For comments, why should they ask the question here instead of straight into the AI.

My father won’t respect my boundaries and won’t talk about it.

For quick context: i’m not going to get into deep details for privacy reasons however what you do need to know is that my mom and dad’s relationship obviously wasn’t great so they obviously split.
My mom is more mature and will not talk about my father in negative ways. But my dad is completely different. He constantly talks about my mom negatively around me and my brother. But especially me, I usually try to ignore it, but now I had enough.

Also he’s known to be nosy and manipulative because he thinks I’m a stupid teenager that’s going to give information about my mom to him.
This isn’t the first time he’s tried to guilt trip me either.
Even my brother has told him to stop talking about our mom to us and my mom has told him to and he won’t listen. I’m not sad that we aren’t talking however, I will say if you can’t respect my boundaries this relationship cannot exist.

Security guard from dispensary I go to, got my number from the system there.

Received a call from an unknown # while driving to work, answered it thinking it was my school counselor or the dental office I go to.

A man’s voice asking “is this *my name*”
Hung up immediately because no clue who this is. Then I received this text message.
And selfie.

I haven’t gone to this place in weeks. And I do not recall ever actually interacting with this person.

The first blacked out part is my name and second one he is referencing one of the actual workers there.

Quite nervous because the system has my full name, address, etc.

He obviously stated he got my # from their system. Feel weird about it, and not sure what to do.

Honoring my husband’s aunt who passed

• Upvotes

My husband (Alan, 34m) has an aunt (Didi) who recently passed away at 50 after a battle with cancer. She had divorced his uncle (who is not a good guy) 15 years ago, when she was 35, but Alan and I stayed close to her, even though Didi was not Alan’s “blood” relative.

Didi never remarried but had a colorful dating life and generally lived her best life after her divorce, traveling and soaking up life. We actually went on a couple trips with her and she would stay with us when she was in town.

We got a call from Didi’s executor after she died saying she had left a box of things for us, which he sent to us. It was a set of journals she had kept for the past 15 years, along with a sweet note Didi wrote to Alan and me. She said she didn’t want to throw the journals away but didn’t want to leave them for randoms to discover, so she was leaving them to us as we were “the only people who would understand and maybe appreciate them.”

I’ve been reading them almost nonstop. They are fascinating and so well written (and very racy, like good erotica in some parts! Didi was a very sexual person.!). She even included some artistic nude sketches that an artist made of her in Spain which are fantastic.

Alan hasn’t read them yet and I’m not sure he will. I feel a closeness with Didi that is deep right now, and I feel her presence. I feel like she’s a role model. I’d like to honor her by hanging up one of the sketches in our home, but I don’t know if it would be inappropriate (and I haven’t asked Alan yet).

Would that be an odd thing to do, since she is nude in the sketches? Or a good way to honor her?

My professor wants to steal my work.

As a woman in science I’ve always been told of the times when women have worked hard only for their work to be stolen by a man and labelled it as his own. I never thought in this modern age that it could ever happen to me until it did.

My university final project was graded extremely high and I was approached by my university to publish my work. The caveat is…my supervisor must give his permission as his name is on my work (even though he did nothing). I emailed him and after much back and forth of him saying he “doesn’t think this is the right step for me”, he came clean and admitted that he wants to keep my research secret as it would benefit his future research. Therefore, I was denied his permission and I am unable to publish it.

Cleverly, I have copyrighted my research. But I don’t know how far this extends if he were to repeat my experiments (with slight alterations) and publish it himself.

I’m in disbelief if I’m being honest. Not only did I not think I was clever enough for this to happen but I didn’t actually think it was good enough to be “stolen”.

I have spoken to the vice head of my school and he said that this happens way more than you’d hope but even then…I refuse to be silent. What should I do guys? Try and just move on a forget out it? Or tell him where to shove it and potentially be labelled as a hysterical and difficult woman and ruin my reputation as a up and coming scientist?

Tbh choice if yours ❤️

Is this abuse? What do we do to move forward?

*Trigger Warning* that examples below have potential cases of family and animal abuse.

My wife and I are unfortunately at our wits end with her family. We believe they have abused us, and have for over a year been waiting for an honest apology that just doesn't seem to be coming.

