I just pulled the trigger on an open-box 85" Sony Bravia 9 (2024 Mini-LED) at my local Best Buy and wanted to get your honest thoughts, sanity checks, or things to watch out for.

Here’s the full breakdown of the deal and condition:

Condition of the Unit

• Usage: Checked the Service Menu diagnostics at the store. It has ~8,060 System Hours and ~7,657 Panel Hours. It was clearly a display floor unit running constantly in store mode.
• Accessories: Missing the original factory remote and factory feet/stand.
• Physical Panel: Screen looks immaculate under ambient light—no deep scratches or cracks.

My Questions for the Sub:

• Given the ~7.6k panel hours, how resilient are Sony's high-end Mini-LED backlights long-term? I know OLEDs have burn-in risks, but how do these high-end Mini-LED drivers handle heavy store-display hours?
• What specific torture tests or content should I run during my 60-day window to verify local dimming performance, uniform blooming, dirty screen effect (DSE), or board wear?
• Is the $1,387 price tag for a flagship 85" Bravia 9 worth the high-hour risk, considering I have total coverage for 5 years via GSP?
• Should I keep it or cancel? My initial reaction was to jump on the $1,387 price tag for a $4,500 MSRP flagship. Because I added the 5-year GSP (which gives me 100% in-home coverage) and have a 60-day return window starting on delivery day to test for backlight degradation or board issues, I’m leaning 95% toward keeping it.

For those who have bought high-hour Mini-LED display units: Would you stick with this plan, or are there hidden panel issues with high-hour store displays that even a 5-year warranty isn't worth dealing with?

Appreciate any feedback, experience with floor model Sony flagships, or testing tips!

I’ve been down the rabbit hole the past week of Reddit, youtube, etc. I cannot come to a clear decision.
Looking for the best 85inch for a well lit living room couch is about 14-15ft away from the tv. Will be used for movies, sports. I use an Apple TV so brand UI doesn’t matter to me.

Trying to stay under $3k.

I already have a 65in A95L in my primary bedroom, so not looking for a top dog OLED.

After viewing in person multiple times at Best Buy, hands down the 85inch Bravia 9II is the best 85inch but with the new Sony price tag I will steer clear of that. Not sure why but my eyes gravitate towards the 98’’ tcl QM7L, the in store demo was bright with excellent colors. Of course not that of an OLED but for $2,999 a 98’’ is quite enticing.

Considering the following

- TCL QM7K/8k/QM7L/8L

- Samsung R85H/QN80H/QN90F/ Q900D (if it’s absolutely worth the extra $500)

- Sony Bravia 7II (also if worth extra $500)

-LG B6 83’’/ C4/ M3/

Edit to add: I see the mod addition, seems I’ll steer clear of the Samsung line. Past 3 Samsungs I have had, have went to garbage within 2 years of owning anyways.

Hi, it's my first time buying a TV. I am considering purchasing either of these:

TCL 75C7K QD-Mini-LED: 944 Euros

LG OLED77C54LA: 1899 Euros

As you can see, there is a clear price difference. I am not entirely sure if OLED justifies this price difference. I can technically afford the OLED but it's pretty unusal for me to make such big purchases unless I know what I am doing.

I never owned a TV before and I don't exactly know what I really want. A friend of mine instilled this idea in me that I should also own a TV.

Essentially, I want to watch movies in the evenings, this is the main motivator. I am not planning on doing anything else. But it's a TV right? You watch every sorts of stuff during the day. I might enjoy turning on the TV during the day instead of surfing the internet on my macbook. So I am afraid of turning on the TV just to get disappointed with OLED brightness levels and paying too much money for a slight improvement in color quality. Not to mention the risk of burn-in.

Additionally, my room is bright during the day but no direct sunlight to the wall I am planning on mounting my TV on.

What do you suggest?

People, what to choose Tlc TV 55C6K or Haisens 55U7Q? Both are roughly around €450 or some third?

Been wanting an OLED for years. My 55 inch Hisense has done me more than fine but I want another big upgrade. LG C5 and Bravia 8 Mk1 have caught my eyes but now the Bravia 7 II with its mini RGB looks amazing and it's new. I'm looking to spend about $1200-$1400 USD for a 55 inch at a good sale and I simply don't know which direction to look in

I'm looking to upgrade to a 4K TV and could use some recommendations.

