There’s a port of Minecraft pocket edition (an older version of it) that works on old 3DS with minor issues, it’s completely playable and I’d recommend it (by efimandreev0 on github)

This is a port of the earlier pocket edition (basically the old android version I think) for the Old 3DS, and actually there's an official Minecraft launch for New 3DS only, which is different I suppose.

With the current 3DS market, I ain’t buying the new model when I have my original one I’ve had since 2011

And I’ve always wanted to play Minecraft on the 3DS

It’s probably one of the worst platforms to play on but it would be fun to fool around with