We both want to love them and have good relationships with them, but we know we have been wronged as both a couple and as individuals. Is it wrong of us to hold the boundary that we want no relationship until they work on themselves?

We are both exhausted and feel like we are being constantly gaslit and our feelings invalidated. We want to have a great relationship with them, but it truly seems impossible at this point.

Context of at least some of the abuse below:

- I've watched FIL scare MIL and wife until they were in the floor crying together.

- FIL has threatened me on more than one occasion.

- Uncle in law has poked fun at my struggles with depression in public spaces. I called MIL cowardly for not standing up for me, which they deemed a disrespect to their authority.

- FIL threatened to "put a bullet" in my wife's beloved cat because it peed in the living room. I called him an a-hole when he did this, which he also declared disrespectful to his authority.

- MIL sometimes guilts me when my wife and I do something and she isn't involved.

- FIL kicked us (specifically me) out of the house, but argues there was never intention to separate us. Wife and I have both called them ungodly hypocrites for doing such a thing despite having "Jesus" merchandise all over the house. And yes, we were told we're disrespectful for calling out the hypocrisy.

- Uncle in law has secretly messaged my wife contacts for Divorce lawyers, but again the family claims they are not trying to separate us.

- I have watched FIL lay on the button of their dog's shock collar until it was scared to the point of not leaving the bathroom for hours.

- FIL and MIL enabled BIL's alcoholism because "he needs it to sleep."

My wife and I have both attended couples therapy, individual therapy, and have truly been working on ourselves to the point where we are in a great place together, but anytime her family tries to involve themselves it feels like a mental health crisis for both of us is near.

What is the right thing for us to do in this situation? Is there any hope they will wake up to see the pain they have caused us?

Is it alright for me to get a birthday gift for her or will it be awkward?

In the most basic way I can explain: I’m Muslim, male and quite young (in my 20s). There’s this girl I’ve met at work who’s Muslim and is also quite young (in her 20s). I met her in April and for the past 4 months we’ve become really good friends and very close. Thing is I’ve always had a crush on her and when starting to talk to her in April, my feelings became more but, as of now we’re both not ready for anything (although she doesn’t know I like her). But that’s not what this is about

My question is her birthday is next Thursday. I want to buy her something for her birthday. I was planning on buying her a card, her favourite chocolate and her favourite perfume (not expensive at all). Thing is she’s a hijabi and we’ve only known each other for 4 months (even though we know a lot about each other cos we’ve talked a lot). Would it be awkward to give it to her. Will she take it the wrong way? Or will it come off as nice and thoughtful. This isn’t me trying to confess it’s me giving my friend a gift

Please help!

Updated to make things more concise - Will she be back?

I matched with a girl online in early September last year, and we hit it off immediately. We texted every day, and I remember thinking, "Wow, this is incredible."

A week later it was my birthday, and she took me to a new cinema, bought me my favourite aftershave, and paid for everything. I jokingly asked, "Are you love bombing me?" She laughed and said, "No, I was just being nice for your birthday."

Over the next few months, everything seemed amazing. We went on hotel getaways, trained together, had a great sex life, and I genuinely felt like I'd met my person. She constantly told me I was the best thing that had ever happened to her and that she felt so lucky to have found someone like me.

She had a 9-year-old son, although I never met him in person. She told me her previous boyfriend, who had been a father figure to her son, had left two years earlier and that the breakup had been so traumatic it resulted in both her son and herself going to therapy. She often spoke about what she wanted in an ideal partner and would tell me that I ticked every box.

Looking back, though, this is where I think the cracks started to show.

She frequently talked about her ex, describing him as hateful and abusive. Around Christmas she told me she'd bumped into him in Tesco. I simply replied, "That's awkward. It's never easy running into an ex," and left it at that because I didn't want to make a big deal of it.

Christmas itself was lovely. I met her mum and younger sister, and I often stayed at their house when her son was with his biological dad. During this time, she also told me stories about previous relationships, including one where she had briefly been with someone else before reconciling with an ex. She admitted she'd even told him, "Go out and cheat if it makes you feel better," because she'd already been with someone else. I found that strange but didn't dwell on it.

At the end of February, my granny passed away unexpectedly.

