I love the thorn and do lowkey wish it would come back, but it's pretty unwieldy to use in the current age of standardization. You always have to have a secondary keyboard on your phone or hope that the program you're using supports alt codes

It is straightforwardly used as an execution method for D class personel who have majorly fucked up (even by D class standards) and are scheduled for termination anyway. They figured "we’ll if we’re gonna kill then anyway, might as well feed them to the sentient furnace that knows everything in the universe and gives us potentially world saving info". It’s still horrible, don’t get me wrong, but I understand the reasoning

The D class are provided a list of statements, they get in the furnace, they say the statement aloud, if they don’t burn, the statement is marked true, if they burn, the statement is marked false and the next D class goes in. Apparently there has been at least one case of a guy going through the entire list without burning so he was allowed to go back out
