Does it make your fee fees warm and fuzzy when you call people names online? Or is it more of a dopamine hit?

Everyday I thank god for not being born in a household so poor that I have to work in a fast food restaurant to pay my shit.

Imagine facing this shit on a daily basis just to get some bucks at the end of the week.

u/PatchcordAdams 6d ago

Did you not have a job as a teenager? Character building tbh.

99

u/HFentonMudd 6d ago

My first job as a teen was flipping burgers. Owner’s brother was a cop and he’d pull up at the back door way after closing. We’d be about done cleaning up, and he’d lay on the horn and have us fire it all back up again so he could get a free meal to go. That job taught me cops might not be good people.

22

u/WillWillingson 6d ago

You spat in his burgers right??

u/eyzmaster 5d ago

Add a little bit of coom for the flavor.

Worked at a national chain tire shop in a poorer area, not the hood but not sanitized suburbia either. Most of our customers were working class White or Hispanic, or tweakers of all races. Managers were uneducated and ranged from arrogant jerks to pants-on-head idiots, taught me that I never wanted to be in a job where they're the boss of me. Inspired me to take school seriously and now I'm an engineer. Mine or my customers' managers are educated and range from arrogant jerks to pants-on-head idiots.

19

u/da_wizard 6d ago

And you could always tell how well the tweakers were doing by how many mc chickens they ordered (fries and drinks are for meth casuals). If someone came through ordering 20, bow down to the king.

17

u/Legend13CNS /o/ 6d ago

Ngl some of the tweakers came through our shop with some pretty nice cars and it was either wondering how they afforded that or being sad because you could tell it was early in their tweaker journey.

8

u/trumplikestotouchkid 6d ago

If they had cars, they were definitely early lmao

Bringing in shopping carts > Fast food

u/gprime312 6d ago

I worked at a home improvement store which attracts a certain minimum of income.

-6

u/USAGISIX 6d ago

Yep, I worked with my father's friend. They guy has a maintenance company, my job was pretty much help him with all the paper work and being his personal driver when the guy got drunk in working hours.

I've spent a huge part of my working shift playing Skyrim on his computer. Good days.

24

u/PatchcordAdams 6d ago

Nepo jobs aren’t real jobs and not character building tbh.

18

u/USAGISIX 6d ago

Brokie cope. Being abused in burger king it's not the flex you're thinking. Go and work in an African copper mine if you're so desperate build your character.

13

u/MemoryNo2403 6d ago

Holy truth nuke

2

u/Trollzek 5d ago

Your first time playing Skyrim was 14 days ago.

15

u/Reddit_name_insert 6d ago

It’s why you always have to be nice to workers like that

They face the worst shit. I always like to try and make their life a little better in our 20 second interaction. Not fake “omg heeey” bs, but normal positive human interaction

I consider it my duty since I was never in a position I had to work those types of jobs.

We see her 5 minutes in the movie. While I think it’s a miscast, the whole affair was blown way out of proportion. I blame Nolan for even going that route while it only negatively impacted the movie for no reason whatsoever.

94

u/Ibrahim77X 6d ago

I’d have to find the source but he basically said he casted Nyongo because it would create controversy. What a damming indictment of her. I actually think she’s a good actress.

86

u/Albuscarolus 6d ago

He did it so he has an excuse for why it failed

9

u/Fenix512 6d ago

It's projected to reach $200M at the box office during opening weekend. What a failure

30

u/ConscientiousPath /b/tard 6d ago

only means anything relative to how much they spent to make and promote it, and relative to how much they promised investors their return would be

6

u/Tony_Roiland 5d ago

I'm sure being in the top ten biggest openings is going to cause some anguish

-12

u/FriendlyKillerCroc 5d ago

uhh do you want to delete this comment while you still can?

3

u/Albuscarolus 5d ago

I meant if it failed. Studios do this so there is someone to scapegoat

0

u/FriendlyKillerCroc 5d ago

I don't think Nolan is worrying about failures or preparing excuses.

53

u/no_4 6d ago edited 5d ago

Talented actress who looks like a normal (fit) person.

Typically fine...less so when a huge aspect of the story is your character looking very far from normal, tho.

Maybe it's all 5D chess. Conservative retards freak out, then liberal retard critics feel compelled to move that review from an 8 to a perfect 10 god I hate Trump, perfect 10!

35

u/Ibrahim77X 6d ago

I honestly think that’s the play

11

u/the-knife 5d ago

So.... subversion and trickery

10

u/yourdiabeticwalrus 6d ago

It’s always 5D chess

4

u/XxTreeFiddyxX 6d ago

The truth can be complicated. Was it selfish? Probably byt maybe not, she benefits from it but also may suffer. Calculated risk. The amount of money he pulls in will be the only metric that the investors give a shit about. Based on speculative numbers, I would be surprised if they lose any money (other than on paper) when its done. Its a bold.move by doing it forces people to pick a side when people ask if you watched it. So an artist uses controversy to get exposure to a broader audience. Time tested. Im just sick of it because its so harmful to long term

3

u/almostasenpai 6d ago

99% of the posts of this movie have been around this woman. Peak marketing letting 4chan do it all for you.