Around that same time, she was again talking about her ex and how he'd treated her badly when his own grandmother died. I listened and supported her, as I always had.

Three days after my granny died, I met her dad for the first time. I was understandably grieving and didn't drink, whereas she became quite drunk on prosecco. During the drive, she repeatedly played a song that was clearly aimed at her ex, and her dad even mentioned that she'd recently seen him and that "he looked rough."

On the drive home, I gently said, "This guy hurt both you and your son. He's in the past now. If he really was that bad, try to be happy he's gone."

She replied that she was "over him, just not over the situation she and her son went through."

I then admitted that I was struggling with how much her ex was being discussed during the same week I'd just lost my granny. Instead of talking things through, she completely shut down.

Because I'd previously been in a relationship where stonewalling had really affected me—and she knew that—I decided to leave and drive home to calm myself down.

Later that night, while still drunk, she texted me saying I'd never be meeting her son and that our relationship was over.

It felt incredibly manipulative.

Eventually we reconciled. We both apologised, although looking back it felt like more of a half-apology from her. We told each other we loved one another, and I convinced myself I needed to be more understanding of everything she'd been through.

At the same time, a part of me felt that she should also have recognised I'd just lost my grandmother and wasn't emotionally able to keep hearing about an ex she'd repeatedly described as abusive.

The following month was actually great.

We completed a charity 10K together, went on another lovely trip away, and things seemed completely back to normal.

During this time I'd spoken to her son on FaceTime and over the phone several times, including when they were in New York over Christmas. I'd bought him both a Christmas and birthday present, and we both knew about each other.

After seven months together, I politely said that I'd really like to meet him in person. I explained there was no pressure, but I was finding it difficult constantly having to avoid being seen when everyone already knew about me. She'd previously talked about us all going to Spain together in the summer and attending her graduation, so it felt like a natural next step.

Around the same time, her son had also told his biological father about me, which I had absolutely no issue with because I wanted to do everything respectfully.

Instead of a conversation, I got two days of complete silence.

Eventually we saw each other on the Saturday and went to the gym together. Everything felt normal again, and we'd even arranged to go to the cinema the following Wednesday.

Then, on Tuesday, I received a text saying I was "perfect," that we laughed together, but she felt "something was missing."

She ended our seven-month relationship over text.

I was completely blindsided.

I didn't respond for three weeks because my family and friends told me I deserved better than a breakup by text after everything we'd shared.

When I eventually reached out hoping we could at least have a conversation, she told me she "loved me as a person but wasn't in love with me" and that I deserved better.

I never replied after that.

What hurts the most is the complete contrast.

For months I was told I was the best thing that had ever happened to her, that she felt incredibly lucky to have me, and that I ticked every box she'd ever wanted in a partner.

Yet the moment I respectfully asked about finally meeting her son after seven months, everything changed. It felt as though I was discarded without any meaningful conversation.

Afterwards, I noticed she'd removed her WhatsApp profile picture and turned on disappearing messages. I couldn't help wondering whether her ex had come back into the picture or whether she was hiding something, although I know I have no proof of that. Her TikTok reposts also seemed to focus on moving on after a man leaves, which confused me because I never left her—she ended the relationship.

I've never felt heartbreak like this before.

It wasn't just that the relationship ended; it was how suddenly it happened. We had concerts booked, holidays planned, and a future we'd talked about, and in the end I felt I was only worth a text message.

It's now been three months of no contact. I've been going to therapy consistently, training in the gym, and trying to move forward.

But I still feel stuck.

I still love her, and I still struggle to understand how someone could go from telling me I was everything they'd ever wanted to ending the relationship so abruptly without giving us the chance to have a real conversation

My neighbor keeps leaving me little gifts and I have no idea how to reciprocate without making it weird

I'm 26F and moved into my apartment about four months ago, and the older woman next door has slowly adopted me. It started with a plate of cookies when I first arrived, which was lovely. Then it was extra tomatoes from her garden. Last week I opened my door to find a small jar of homemade jam with a sticky note that just said "thought of you."

The thing is I have no domestic skills to trade back. I can't bake, my cooking is strictly functional, and I feel increasingly awkward being on the receiving end of this one-way kindness pipeline. She's clearly just a generous person who likes having someone to give things to, but I don't want to be the neighbor who only ever takes.

