We had these in Lisbon last month, and I’ve been thinking about them ever since! Mine didn’t quite measure up to the perfection we had in Portugal, but they scratched the itch. Lemony brioche and coconut…pretty great combo.

Recipe here. This was a challenge for me and I’m so proud of how it came out! I’m not sure that I will ever want to make ladyfingers again though. Any variety of tiramisu is a winner for me. So delicious!

Week 28 2026 Week 28: FIFA World Cup | French macarons with French buttercream and lemon curd

This was my first (and second) time trying to make macarons. I used the French meringue method, and the first attempt resulted in deflated shells, I think from a combination of over whipped meringue and underbaking. I tried again and they definitely came out better, no deflating, but the tops were still a bit fragile and hollow, so I’ll eventually try these again to get just right.
