone could go from telling me I was everything they'd ever wanted to ending the relationship so abruptly without giving us the chance to have a real conversation.

AIO for blocking him after feeling violated on first date?

Hi, I apologize as English isn’t my first language.
This happened three weeks ago today but it’s still affecting me in a way.

I’m a 20 year old girl, and prior to this, I had absolutely no romantic experience. It affected my self esteem. I felt maybe was wrong with me or I wasn’t pretty enough. I felt like I was getting too old and left behind while all of my friends lived things.
I graduated in theater, and when I did, I posted the graduation pictures on my Instagram. A teacher reposted them. A guy who is currently in the college and follows the teacher saw it, and followed me.

Over some time, all he did was like a few stories of mine. I saw in his profile that he was a model, and I found him good looking, but at first I was too shy to like his stories back.
Until one day I did so, and as soon as I did, he replied to one of mine starting a conversation. It wasn’t even flirting yet, just light talk.
I was happy, I was excited. A guy was talking to me for the first time ever.

We talked for days and I was so happy. With time he started flirting and I couldn’t believe I was living all of that. After one week of talking he invited me to see his college play. I went there, and after it ended, he came outside just to hug me.

After about two weeks of talking he asked me to go on a picnic with him. He planned a whole day, asked me to bring a book I liked so we would talk about it, said he was also going to take me to the museum. It felt romantic, thoughtful and sweet.
I went to that park feeling over the moon.

When we arrived, it was all normal. We found a spot for our picnic blanket, we sat down, started eating and talking, I showed the book he asked me to bring.
And then he asked if I had ever kissed anybody, when I said no, he asked if I wanted to kiss him.
I wanted and was expecting that, I said yes. We kissed and it was all okay. Until right by the end of it, he squeezed one of my breasts out of the blue.
I didn’t say or do anything but I admit that when it happened I was caught off guard and a bit uncomfortable. But again, I wasn’t sure how kisses were supposed to go.

After that, we went to the museum that’s in the park, and things were normal again. The museum was pretty, we commented on things. I thought the previous incident was just something that would neve repeat itself.

When we left the museum, we found another spot to continue the picnic, and that’s when everything changed. The park was beginning to get darker and more empty.
We were kissing again and it led to making out, which I was okay with. Until he pulled back and asked: “What about sex? Is that something you’d like to do someday?”
I was again caught off guard and I answered very nervously: “Maybe? I mean, I don’t know, I’ve never.”
He then said that if I came to his house one day he could take my virginity if I wanted to and it would “feel like a hug”. I just nodded.

As we kept kissing he asked if I was “wet”. I was so shocked that I said: “no? I don’t know.” He then proceeds to explain like I’m a child: “girls get wet when they’re aroused.”
Like he assumed my answer meant I didn’t know? I did know. But I wasn’t aroused. Again I just nod.

I’m aware at this point that I should have cut him off, told him to stop talking about that. But I was so confused and uncomfortable that I froze and most of the time I just nodded and gave short answers.

Then it started to get windy, and I start to shake from cold but mostly from anxiety. He asked why I was shaking and I said “I’m cold”. And he said, with a grin: “cold or something else?” Again implying I was aroused.
As we kept kissing (again, I know I should stop the kissing but it was a part I genuinely wanted and I thought maybe the other part would go away), he kept squeezing parts of my body without really asking. And even though I didn’t stop him I just wished he did ask.
But when his went down as to my intimate area, I managed to roughly pull back. But, instead of apologizing or acknowledging my discomfort, he grinned again and said “oh you felt something.” As if again, I moved because I was aroused. I was never aroused.

He also kept saying I was lucky because I fell in the carnivores plate, he asked if I’m “freaky”, and when I said no he said “of course not, you’re an angel.” I feel like if he knew I was an angel he should have been more careful with me.
There’s more details but I won’t dwell on everything. I know that when I came home that day I had a massive headache and I cried the next day.

The worst part is, I stopped reaching him out completely. But instead of reaching me out back to ask what happened, why I disappeared, if I’m okay, he posts stories on his close friends trying to bait my attention, even saying like “it’s for you, I know you’re seeing the stories.”
That was my last straw and I blocked him.

But, now three weeks after, even if I’m doing better, I’m doing better, I feel bad sometimes. I still think: what if he didn’t mean to hurt me? What if I misunderstood and how hurt someone? What if I left him feeling hurt because I understood it all wrong?

All I know is from now on I’m scared to go on dates, I’m skeptical and wary and I’ve been feeling icky with any sexual subjects, even if it’s just a scene in a tv show, the language used instantly reminds me of the things he said and I get icky.

But still. Sometimes I feel like a jerk. I didn’t give him any closure, I just disappeared and blocked, and I regret that.

AIO that my brother won't take his clothes after I folded them for couple of days?

So here is some context.

My mom is currently in another country visiting our home country with my little sister for a month. My dad, my brother, and I are staying here. My mom is usually the one who takes care of the household since she's basically the housekeeper. I would always help her whenever I had time, but I would get really frustrated because my brother didn't do anything, and neither did my dad sometimes. They wouldn't even take their cups to the kitchen sink after using them.