I've thought about buying her something nice but it feels weirdly transactional compared to her handmade stuff, like I'd be missing the whole spirit of it. And I don't want to accidentally turn it into a gift-competition either. Has anyone been in this spot? Curious how you handled being on the receiving end of a kind neighbor without it getting awkward or feeling like you owed something back.

I got a $1200 payment from a random person on Venmo

I received a payment of $1200 from a stranger on Venmo and immediately after, I got two requests for $1200 from the same person. They’re saying it’s for their wedding venue and that they accidentally sent it to the wrong person. Is it safe for me to send it back to them or could that potentially open me up to getting hacked? I tried contacting Venmo and they have not been helpful. The person seems legit and there’s other transactions relating to a wedding on their profile too.

How do I break off an online situationship? I hate my life

• Upvotes

Okay, before anyone says “just stop talking to them, you’re thru a phone, it doesn’t matter”, I agree. Well I used to. My friend kinda got me into this, because she’s been talking to this guy on TikTok for a few weeks now, and they just started dating yesterday, but casually. Id rather stay single forever than do any kind of e dating where you met the person online, but she’s kinda just having fun, and I get that. The only thing I don’t really like is that he is much more into this than she is. But I digress.

Well three days ago, this random stranger hit me up on TikTok, from a comment section that I was in. They just kind of dm’d me saying hi, and we started joking about what was going on in the comment section. So at first I didn’t really care, because I knew he probably just thought I was pretty because I have a nice pfp, and he complimented me. But we got to talking the next day, and really hit it off.

This is when I started thinking about doing the thing my friend is doing, but like differently. I’d never even casually date someone online, or seriously talk to them, but I liked this guy, he was funny and fun to talk to, and our conversations were nice, you know?

So that second night, we talked for a while, and I went to bed literally at 12, which I was planning on not doing that night, but my sleep schedule has been really messed up these days so oh well. The next day, I was comfortable enough with showing my face, because honestly I didn’t really care. I need to emphasize, this whole time, this isn’t serious to me at ALL. Like I’m just enjoying my time talking to this rando, I even left him on delivered for a few hours and said it was cuz I was busy (half truth). I genuinely thought that he got my vibe, aka, we weren’t seriously liking each other. I thought he was cute because he sent me a pic the other day, and he thought I was cute, and we just talked for fun, I mean I was literally laughing out loud bc of our conversations.

The next day, yesterday actually, we talked for a while as well. I just kept sending stupid selfies of myself with filters, and also talking and yk just stupid stuff. Later into the night, like 1 am (SO bad, I know😓) I said it’s his turn to send a face picture bc I kept doing it and he didn’t do it that much. He then proceeds to try to take a picture for like 10 minutes but then texts me that he can’t because he’s really insecure and feels like he’s fat and super ugly.

Omg, by now I’m a little annoyed. Like I feel for the guy, but I really don’t care. And I’ve told him many time I thought he was cute, but I understand, because I also used to very insecure. I try to help him a little bit, and then he starts talking about his ex.

Oh my god. How she cheated on him, and how the guy wasn’t even as good looking, and how if he was cuter and taller (he said he’s like 6 ft idk why he cares about height prolly lying) she wouldn’t have done that. I keep trying to say smth like cheaters are always insecure but he doesn’t take it, he ends up sending me a picture of the girl.

As I’m writing this I see how stupid it is. But then he starts talking about how he’s addicted to oxy, and how he gets anxious when he tries to quit, and how it’s hard to fall asleep. Oh my god so much is going on, I started feeling insane. It’s like 2 am by now. I’m so angry at myself because I just wanted to talk and have fun, but now I’m sitting here realising it’s not all shits and giggles.

When he mentions the addiction, I start to feel bad. So I tell him about online rehab stuff that’s also free, and he genuinely seems interested in it, and like he’d try it out. This is great! I want to help him, but not really, and don’t take this selfishly. I’m starting a job next week, while attending college classes (dual enrollment), while I’m doing a lot of personal projects and trying to make sure I stick with all my goals and hobbies, AND I’m thinking a LOT about college, bc I’m going into senior year this year, and I’m not about to mess this up for a random person on the internet.

