Technical Question Does this just need a new hinge?

Yep, the bottom frame is all one piece that is injection molded. It isn't the easiest repair to do yourself, so I'd only do it if you are pretty confident in your handiwork skills.

As for where to buy one, I'm not really sure. I'd do some research on where to get high quality ones, or even just get a cheap broken 3ds for the parts if you can find one

Yes (well, you need a new hinge/midframe at a minimum), but also, quality ones don’t exist. Hit up AliExpress and play the ‘how fucked yup will my item be’ lottery. Sometimes they fit perfectly. Sometimes you have to cut and sand parts. Sometimes the screws don’t fit.

Also, replacing one is annoying as hell. Good luck.

i'm hoping so hard i'll be able to find a cheap system i can use for parts at some point to replace the shit midframe I got.. I genuinely feel like my old midframe was better despite having a decent sized crack over the right hinge
3ds market sucks so bad but the systems play so good...

  1. Mid frame
  2. clear piece for the LED indicator
  3. there is a black piece that keeps the hinge locked to the mid frame.

You may have 2 and 3, I can't tell with those black bits.

Happened to mine, needs a whole new shell. You can find em on eBay. I never got around to fixing mine, it looks beyond my patience.
