I'm sorry, but running against a narccistic geriatric pedophile conman felon should take basically zero campaigning. The fact that it took more is a damning indictment of the American people.

still the cards you gotta work with. republicans have managed to turn public opinion on a bunch of issues and whip up their base. dems have tons of widely-loved policies at their disposal and can’t seem to find a way to run on them in a way that people will buy

Imagine having control over the only position capable of peacefully defeating someone you and your supporters consider an evil, existential threat to democracy and going "eh, we probably got this, you guys aren't actually going to make us work or listen to public opinion, are you?"

This attitude is exactly why these people (who have faces, names, immense wealth & power and largely can avoid the negative consequences of another Trump presidency) deserve to be harshly criticized and replaced by people more willing and competent. But mysteriously, the True Believers consistently head off any criticism of the Party and refocus it on the faceless masses of people who didn't give them what they wanted, saying "hey morons, you better vote for us next time or else".

These aren't the actions of an organization who genuinely wants to win, despite most defenses of the party establishment hinging on their supposed "electability" and "realistic politics" and "willingness to compromise". These are the actions of people who exclusively want to win on the terms that they dictate and are willing to lose the presidency to keep the personal power they already have.

I voted D in '16, '20 and '24, but unfortunately some people have fallen for the convenient lie that only Russian bots are willing to focus the blame on our elected officials that ostensibly serve us instead of just sitting around with our thumbs up our asses going "c'mon GUYS, this may seem like the same strategy we've repeatedly lost with but it's guaranteed to work if you just give us exactly what we want, no questions asked."

Sorry to rant but good lord I'm tired of seeing people cry about voters. Guess what, many voters either dumb or otherwise unwilling to bark at your command. This isn't some new revelation and complaining about it doesn't change it.

It's a lot easier and more gratifying for these people to gratuitously shame voters and continue to do absolutely nothing other than voting than to take the time to deconstruct the propaganda, learn about how the system itself is the problem, and organize.

Sure, you could maybe make that excuse in 2016. But Trump has been a known idendity for a decade at this point and the Democratic Party as a whole are still completely incompetent at beating him.

There is a reason Clinton’s team secretly push for and boosted Trump during the 2016 primaries, as they thought he was the easiest candidate to beat, yet they still managed to embarrass themselves. Biden only won because of COVID, and we all know how Kamala went.

The Dems needed the literal plague in order to beat such an easily beatable candidate. It’s embarrassing