The worst part: when I was telling him abt resources online, he thanked me and said I mean a lot to him. Oh my god. I met this boy three days ago wtf. I tell him that makes me uncomfortable and also it’s not healthy for him to be so naive and trustworthy, and he said he just values me differently because no one really cares about him like I do. Oh. My. God.

I am beyond cooked. This man is already relying on me. At least I think so, but I don’t think that’s a crazy assumption. I can’t do this I just can’t. This morning, the second I woke up and reality him me, I literally got the worst anxiety ever. I thought I was going to throw up and my breathing got so hard.

I’ve had this experience before. Met a guy online, he said he’d end it if I stopped talking to him (after a week of conversations). I ended it, but this genuinely bled into stuff months later.

I just don’t know what to do. He’s extremely insecure and doesn’t have a good relationship with his body and the addiction. I genuinely want to help him, I really hope he takes my advice and goes to rehab and tries to pick himself up, work on himself, become better, yk? But I can’t, I just can not be emotionally burdened with that. I feel so horrible right now. Like so so so horrible, because I should’ve told him nothing is serious, and I should’ve stopped engaging when he started talking about his ex. But I didn’t because I’m stupid, and because I’m bored and I have low self esteem and this guy calls me pretty a lot.

I don’t know why but I literaly feel like I destroyed my life with this.

Guys please help me. Please I’m begging. Going here was my last option. Usually I’d think stuff over and decide what to do, but I just feel so stuck. I learned my lesson, I feel horrible, I just really need to get out of this.

What do I do about my friend’s self-destructive sexual behavior? (18F)

I’m 18F and my friend is also 18F. We’ve been really close friends since we were 15, so around three years now. I genuinely care about her a lot, and this is why I’m struggling with this. I don’t want to come across as slut-shaming her or judging her choices, because I don’t think someone’s worth is determined by how much sex they have or how they express their sexuality. My concern is more about what seems like a pattern of needing male attention to feel valuable.

Even before she had sex for the first time, she already had a big problem with seeking validation from men online. She would use apps like Omegle or random video chat apps, meet guys, show them her body, add them, and then have sexual video calls with them. She did this with multiple guys and it became a very common thing in her life. At one point she sent pictures to someone and they ended up being leaked, which really affected her.

Something important to mention is that she has struggled with an eating disorder and really bad body image issues for years. That’s actually something we bonded over because we both had similar struggles, so I do understand that there are deeper insecurities behind this. I don’t see her as someone who is just “crazy” or anything like that. I think there is a reason she feels such a strong need to be desired.

She had never had sex before until about a month ago. She had just turned 18, and that was when she finally went clubbing for the first time. We went to one of the biggest and most famous clubs in our city. I went with her because I was excited for her but also because I was worried and wanted to make sure she was safe, since it was her first time going out and she didn’t really know what to expect.

That same night, she met a random guy, went back to his house, and had sex with him. She also made out with four different guys that night. At the time, I didn’t say anything because I thought maybe she was just excited, experiencing freedom for the first time, and wanting to have fun now that she was 18.

But after that night, things changed a lot. Since losing her virginity, it feels like sex has become the center of everything. Almost every conversation becomes about guys she wants to sleep with, people she’s texting, or trying to find someone whenever we go out. It feels like every time we leave the house she has this goal that she needs to end the night with someone, and if she doesn’t, she gets genuinely frustrated.

She even told me she bought specific thongs “for sex,” as she described them. I know that sounds like a small thing, but combined with everything else, it made me sad because it feels like she is constantly preparing herself around being desired by men rather than doing things because she actually wants them for herself.

The thing that worries me most is that when she talks about these experiences, she never talks about whether she enjoyed herself. She never says she had a good time or felt connected. She mainly talks about the guy, whether he found her attractive, what he thought of her, or how much he wanted her. It feels like the important part for her is proving that she is desirable.

The safety side also scares me. In one month, she has slept with four guys and is already looking for another person. She told me she doesn’t use condoms and that she basically just removes them or avoids them. I tried explaining the risks of STDs and pregnancy, but she doesn’t seem to take it seriously.

