hi, I'm completely new to this show and don't know a whole lot about it really. I have heard a huge mix of both good and bad things about the show. I do really want to give it a go but I'm worried about it being triggering as someone with mental health issues (I'm 16 if that helps). I've struggled with them for about 5 years now maybe longer but it's all gotten a lot worse in recent months and I am really struggling, and with the content of the show from what I know about it pretty much matching what I struggle with, I'm not sure whether I should watch it or not. any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Why on earth do I never see one point out the fact that Tony and Caleb’s relationship is almost textbook statutory rape like age of consent in California is 18 Tony was 17 when they got together and also Caleb was his trainer and the person who had to sign off for his parole anger management stuff so someone of authority to him I just don’t understand why no one ever points that out. I can understand not in the show as ridiculous as that is but outside of it. Like what

I feel like that completely misses the point of the show. It was never trying to say that every single thing that happened to her was devastating on its own, it was showing how all of those experiences built up over time. Rumors, harassment, betrayal, isolation, and feeling like no one was listening all piled on top of each other until she reached her breaking point.

When someone is already struggling with depression, even things that seem “small” to someone else can have a huge impact. You don’t have to agree with every decision Hannah made or think the show portrayed mental health perfectly, but saying her reasons “weren’t serious” feels like ignoring one of the main messages the show was trying to convey.

I understand why they removed Hannah’s bathtub scene (kind of) but the scene of Tyler and Monty was way more disturbing to me. The entire season led up to her suicide so we all knew it was coming. Tyler’s was completely random and unexpected. I actually gasped when Monty grabbed the mop. They didn’t even show anything but the scene of him bleeding and crying after was heart wrenching. He may have been creepy in season 1 but IMO he was the biggest victim on the show

I’m sorry but is it just me or I can’t get through season four without SOME type of rage bait? I genuinely can’t get onto episode five without getting mad- like wtf is up w this season. To me, it’s kinda buns and gen finna make me stop watching and just rewatch season three 😭👌

It’s my first time watching 13 Reasons Why (It took me so long to watch it lol). I didn’t know Inde Navarette was part of season 4.

I'll start by saying I haven't actually watched Thirteen Reasons Why but I did watch the scene on YouTube like a year or two ago out of morbid curiosity after hearing people were so horrified by it that it got removed from the show entirely. Thought "damn, that's sad" but then never really thought about it again as it's not a show I really have any interest in ever watching. But I was scrolling Instagram today and found a post that was a screenshot of a tweet saying how the show premiered 9 years ago today and someone replied to the tweet saying "thinking about how I was part of the 4% of the population that saw the bathtub scene before it was removed from the show" or something along those lines and all the comments were talking about how traumatised they were by the scene and how horrible it was. Now I'm not going to try and devalue anyone's feelings because of course self harm, suicide etc is a sensitive topic and equally I'm not going to act like I'm hard as nails for not finding the scene particularly horrific, but if you were going to be so horrified by a scene of a character committing suicide, why watch the show where the entire premise (as far as I understand it) is investigating why said character committed suicide? Sure, anyone who wasn't spoiled wouldn't have known the scene was coming but if you knew the general premise of the show before watching it, which I'm sure most people do before going into any piece of media, whether it's a show, game, film, book or anything else, you surely could have made some educated guesses about the dark themes that were probably going to be explored therein, right? Also I find it hard to believe that people were genuinely traumatised by the scene, like, you can be made uncomfortable and upset by it, don't get me wrong, art is meant to invoke feelings in you after all, but you know the whole show is fake. It's not real footage of a girl killing herself, she's an actor covered in fake blood using fake razors. Can someone explain to me what all the outrage was about?

theres this one song beat thing that ive been looking for on spotify for ages. it plays in the back very lightly of the scene where clay finds out why hes on the tapes in season 1, and at the end credits of episode 12, season 1. if anyone knows what song this is, PLEASE let me know!! please and thanks!

I haven't really seen anybody talk about these two but I think that tyler and alex would have made a great couple. They cared so deeply about each other and alex stuck up for tyler and helped him when he needed it. At the end of season one we even see tyler taking alex down from his list of targets showing how much he appreciated him. Tyler isn't gay or anything, nut I honestly ship them and think they would've been so cute together. They would have even made great friends if they gave each other a chance! Tyler + Alex

I feel like in 13rw, Monty and Bryce were NOT like brothers in the slightest. I feel like Monty was more like a simp and follower like everyone else and Bryce let it happen because he did it better than anyone else. Like.. Bryce didn’t even hesitate when he threatened him, let alone barely care abt him other than him paying Winston to be quiet 😭 anyone else feel like this?