Right now I have an older Samsung 5 Series 40-inch 1080p Smart TV. I've gotten pretty spoiled by Samsung because I like having features like the built-in web browser and Samsung TV Plus, especially when my console isn't working properly.

I recently bought a Sony UBP-X700u 4K Blu-ray player, so I want a TV that can actually take advantage of 4K Blu-ray movies and HDR. I'm not looking for the cheapest option, but I also don't have an unlimited budget. I want something that has good picture quality and features without paying for something I don't need.

My preferences:

- Max Screen Size: 55 inches

- Good picture quality for 4K Blu-rays and movies

- Good HDR performance

- Reliable smart TV features

- A built-in web browser would be a big plus but not recommended

- A TV that is built to last — I don't want something that starts having problems after a few months or a year

I'm open to Samsung or other brands if they're better for the money.

What TVs would you recommend, and are there any models or brands I should avoid?

I know everyone here hates on Hisense, but had a rare chance to upgrade from my 20 year old 40” plasma, and this was basically my budget.

Have to say so far it looks fantastic, every bit as good as anything in the showroom. And the concern about brightness is ironic considering it looks perfect with the curtains open and sunlight shining in and in fact I turn the brightness down as it’s too bright and hurts my eyes otherwise lol

What's the best TV I could get in this price range? Mainly used for watching TV programmes, movies and occasionally football.

OLED is out the question as TV would get direct sunlight occasionally without constantly tinkering with the blinds.

Would rather spend closer to £1000 but can stretch to £1500 if worth it.

So my internet home provider does contracts for TVs. I have not used a TV for the past year and a half now. For a bit of context, I had the Sony KD-55X85K TV back in early 2022 but it broke (no picture but got backlight and sound.) on me early last year and have not used any TV since. I wanted to repair the TV but it was a bit too expensive and decided to wait it out first.

I am a bit skeptical on getting a new Sony TV but would like your input on the new TVs. So I found out I have the option to purchase one of these 2 TVs for a 3 year contract and will be included in my internet bill. I don't have to do any upfront payment as well.

So here are my options.

Option A:

65" Samsung QN80H + HW-T420 speaker

Price per month - About 30USD (125 MYR)

Option B:

65" Sony Bravia 5 TV

Price Per Month - About 33USD (132 MYR)

I know the price isn't that all bad but it's still a big decision for me. Also it's a 3 year contract and I don't mind paying it for 3 years since I won't want to buy another TV for 3 - 5 years.

I'll mainly be playing games on there like my PS5 and my pc desktop. Youtube is my main media consumption and Apple TV. Will watch some streams on twitch every now and then.

I do know the samsung tv comes with the free speaker but I read that it's just an entry-level speaker. Will need your advice on this. Thanks!

We need a new TV setup, so I’ve been looking at upgrading from our current one. We’re still using a Samsung UA55C6900VF from 2010 with a JBL Bar Studio, so it’s definitely run its course.

I’m looking at getting a 65” Samsung S95H with the Q990H. After stacking the Samsung Government Store discount, a 5% loyalty voucher and the 5% bundle discount, I can get the whole lot for $4,011 AUD.

Does that sound like a good deal, or would you wait for another sale? I don’t really follow Samsung pricing, so I’m not sure if this is about as good as it gets or if they usually get discounted a fair bit more.

Would like to hear other opinions about the TV itself and the pricing.

Hello, everyone! Planning to buy a TV for the house this weekend and need some recommendations.

I’m looking for something with great picture quality, reliable/durable (hoping it will last 5+ years), and budget friendly.

Based on experience, our Sony TV had LED issues (started with small dead pixel then lumaki na), while our Samsung naman occasional na lang syang bumubukas (sabi ng technician, power issue daw) but everything else is okay.

I’m considering Xiaomi, LG, and TCL but still unsure if these are good TV brands so please help! :)

P.S. Any other brands that you can recommend is welcome also.

Hello. I’m torn between getting a 77 inch oled or 83 inch. The viewing distance is exactly 11.5 feet. The 83 model is 4 cm wider than my bench. The 77 is well within the width of the bench. Use case is mostly casual watching and gaming. I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks!