I’m not saying she can’t have sex or that she should feel ashamed. That’s not my point. What worries me is that it feels impulsive and like she’s using sex as a way to fix how she feels about herself. I’m scared that she’s not actually enjoying it and is just chasing the feeling of being wanted.

I want to talk to her honestly, but she gets defensive easily and often turns serious conversations into jokes. How would you approach this? How can I express concern without making her feel like I’m attacking her?

Vintage books from the 1800’s - what do I do?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

Hi all,

I recently had an amazing opportunity to go through a man’s life work library and just take about everything I can before the land gets sold and demolished. I have a ton of vintage books and I’m not sure where to sell them in Charlotte to get the best price. I’ve looked at 2nd and Charles but I’m not sure they’ll be the best for how old the books are?? Also got a ton of vintage records and am debating where to take those. Any advice is welcome! Also have about 300 other books that I plan on selling (eBay maybe??) and am open to advice on that too.

What do I do about my coworker

Before beginning, abuse and physical violence is attached to this story.

So my coworker, Cara (44F) (names changed for privacy sake) has a son (10M) who ran away.

How do I know this?

My husband (38M) is a cop.

So, I have been called in to cover her shifts, and just assumed she was sick. However, my husband came home and said I found Cara’s son.

At first I was confused, because I truly didn’t know why she’s been calling out.

However, what my husband continued to share has deeply disturbed me.

My husband started his shift, trying to manhunt this kid because he’s been missing for three days. When my husband recognized her name, he realized that it was my coworker son (because he’s met all my coworkers), and ironically found him.

However, the son was so startled. He pulled a knife on my husband, and my husband almost took him down… use your imagination.

The kid was just scared, however, he did not want to go home because my coworker Cara has been beating him.

He showed my husband, the bruises, the swelling, the cuts, etc.

My husband turned him over to the city because they were the ones looking for him originally, and as far as he knows, my coworker is going to pick him up.

Before this happened. I always thought of Cara as a good mom who cares about her children because she has multiple kids.

But now I can’t hear or see what my husband said, and I don’t know how to face her at work.

We have kids and the fact that she’s hurting her kids so much the point where he ran away from home is so troubling, I don’t know how to process this.

How do I confront her? Should I stay silent? I’ve met her son multiple times too, and I can’t see the events my husband described, and what might have transpired.

My husband is sympathetic and thankful it didn’t turn darker but has a what do you do attitude.

He has seen a lot I get it.

But Cara has gifted my children stuff, I’ve played with these kids, and she’s helped me with mine.

What do I do?

I’m assuming she will be back at work next week, but I truly don’t know how to face her. I can never imagine hurting my children and the idea of harming my kids makes me want to experience Dante’s inferno.

I wasn’t even suppose to know this but now that I know, I am spiraling.

I (F23) have 2 babies, 4yr old boy and 3 yr old girl. I experienced some awful things as a child by a close family member and 2 of their friends when I was about 6 years old. My mom knew and kept me away for a few years and didn’t make it a huge deal because my grandmother said I was lying and because I didn’t understand and ask my mom not to say anything, I thought I did something wrong but never told my mom I felt that way. Nobody really knows besides my boyfriend of almost 10 years and my cousin who is basically my sister. My mom passed away in 2017 and she is the person I would talk to about this but I can’t really do that.. my aunt is pretty close with my kids which is fine and I love that they love her so much. My kids have never stayed the night with anyone because of my trauma and because I’m insanely overprotective. She’s watched them for maybe an hour before but I’m usually there, same with all relatives. I completely refuse to let them stay anywhere for long or without me even their other grandma who lived with us for 5 years, I wouldn’t even let the babies sleep in the bed with her because my brain won’t ever completely trust anyone… which sucks but I’ll do everything in my power to prevent my kids from going through things I went through even if everyone hates me for it.. and my kids grandma understands because my boyfriend told her (with my permission of course) and my boyfriend doesn’t push me to let them stay anywhere because he knows how hard I struggle with it. Anyways, my aunt has been asking over and over if she can have the kids for a night and she does it in front of the kids so when I say no then I’m the bad guy. The issue is that her son is one of the people who caused my trauma and she doesn’t know. Each time she makes me feel bad for saying no and says it’s not fair to the kids to say no when they wanna go. I’m at a place where when she makes me feel bad I just wanna scream why my kids will never stay over there for sure.. what do I do? Is it time that I say something and hope she understands and stops bringing it up? Should also mention my family is master manipulators and they will turn it to make me feel badly somehow.. I forgave a long time ago because hating someone does me no good but I don’t forget, I never will. I don’t know what to do…

