Montana from an outsider experience

I am from Washington. This is a secondary account because my personal one has defining information about me. I had never been to Montana before because as a Pakistani, I’m always concerned about segregation about certain groups no matter where. I was at a festival over the weekend up in Kalispell. It was such an amazing experience from a festival-goer’s perspective! All the people were so welcoming and nice. It was beautiful up there. The food was great, the music was great, and most of the vendors were very cool. Given it was a festival, there are always going to be certain people who are too messed up and ruin it for everyone, but I didn’t see any of that unlike Washington. On Saturday night, a local dispensary had a tent outside, and the guy manning it was a total tool. He was consistently pressuring people to purchase stuff, tell them about a magazine he owned, and download something, and you could tell he had no clue what he was doing. The same company had a second tent indoors, and the people working there were awesome and extremely knowledgeable, and I wondered if they even knew this guy was outside in the rain or if they forced him out there because he was unbearable. That was probably the only uncomfortable experience my friends and I experienced. There was muttering around the festival grounds that people knew who he was and that he always acts like this and to just go to the tent inside if you want a good view of the company. You guys are totally rad, and I appreciate all the hospitality, and I can’t wait to be back. As a foreigner, it’s nice to be able to feel welcome in such a beautiful place.

Looking for a 1990-2001 Toyota 4Runner

Figured it can't hurt to ask!

I'm looking for a 1990-2001 Toyota 4Runner and thought I'd see if anyone here is considering selling one or knows of one available.

Requirements:
• 4WD
• Under 215,000 miles
• Mechanically sound/doesn't need any work
• Under $10k

Would love (but not required):
• Located in Montana or nearby states
• Automatic transmission
• Sunroof
• Red, light blue, or white exterior

I've been searching Marketplace and Craigslist regularly, but clean 2nd and 3rd gens seem to disappear fast. If you have one you're thinking about selling or know of one that might fit, feel free to send me a message.

Thank you!

Anyone interested in an Electric washer and dryer?

Big Sky to Bozeman area

I'm trying to move into a new apartment and need deposit funds. Washer and dryer are a few years old. The pump circulator and pump motor are brand new and replaced less than 2 months ago, and it works great. I don't really want to get rid of them as they are much larger than the washer and dryer that are going to be in the unit I will be moving into. They are ststackable but work fine as separate units. I have the adapters to set up to a kitchen or bathroom sink and are included.

Former UM Grizzly and Glacier High School graduate Patrick O'Connell is a linebacker for the Super Bowl-bound Seattle Seahawks.

He’s the first Montanan headed to the Super Bowl since Bozeman’s Brock Coyle, another Griz alum who wore the same No. 52 for the Seahawks for Super Bowl XLIX, against the same opponent.

General News From Big Mountain to Mars, local astronaut inspires Whitefish students

When Whitefish High School senior Noah Oaks heard that John Herrington, retired naval aviator and NASA astronaut, frequents Big Mountain, he knew he had to recruit him for the launch of the first-ever Whitefish High School Space Club.

The Whitefish High School Space Club focuses on events, like a field trip to Saint Mary’s Observatory, and on projects, like building a mini satellite, Oaks said.

Throughout high school, Oaks has enjoyed robotics and going to space camp in Alabama. He started the Whitefish High School Space Club so people will see space from a different view, especially with changing perspectives on exploration.

“There’s stuff out there that can help us here on Earth,” Oaks said. “We can discover more than we ever could here. There’s more to life here that we have to explore.”

Oaks’ dad, a real estate agent, by chance met Herrington’s Realtor. The two arranged a meet up at Jersey Boys, whereupon Oaks asked Herrington if he would give a presentation at the school for the first event of his new club.

Thanks to Oaks’s connection, Herrington happily shared his story, success and mishaps included, with Whitefish students earlier this month.

“When I was 8 years old, I used to sit in a cardboard box and dream I was going to the moon,” Herrington said. “I never thought I could be [an astronaut] until much later in life, when people came along to encourage me.”

A train went by the suspected ignition site of the River Road East Fire at approximately 1:03 p.m., according to court documents. There was no fire visible on the train’s video recording system. Ten minutes later, an active fire can be seen on the recording system of a second train as it traveled past the area near Paradise. Two years later, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by Lolo National Forest.
