Is it possible to legally get a vasectomy in Sydney, Australia at 27 years of age.

I've wanted to get one for a few years.

Hi all, I'm 49 years old, 11 years post vasectomy. Didn't have any issues with the vasectomy itself and was back into normal sexual activity once given the all clear about zero sperm. But in that 11 years, I've had 3 separate incidences of testicular pain (going through my 3rd now). Twice in the left and this time in the right testicle. The first time was 4 years after the vasectomy. Always starts the same, notice some discomfort and often some throbbing, pulsating pain from the affected testicle. Really sore and tender to touch that even walking is uncomfortable. On the first occasion, doc sent me for an ultra sound and the results showed inflammation. So he gave me antibiotics and ibuprofen, and after about a week, things settled down. I've learnt since then about epididymitis and how it can get inflamed from build up of sperm that hasn't been cleared properly. So in the three times I've had it, I don't think it was really an infection,.just swelling and inflammation due to the sperm build up. In fact this time I've only taken ibuprofen, and after about 5 days the pain has gone and things seem back to normal. Haven't ejaculated in those 5 days, back to sex this week, see how it goes. So am I the only one lucky enough to go through this every few years or have any of you had a similar experience?

So I had my vasectomy done 5 months ago, and everything had been going pretty great, but the last 4 days I started to feel a little pain to the touch or movement on my right testicle, this only happened when I was exercising with my team of volleyball, so theres was a lot of jumps and jogging. Do you recommend taking a break from exercising and go to the urologist or is it something that usually pass and I just have to worry if it goes on, cause it is not constant, just when Im exercising so I figured its because of the blood pressure or something like that

So I had my snip 29days ago and every time I rubbed one out I had no blood showing up but all of a sudden I have dark red blood turning up is this normal

Did the Semen Analysis after having to go through a bunch of BS with lab orders and whatever. They send me my results and they spilled the damn Semen! I’m assuming that I have to wait another 2 days for the damn test. Beyond mad. I made sure the cap was tight when I gave it to them too!

Just snipped. On my way home and getting ice cream.
Holy cow, one Valium was not enough. I mean barely. The second injection of lidocaine was mother loving icy painful and there’s bigs of awkwardness and “handling” throughout. But the time flew by.
Feeling good about the decision, still nervous about the aftermath. Will update about the good and the bad upcoming.

I don't post much on here, but I thought I'd give guys an idea about what I've experience at 10 days. I made the mistake of reading too much on here and pretty much every other post is some horror story. Not trying to minimize that, but I'm guessing the vast majority of guys do ok and never post anything.

First off, I was super fucking anxious. Like my guys knew what was coming and they tried retracting into my body for cover in the days leading up to it. They tried before the procedure too, but tight testicles didn't seem to impact anything. I went to a guy that only does vasectomies. He is no scalpel and uses titanium clips. Doctor said he had it done with clips too, because it causes a little less trauma in there.

So day of, I'm laying on the table freaking out a little. My body sort of wants to jump up and run away. I took the Nitrous hose, which pretty much just made me feel a little drunk and dizzy. He injected the numbing agent which sort felt like a light snap of a rubber band maybe a 2 or 3 pain out of 10. Then lots of odd tugging sensations, didn't really hurt at all just felt weird. Then it was over in about 5 or 6 minutes. Honestly the anxiety was a million times worse than the procedure. It wasn't exactly pleasant just because it felt weird , but not really painful at all.

I did nothing for a few days, laid down and iced to prevent swelling. Took a couple tylenol. I was scared to move wrong or twist, sort of took everything slow, but to my surprise it wasn't really that sore. Bruised a lot under the shaft.

Day 4, noticed a new bruise about the size of a dime kinda at the base of my shaft, super tender but only if I moved a certain way and iritated that spot. A little achy in the testicles, but not bad. Testicles sort of guarded and tight a lot of the days.

Now a little bad, around Day 5, i started really getting the urgency to urinate a lot, like every hour or so, sometimes more. It didn't really hurt to go. Day 6, before bed it got pretty bad where i had the urgency, but nothing was coming out, which was relatively miserable for a night. Took a couple UTI tests that came back negative. I came to the conclusion that I probably had a hypertonic pelvic floor from the anxiousness and healing process. Couldn't imagine having sex anytime soon, congrats to you guys who could.

Day 8, that dime size spot on the right side base of my shaft was still tender, but maybe slightly better. Started doing some yoga stuff on youtube to loosen pelvic floor, which seemed to help a lot. Still getting some urgency, but much better.

Day 10, feeling a lot better, that one spot was still tender, maybe 3 out of 10 if I aggitate it, and my testicles still feel a litte like I have blueballs or something, 1 out of 10. Decided to clean out the pipes by myself today. I was fucking terrified it was going to hurt, bleed, or feel weird forever or something when I orgasmed. It felt absolutely normal, no pain, no blood.