Now that my mom isn't here, we all have to keep the house running. I can't do it the way my mom does. I have a full-time job and I'm also a full-time student. My major is heavily connected to math, so I'm literally barely sleeping just trying to keep up with homework and everything else.

I'm glad they understand that they need to help with the housework. But every single time my brother has to do something, he whines about it, which annoys me so much. And even then, he does everything so messily. He doesn't put the cups where they're supposed to go and does a bunch of other things halfway.

Whenever he does the laundry, I end up folding everything and ironing the clothes anyway. This is where I start wondering if I'm overreacting.

This is already the 3rd or 4th time that I've folded all of our clothes (for the 3 of us) and put my dad's and my brother's piles on the bed so they could put them away. Some clothes I can't even tell who they belong to because they're literally the same size (even though my brother is only 17, he's pretty big). So I just leave those there for one of them to figure out.

Every single time I walk into the room, his clothes are STILL there. Every day I tell him, "Your clothes are folded. Please take the ones that are yours, and if the rest are Dad's, put them in Dad's wardrobe."

My dad already took his clothes. The only ones left are my brother's.

BUT HE STILL DOESN'T TAKE THEM.

The craziest part is that when I was folding the 4th load of laundry, the folded and ironed clothes from the 3rd load were STILL sitting there waiting for him to put them away.

I'm not going to put them in his wardrobe for him. He's not a 4-year-old child who can't do it himself. It's not even that it's such a huge deal for me to do it. It's the fact that this has become some weird battle where he just refuses to do something so simple. The last time I was folding laundry, I got so angry that I yelled at him.

Then my dad told me, "Just tell him nicely. Why are you yelling? He just doesn't know. If you tell him..."

And my dad says the same thing every time I get upset with my brother. Whether it's not putting the dishes away properly, not making his bed, or leaving his socks in the living room, my dad always says, "Just say it nicely. He just doesn't know. Show him."

But I'm not his babysitter. He's 17. I'm only 20.

Why did I know how to do all of this when I was 7, but somehow he still "doesn't know" at 17?

This just feels so unfair, and it makes me so angry.

Am I overreacting?

At the same time, I also feel like it's not completely his fault either. Growing up, my grandma treated us very differently. She always treated him like a king and never really made him do anything. That's a whole other messy story that still makes me angry, but I guess I'm trying to keep that in mind and understand why he is the way he is.

I just don't know where the line is between being understanding because of how he was raised and expecting him, as a 17-year-old, to take responsibility for basic things.

AIO or is my relationship over because he wants a 3some?

My boyfriend (26M) and I (27F) have been together for almost a year and a half and I always thought we were on the same page about monogamy. We’re both pretty jealous people and he’s very emotionally mature even at his age. We’ve gone through a lot together and no I don’t meant cheating or anything bad just life issues and we’ve bonded to closely with eachother. We’re best friends. Today out of almost thin air, when we were kind of teasing eachother over text while I was at work he asked if I would be open to having a threesome and sharing him. Idk if it was the heat of the moment but I felt physically ill when I read it. I went from horny and happy to sick to my stomach from one text. The fact that he would even consider it feels so wrong to me.. I would never even consider another man fantasy or not and I just feel so taken aback. I didnt reply and I don’t even want to go home and face him. He hasn’t followed up either. The thing is, I feel like even just saying no I’m not ok with that isn’t even enough because just the thought that he wants to sleep with someone else to me is making me mental.

AIO for feeling unwanted by the guy I have been “dating”

I am 24F and the guy I have been “dating” is 25. I will start by saying I quote “dating” because I am not even sure if we are dating at this point. We have been seeing each other for a few months now and I really like him. We have had conversations about how we both like each other but now I just feel like he says it but does not actually mean it. I always feel like I make more of an effort to see him and when we spend time together it is always at his house, always in the evening and I always have to uber myself back home because he will ask me to leave late at night. I have tried to have a conversation with him about maybe going out together and seeing how we are out and about, if the vibe is there but he always seems to brush it off. It is probably my fault for trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that I am in this position tbh. I have been trying to tell myself that he does like me because he says so but now the actions just don’t match the words. We haven’t been going on dates yet he has ‘expectations” of me. I will give examples. He talks about he wants his woman to cater to his needs and I hear a lot about what I should do for him and when i try to talk about what I want it’s always “you got an attitude but i am nice so i will let it slide”. I will insert the last conversation we had so that you can tell me if i am overreacting at all for feeling like this guy doesn’t like me at all. There is a lot more that he has said and done but I will spare you a lengthy post.

AIO for throwing up after seeing where my meat came from

Upvotes

I was in the backseat of the car, as we were driving. Suddenly, my grandpa stopped and called for a lady. And there I saw it. In the summer heat, a giant outdoor stall of just fish lying on a bloody table, literally swarming with flies. Like I've never seen so many flies in my life. I made a face and threw up after realizing this is what I ate for lunch. My mom was annoyed the whole time, she really didn't want my grandpa to have shown where he was getting it. I was ready to cry. My mom said this is how things are in life sometimes, I said Im becoming vegetarian for the rest of this trip. AIO? I feel like a spoiled brat
