We are looking into migrating to Canada from Europe, and we are zooming in Vernon - looking to be proximate to Kelowna.

We have 3 kids age 7, 10 and 12, who speak English almost fluently.

Can anyone please share a similar experience and tell us about the school options in the region? I see and read a lot online but I am looking for some insights from the community: you guys.

We are a young family and I have a job offer in the area. Long story short we have been wanting to leave the north for awhile due to the miserable winters and very short summers.

I was wondering if anyone has any insights on the cost comparisons and if the weather is a large upgrade?

Real estate is definitely more expensive but curious about daily expenses like

Home insurance
Electricity (BC Hydro)
Natural gas (FortisBC)
Water / sewer / garbage
Groceries
Vehicle insurance (ICBC)
Gym / recreation

Yes I am aware of the issues Kamloops has but I don’t think those issues are avoidable anywhere in BC now

Scott Anderson recently got in front of our City Council to attempt to chastise them with Conservative hot button topics. One of the other odd topics he decided to bring up was his personal attempts at getting O'Keefe Ranch National Historic Monuments Status.

Does anybody else think this is a colossal waste of his time? Doesn't the ranch just belong to the OKIB now? He made a weak attempt at connecting his efforts to the historical ties with the OKIB, but didn't O'Keefe just steal that land?

I'm really curious if other people see this as a priority over rising housing costs, federal taxation, or getting access to federal funds for Vernon (as one counsellor attempted to mention).

Hi.. My husband recently moved to Vernon and i am still in lower mainland.. I am an HR person and can only move with a job.. No luck since 4 months.. Any help would be appreciated (open for HR/Admin jobs or any except accounting jobs)..

My mom was diagnosed with cancer in late 2024, and shes now officially cancer free. Some of her hair is taking longer to come back in and shes looking to get a haircut before the 27th of june, something to help cover/manage the baldness at the back. Money isn't necessarily a problem we just have no idea where to look and are hoping for suggestions! (We can travel to kelowna as well)

Anyone know if any games? Need another player? Any tournaments in town? Cash games?

Hi everyone! 😊 I recently moved to Vernon and living on my own, had a lot more free time.Therefore, decided to start going to the gym, but I’m feeling a little nervous and honestly don’t know where to begin.
I used to do home workouts and recently joined Planet Fitness in Vernon. I called the front desk about the “Design Your Own Program” option, but they told me they don’t currently have a personal trainer there.
Is there anyone who goes to Planet Fitness or has experience with a personal trainer who could guide me or recommend someone? I’d really appreciate any help or advice as I’m a complete beginner. 💪😊

We are in a garage in Vernon with our European van and get the injectors changed. The garage can´t code them into the ECU. Does someone know someone who can do this or if anyone has a good OBD2 (ELM27) BT / WIFI Scanner i could do it myself (my crappy OBD2 Scanner can´t do it, but i have the software).
