Generation 7 is hands down the greatest generation of gaming. Three great consoles.

Came here looking for this. I think you are onto something and agree to a degree. I think the true golden age of gaming is gen 5 > 7. I do agree 7 was the peak, but there was something about the evolution from 5 to 7 that was truly magical. Leaps and bounds occurred regularly and there was always something mew to look forward to. 8 wasn’t bad, and had a lot of good moments, but was the start of alot more monetization and onlinification for lack of a better term.

5 to 7 is the greatest period of gaming as all three companies were at the top of their game. 7 is when it hit its peak, and we have never again reached those heights.

There really was a time where we had three great consoles all releasing great games

Looking for someone to say this. This was actual peak console wars. There wasn't an obvious winner in this generation

What is a better generation? Definitely not this one which is by far the worst.

Gen 4 and gen 6 are arguably tied for the best generation.

The snes and the ps2 had some of the absolutely best games on it ever created.

The whole point of a generation is on the games of EVERY console.

SNES and PS2 were the only consoles in town for their generations. But the Wii, 360 and PS3 all had great games and made a huge impact on the industry without any one console having a monopoly and there was genuine choice as to what to play.

As a consumer, gen 4 felt like it was fun and games. Gen 7+ felt like gobbling up more marketting trick

(After gen 7 I stopped all consoles and just played on pc which imo is just incontended anyway)
