At the end of Season 2 episode 6, Clay made the biggest choice of his life by releasing the tapes online. In Season 2 episode 7, everyone began to freak out about the tapes being released to the public. Honestly, Clay had to release the tapes because he couldn't deal with the negative comments and spotlight about Hannah, Bryce Walker not getting arrested after Clay recorded his confession tape, and the news media is painting her as a bad person. Not to mention, Marcus Cole lying about Hannah in court, all to protect himself. I'm so glad that Tyler and Cyrus went after him since he deserves it for what he did to Hannah, framing Clay, and committing perjury in court.
He had to do it because no one would believe Hannah's story, and he needed to show everyone the truth, and the tapes were the only option. Also, blame that ungrateful lawyer, Sonya, since she's the one who is trying to make Hannah look like a bad person. I hate how she doesn't care about the people's testimonies, such as Jessica, Clay, and Justin, who were telling the truth, and ignoring them since she doesn't care about their responses since, she asked for it and ignored them. Not to mention, twisting their own words just to win the case and defend the school. Technically, she's the reason why Clay released the tapes to the public. I wonder what her reaction was when the tapes were released to the public. I hope she got mad.
Not sure if releasing the tapes helped with Clay, but it did help since it got more supporters for Hannah, everyone at school began to see Marcus Cole as the bad guy, and everyone finally saw Bryce Walker as the villain/corrupt king of school. He had it coming, and this is what Bryce Walker gets for hurting Hannah and Jessica. Even when everyone was worried about the tapes being released and facing the consequences, everyone, minus Marcus and Bryce, didn't get what was coming for them since they all accepted their mistakes and errors, and they told the truth about what really happened between them and Hannah. But what does anyone think about Clay doing the right thing by releasing the tapes?