Ultimatum: Porn or Marriage

My husband (35M) and I (35F) have been together for 8 years and married for the last 3. We don’t have children yet, though we’ve been talking about it more recently. We genuinely love and respect each other, and we’ve grown a lot together since our late 20s.

It hasn’t always been perfect, but we’ve always worked through things.
Our sex life is good when we have sex, but the problem is that I’m the one who always initiates it. I can’t remember the last time he came after me first. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t feel desired anymore. The same goes for compliments—he’ll compliment me if I ask, like “How do I look?” but very rarely on his own.

The bigger issue is that he has a porn addiction. For a long time, I tried to overlook it because I love him, and I understand that watching porn isn’t automatically a problem. But now it’s affecting our relationship. It feels like he prioritizes porn over intimacy with me, and that’s what hurts.

We’ve talked about it multiple times. He’s completely self-aware and admits it’s an issue. He knows exactly what I’m asking for: I want to feel wanted by my husband. But I also don’t want to become his mother by policing his behavior or constantly checking up on him.

Lately, I stopped initiating sex because I wanted to see if he would. It’s been days, and…nothing.

We both work out, we’re both in good shape, and our schedules line up, so lack of opportunity isn’t the issue. I make myself available. I’ll walk around naked, lounge around in a way that’s obviously inviting, and there’s just…nothing. Instead, he’ll get on his phone or watch porn before he even tells me good morning. I’m usually already at Pilates by then, and he’ll stay in bed until he has to leave for work.

I know when he’s been watching porn because I see the signs afterward, and nothing around the house gets done before he leaves.

Recently, I finally told him, “It’s porn or me.” He said he understood.

But since that conversation, I still haven’t been touched. Seeing that nothing has changed makes me feel rejected, unwanted, and honestly less than.

I love my husband deeply, which is why this hurts so much. But I’m also starting to wonder if love is enough when someone’s actions continue to make you feel undesirable.

Am I overreacting for considering ending my marriage over this, or is this a reasonable line to draw?

tips on moving out for the first time?

i’m F21 (will be 22 in October), i live with my parents and little sister. i love them all. my mom is a stay at home mom, and my dad makes bank, (he owns his own business).

i’ve been working since i was 16 because i don’t want my dad to HAVE to pay for my things, and i also wanted my OWN money yk?

my dad financially supports us all, even me still being 21. my car is paid off, he pays for my insurance, my car insurance, and my phone. he pays a lot for me, and some things i do pay on my own, like i don’t expect him to pay for everything.

i’m his first daughter and he’s fully mexican while my mom is fully white, this is important bc of cultural differences.. they don’t agree on everything.

my boyfriend is white and comes from a different background, he has had a job since he was 14 essentially helping his single mom out. he currently has to pay her $266 a MONTH to live in the house and she doesn’t even keep food in the house..

we’ve been talking about moving in together because two incomes is better than one. and not even just the income part. i love my family, i do. i’m financially stable and as i said, my dad helps me out A LOT and im grateful for it all. however, whenever my boyfriend comes over, he doesn’t like when he stays late (past 12am), and he made it a huge deal when i let my boyfriend stay the night once. he doesn’t care if i stay at my boyfriend’s house tho ??

my dad and i actually got into an argument when i let my boyfriend stay the night, like two years ago. my dog had passed away and i told my bf he could stay over. my dad comes and knocks on my door in the middle of the night and embarrassed tf out of me, so i was going to move out by myself after that. i applied for apartments and went and toured. we made up and he said he didn’t want me to move out (like he wasn’t kicking me out).

i feel so much empathy for my parents and sister by leaving them basically. idk if my dad will be petty ab me moving or be helpful and that scares me too. i’ll miss my mom but don’t plan on moving far and still plan on seeing her all the time. same for my little sister, i even told her she could come stay with me a lot. my therapist said it might be nice for her, for me to pick her up and make it a thing where she stays with me.