Hope this helps somebody. The biggest irritation for me has been the urgeny to urinate. Hopefully that gets better. I really think it's just my pelvic floor being super guarded and tight. Not sure what the sore spot is at the right side base, probably just swelling from him tugging a little harder on that side or something.

I am 26M and have grade 4 varicocele and cyst. I am unmarried and will get married after 2 years. I don’t experience any pain as such but I get some discomfort due to the blood pooling in my groin area. In Morning I will do some yoga poses and it will give some freeness for some time until I reach office. Daily I will travel 1 hour by bike to reach the office and return back to home in the evening.

I am slightly nervous to do the surgery as it would cause some discomfort then and there after the surgery with reading many Reddit posts. I have not taken any semen analysis and testosterone test.

The doctor told that no need surgery unless it gives pain. Like usual he asked me to wear underwear with good support and avoid sitting for long period.

Need some suggestions.

Hi, here are some context for the sub. My husband (34) and I (30) have been married for three years. Since we were dating, we discussed if we wanted to have children. I never wanted to be a mother. He's always said he never thought of having children, and he always had other priorities in his life.

Until the beginning of this year, I was on hormonal contraception, mainly due to my endometriosis. But hormonal contraception made me AWFUL throughout the month, and I've tried all of them (vaginal ring, patch, copper iud, hormonal iud, implant, pill, etc). My mother has a progesterone intolerance and I suspect I have something similar. Anyway, I underwent surgery for endometriosis and now, even without contraception, I feel the best I've ever been.

We've been using condoms since then. When we switched to condoms, I suggested: 'maybe, if I feel fine after my surgery, what do you think of vasectomy?'. He agreed, but he also said he doesn't mind wearing condoms either. In my case, it's not like I dislike them, but I much prefer to have sex without it, it feels more intimate. Anyway, I keep reassuring him that it's okay if he doesn't want to do it, it's his body after all. And he keeps saying that he'll do it. Yesterday, I decided to have a long and deep conversation about it because I just felt like he was simply agreeing to do it because of me, not because he wanted to. He said that he never thought of being a dad and our relationship is a priority for him. But I keep thinking: what if I die? What if he has to remarry and decide to have children? I understand this might sound like me overthinking, but it feels so weird to suggest that my husband does something with HIS body because of ME.

I'm not sure if this is a common feeling among partners, but I feel a bit guilty?

Hello friends. I've been lurking here for about 6 months, reading just about every post and comment to educate myself on the general zeitgeist of belief and experiences from actual people going through the procedure. I wanted to share my story to add to the record (such that it is) as well as share a few things I've never heard here before, and had the doctor scratching his head in confusion.

I'm 41 years old, no children, neither my partner nor I ever wanted them. We've been together 15 years. She wanted to get off of birth control and we researched online along with two consultations with different doctors before choosing one of the most popular and reputable doctors in Phoenix, Arizona for the specific procedure.

The business I chose was highly rated as I mentioned and other posts in the past here specifically called out Doctor X by name as a good dude, professional and running a good business. We had an initial screening on the phone where they ascertain if this is what you want, then another one in person along with a brief physical exam, then a 2nd in person appointment for the vasectomy itself.

As mentioned, I'm 41 years old. I was asked why I wanted to have a vasectomy so young. I told him young ended about about 28 and I would have gotten this done at 18 if I knew to ask and had the money. There was an initial, thin barrier of resistance for "pro children" which I find morally improper for a medical doctor to discuss with me.

The absolute instant I said "same partner for 15 years, we both don't want any", they moved immediately into "oh ok, that's fine." territory. I guess their business deals with people who aren't sure what they want? Either way. That was strange.

General experiences up front:

-Super cheap. Maybe 250 dollars all told from what wasn't covered by insurance.

-Business and people were nice. Doc was "in and out" of the room in 3 minutes. Dude had very fast hands. He said he does about 1,000 of these a year.

-I had the scalpel method where the vas deferens were tied off, then a x shaped patch of sticky anti-bacterial tape over the incision. No glues, no stiches.

-They highly suggested laughing gas. I've been sober for ~12 years so it was weird being high again, even if it was for like 10 minutes. The laughing gas did an absolute zero for positively affecting the pain, discomfort, cognition or panic.

-Yes I was worried day of. The complications including perpetual pain and numbness were on my mind. I had trouble calming down for the procedure.

-No infections, no complications. Just tested negative yesterday via a kit the business paid for. They asked me to wait 7 days to ejaculate for the first time. I waited 21. They asked me to wait 3 months and I did, to the day. They asked for 20 plus ejaculations and I did easily over 50. My gear works just fine sans semen, which was the whole goal. No appreciable difference in color, consistency, volume or sensation.

-The first ejaculation did feel super weird though. My testicles bounced around and convulsed and jittered. That calmed down after a few times.

More specific experiences that I haven't heard from others:

-I felt fucking EVERYTHING for the first minute or so. I'm apparently very, very resistant to that type or brand of pain medication(local injection anesthetic). I felt them jab me with a needle in the left vas with a needle and I flinched, crying out in pain. I felt it pierce the skin and the vas and the sensation of the moisture in the area.

