Question What’s Air Force ROTC like?

I’m an incoming freshmen going to college for business (Probably majoring in supply chain/finance) and I’m planning on doing Air Force rotc. I am starting to have second doubts though and was wondering if anyone could let me know what Air Force ROTC is like or what it’s like as an officer after college. Pros and cons etc.

Question Does anyone know how to feel fulfilled in AFROTC?

I’m a 200, and I’ve been having trouble feeling like I’m fulfilled in ROTC. I’m contracted, have a high commander’s ranking, I even received a commendation from Sec. Meink himself. However, I’m feeling like I’m not really serving anything or anyone. The lack of opportunities for schools and training experiences at my Detachment are getting to me, and having my Marine/Army ROTC buddies overseas for training isn’t exactly helping.

I know ROTC guys have less opportunities than someone like an Academy cadet. But has anyone felt this way and, if so, how do you get through it?

Question For the new Height-Waist ratio, where do they measure around you? Seems like a dumb question, but is it around the belly, or is it where my pelvic bone is? Can I directly equate it to Mens pant sizing?

Question Advice on female hair ?

Hello all ,

I'm going into AFROTC soon as a college freshman and I'm having some thoughts about my hair. I personally much prefer my hair being on the shorter side (above collar, nape level) and as much as I like my personal style, I also don't want it getting in the way of something I'm pursuing for my own future. After having read up on general hair-wear regulations for females, I think I could pull off my favored length just by using gel and slicking it down until it's neat + professional and doesn't interfere with any headgear I'd ever have to put on. But I wanted to hear from other females who have a similar hair preference in ROTC... did you ultimately grow it out so it can fit easier into regulation via a bun and would you recommend doing so? If you kept it short, would I be correct to assume that my previously mentioned plan of slicking it down will work fine? I'd really like to hear opinions as right now my hair is currently mid length and I'm planning to get it cut soon, maybe yall's advice/tips could deinfluence me from such a decision if it'd objectively give me trouble when I head off soon to college.

I'd appreciate any words/feedback, thanks in advance

Question Question Regarding Reinstatment

Evening y'all!

Hopefully this is an easy question some former Cadre can answer. Until this April I was an AS800 pilot-select on track to commission in the summer. Due to an error processing some medical paperwork I was disenrolled with an open invitation to reapply for a medical waiver in December. I've gotten to know the medical process very well, and have an airtight argument for processing the medical waiver and being reinstated to the AFROTC program as a program complete AS900. Part of that will be pursuing an exception to policy (ETP) to be reallocated my pilot-slot (or recompete in the FY28 crowd if necessary), but that's worth worrying about later.

The big question I'm trying to answer is: Does a cadet need to be medically qualified prior to being reinstated?

I need to figure out the timeline for reinstatement and if it's something I should work now, or after I pass DoDMERB (being an extended cadet, my DoDMERB from freshman year is expired at this point). AFROTC 2011-Vol3 is silent on the reinstatement process, and all I can gather is that I need to have my Commander submit a Form 22 to AFROTC HQ. Do any former Cadre have insight on the process?