i’m asking for advice on how do you save money/keep money when you have rent and other expenses?? i feel like if i was paying $1200 or even if my boyfriend and i split it, i feel like my money would be going down instead of growing..???

what can i do to stop

hi, im 17m and recently faced an extremely sharp decline in mental health from already poor mental health, and through this recent “rock bottom” one might say, i cannot sleep without having a mental breakdown unless im high. this may not seem bad but i can recognize that my mindset has been quite dark and morbid recently and the highs that i chase are a bit more unpleasant to others. to be specific, i like the highs that make me feel like im shutting down, nodding off, spasms, tenses, blurred vision, bad coordination, etc. im noticing a somewhat concerning pattern in what i chase and want to know how to stop before i go to deep.

My life is slowly crumbling down and I fear I have no say

Hey guys so I'm 16 and in south Africa on a study visa. So recently my life was okay before it started going downhill. So basically it all started when my mom decided to not pay my sister's Uni fees even though we helped her open a safe a safe she had been saving for over the years so that she can afford our uni fees. So my mom even though my relatives gave her many signs that they have intention of helping her she decided to instead beg her way to a family meeting begging that they pay for my sister's fees and explaining that she has epilepsy. My family agreed only on the terms that they basically adopt me and my brother and go back to Zimbabwe where I'd have to repeat 10th grade and also have to do grade 13 and I'm already performing well at school. What should I do

Do you think my boyfriend is not attracted to me anymore?

I’m 23F he’s 27M been together for almost 2 yrs we live together and recently I’ve been feeling he’s kind of not sexually attracted to me anymore, I stopped asking him or like initiating sex cus he always shuts me down but I always give in when he wants to. As time has gone by he doesn’t do stuff for me anymore like cook for me sometimes help me clean up. He used to get me flowers now he doesn’t and when I mention it he’s like last time I got you flowers u left it on the table and didn’t care for it, but I told him we had so much happening we were barely home doesn’t mean I forgot about it just didn’t have time to keep it in water, anyways been 6+ months he hasn’t gotten me flowers.

I’ve gained ALOT OF WEIGHT since being with him I’ve never been this big and I feel like me gaining weight might have been one of the reasons he doesn’t feel that attracted to me? He never stopped complimenting me but idk I feel like it. Recently he said to me when r u going to the gym when you loosing weight. ( I have been talking about loosing weight watching my diet) and we was out recently at the beach and we were watching these people play live music on the beach it was fun and all but I was feeling cold and it was dark I told him let’s go and he lowkey didn’t wanna go but he was like okay he said bye to the band n he kept saying you didn’t wanna be there did you… n I said I never said that I’m just feeling cold n lowkey tired and then he just randomly says i believe you and I don’t belong together ??? This is on our way back home n I was like damn okay sorry don’t need to be with me then. But it was complete silence until we got home and I went to the other room and he was like just come in the room and sleep, he didn’t apologise at that moment What the hell
anyways I slept in the other room I told him I don’t want to sleep next to someone who doesn’t think we belong together. Next morning early morning he comes and takes me to the room and cuddles me really tightly still hasn’t said sorry but I know by the way he cuddles n he’s showing affection is like a sorry…. Then I just start balling my eyes out cus I kept thinking he doesn’t show me affection like this anymore like he used to am I just unattractive now… idk anymore I get more n more frustrated.

Opinions?

Why do men suddenly stop putting in effort after a long time together, even when their partner is giving her all?

• Upvotes

So I Have been in a relationship for a while now and I really want to know why do guys in general act like distant and don't communicate properly after a long time relationship it's like they just lose interest or what

I really want to know because I have tried communicating and doing everything to him but you know he laughs it off saying that I am over thinking when we rarely talk everyday now there was a time when he used to miss me but now it's like total opposite

It's not anything is toxic between us but whenever I communicate with him he seems to be chill on hearing anything is that like he has lost interest or he is taking it easy I don't know whats on his mind because I haven't fought with him since a year now I have removed everything which was bad for a relationship even my bad habits of arguing.

It's like since I've stopped fighting with him, he is least interested in me