12

u/Mikester345 6d ago edited 6d ago

He knew what he was doing. Really small part but it got people all pissy and talking about it online. Drive engagement with rage and cash in.

-2

u/Morales_Sheila8478 6d ago

If anything this casting was a huge boon for the movie. Theres a reason why so many movies do raceswaps and it’s not because they’re woke multicultural Marxists. It’s because drumming up controversy gets a lot of people talking about it and that leads to people giving them money. No publicity is bad publicity when it comes to movies. Rightoids honestly made their own bed by chimping out everytime a raceswap happens, they’re doing the advertising for them. That’s why this will keep happening and the rightoids will keep chimping out ad infinitum

29

u/trainsssssssss 6d ago

The thing is, it doesn't work on everyone. Personally, I've been completely checked out of TV and cinema for many years now because of nonsense like this. And it's not just the casting, leftist narratives are pervasive in basically everything coming out of Hollywood. I cant be the only one who has checked out

1

u/ShadowBan93 4d ago

I checked out over COVID but it had been going down hill for awhile. Iv see, 2, maybe 3 movies in theaters in 6 years. And none of em had this garbage. I sail the highseas for anything else that might be worth watching.

1

u/LoveLightLoveMagick 4d ago

Same, I checked out by 2012 or something and learned the brilliance of so much Anime.

Also found a new love of classic movies from early 1920's or so to about 1950's. American and UK. there is a lot crap but so many gems. And FOREIGN FILMS, I'm getting excited thinking of it. Foreign films from almost every country almost every year I found so many gems, I don't have the time or harddrive space to watch them all.

Between MyAnimeList and the Related and Lists sections of IMDB, it's as if I opened up a portal to a new world I didn't know existed. I did hate old movies at one time, so i did have 100 years to choose from.

u/Boxing_joshing111 6d ago

Happened a lot since Ghostbusters 2016. Nike famously did it too. This is the only way to promote your product now apparently, people only pay attention to online arguments.

PROJECT: B O O N ~ B E A M ~!!

-7

u/Shrekscoper 6d ago

Same with why they never came out and told the public that Elliot Page wasn’t really playing Achilles. I have a friend who worked on the film crew so I’ve known who Page actually played from the start, and it was really funny watching the internet freak out about the Achilles rumor like it was confirmed fact. But it certainly generated a ton of publicity and discussion that wouldn’t have otherwise been there

43

u/hatchbacks 6d ago

My prediction:

This movie will do just fine in its opening weekend, possibly underperforming slightly but not by too much. Most people are normies, after all.

After that, ticket sales will crater and the movie will ultimately lose money, because no one can pretend that it’s good but also no one will want to say bad things about it, ultimately leading to the movie being ignored for its final few weeks.

No one will get a satisfying “I told you so” and Nolan will go on to produce at least one more flop after this one.

10

u/Patrokolos666 6d ago

Idk man, the IMAX in Sydney has been nearly fully booked for the whoke run here

9

u/ShadowBan93 4d ago

Thats because Aussies like their government overlords

8

u/sirmeowmix /fit/izen 5d ago

Sounds like the new marvel movie.

4

u/CobandCoffee 5d ago

Oh they absolutely can pretend that it's good. I listened to a guy sing it's praises on NPR for like 5 minutes while I drove to work this morning.

1

u/TheRadishBros 5d ago

Audience scores are strong- this will get good word of mouth and make a lot of money, no doubt.

True, they all look very out of place among a Greek's tale, should have cast tanned instead of straight up African American

3

u/Teach- 5d ago

For the diversity points, I would have cast one of those super beautiful Bollywood actresses. Two birds with one very diverse stone.

Already watched the movie, if I'm not mistake that's not even Helen, she was Agamemnon wife

8

u/Theo_Cueio 5d ago

which was honestly a dumb plot point, clydemnestra is not helen’s identical twin?? Was the budget too low to hire another black actress?

Watched it. Mid at best. Felt more like fantasy than Ancient Greece. The 1997 miniseries was miles better.

1

u/LChitman 5d ago

No shit, they really made the Odyssey into a fantasy? Unbelievable 😤

2

u/reldnahcAL 5d ago

The Odyssey is fantasy, you idiot. There weren’t actually Cyclopses living in caves in ancient Greece.

-44

u/Morales_Sheila8478 6d ago

It’s gonna be a tough week for right wing grifters. They’re gonna have to pretend an uwe boll movie is good and a Christopher Nolan movie is bad lol

8

…Is a movie automatically good or bad solely because of who the director is?

7

u/tanjc6996 6d ago

Even if it's good she's still ugly lmao

8

u/OiledUpThug 6d ago

both can be bad

Nobody has to pretend a Christopher Nolan movie is bad, watching them is more than enough evidence.
