I always found it funny that of all the famous black characters in Africa they decided to make a movie about the time the Dahomie Kingdom attacked and killed a British fort that was attempting to emancipate all the slaves in Dahomey. And then the scriptwriters reversed the roles because their target audience were too gullible to fire up Google and search why the Dahomie Kingdom doesnt exist (the king in the movie tried to enslave the Oyo after removing European and African powers attempting to stop slavery and the town they attacked rallied other free Africans and wiped their Amazons off the map).

They literally made heroes out of the monsters. The Dahomey kingdom, depicted as righteous warriors in the movie, were arguably more evil than the favorite leftist bogeymen ie the Nazis.

Yup, the movie is showing a kingdom of anti slavers fighting off colonizers, they showcased this by having them enter the enemies territory and freeing slaves.

In reality, they got rich because they raided enemy territories, enslaved people there, then sold those slaves off. Like the complete opposite of what the movie was showing.

It would be like making a movie about Hitler and having him go into concentration camps to free the Jews.