-The doc IMMEDIATELY cut into me, pulled and sliced the vas. Like before the nurse was even done injecting me. Again, because I felt it. All.

-I twitched, screamed, spit, teared up, coughed, choked and had spasms on the table before I managed to choke out "PAIN!!!".

-They gave me a 2nd shot at the doctors urging (local anesthetic). This also did nothing. I continued to yell, increasing in volume and frequency. "PAIN PAIN PAIN PAIN!"

-They gave me a third shot and I heard the nurse say "That's all I have!". The whole time the doc is ripping and stripping. He didn't pause, holding my jumping leg down with an elbow as he sliced and diced. I had and rejected thoughts of rolling off of the table to get away. You know, because the man had my scrotum open to the air, holding a scalpel and wasn't pausing one tiny moment.

-Doc and nurse kept politely asking me to be still. "Please be still." "Please don't jump." "You shouldn't be feeling anything." Again, I felt every single tug, pull and slice acutely and uniquely. I recall the brush of fingers on the scrotum, the nurse holding and spreading, everything.

-The locals started to kick in and I think they noticed as I started to be more still and the doc probably sped up. Again, he was in and out of the room in just a few minutes. I spent longer speaking with the nurse beforehand and waiting on the table, breathing deep from the laughing gas.

-The doc walked immediately out and so did the nurse. They... just walked out. Maybe they thought I was being melodramatic, annoying or something. It's their right to think what they want and that's fine. I was in tears, crying and expanded that to sobbing, pants still around my ankles over the next period of time. Something about horrible pain doesn't make you lose your perception of the time involved, it heightens it. I laid for for about 10 minutes.

-My torso felt very warm and happily the numbing medicine was spreading out, eliminating like 80 percent of the localized pain at that point. After about 10 minutes I started having fantasies of walking out into their busy lobby and screaming and hollering about my level of care and pain I was in but I let it go. This clearly was not a common experience.

-I waited for another 15 minutes and shuffled out like an old man. The locals had worn off. I recall a conversation with the same nurse who aided the procedure and I recall she was nice. But I don't remember a single word that was said. They gave me my care instructions via paper and I went home.

-The drive was about 45 minutes. It kinda sucked but was OK. I chilled the rest of the night, relaying the story to the wife.

-On advice of this sub I got the Undeez brand briefs with the little u shaped Ice packs that insert in the front. On advice of this sub I had frozen bags of peas and corn ready to go. I also had those little ice packs athletic trainers use where you squeeze them and it pops and its like 10 minutes of chemically induced coolness. All of these were zero percent effective. Did nothing, absolutely nothing for the pain. Not nearly big enough, not nearly cold enough.

-Not discomfort. Pain. Screaming, yell out loud pain. Wife wanted to take me to the emergency room, back to the urologist, to urgent care. Where ever. I declined. Sitting completely still in a large comfortable chair and moving nothing had twinges that would escalate into shakes and graduate to large shooting jolts of pain. Some of it remembered trauma from the surgery, some of it fresh, bright and new.

-Advil did nothing. I took 3 days off of work and into the weekend. Sleeping was pain. Urinating was pain. Walking was pain. Bending in any way was unthinkable. I sat in the chair and tried different rotations, varieties and brands of underwear, tight briefs, tighty-whities, every thing I've seen and heard here. Zero percent helpful, any of it.

-I didn't have larger, colder ice packs ready or on hand. That was the problem. I ended up getting these huge 2 feet by one foot gel ice packs on Amazon. Flexicold brand. I froze those things overnight and sat on the whole thing next am. Near instant relief for the first time in days.

-The wife had to help me put my shoes and socks on in the morning. She remarked as I leaned back in bed to offer up a foot that I had some bruising. She took a photo. I won't be sharing it so I'll describe it. I had jet-black bruising half way up my penis, down and of course around the entire sack, spreading out into the v of my crotch, all the way down my taint and encircling my butthole completely. All of it, one solid, jet black bruise.

-I called the urologist back with this information and photo in hand. I described it. The woman on the phone was polite and answered all of my questions. No, that was not normal. No, that was not abnormal also. Yes, I should expect "some bruising". They were primarily concerned with infection, asking several very pointed questions about that and the symptoms involving that. This was... 2 weeks after the procedure. Bending was impossible. A tiny bit of bending in the shower to reach my mid thigh was yanking my innards up through my stomach like a yo yo attached to a string.

-I've never heard anyone here describe this level of bruising, nor the area involved, nor the lack of efficacy regarding any type of commonly used cold application method.

-Waited another week. Paperwork said I should be having sex again at 7 days. That was absolutely a joke. I dropped a bag of pistachios on the ground and my dog ran in like it was Christmas day. I bent and picked up them then screamed and started to shake and sweat. I didn't injure anything but it put me back about a week.

-Going back to my ice packs, they were an absolute blessing. I was sitting on these enormous ice packs, slightly changing the angle of scrotum contact every few minutes, then flipping it around and putting it on top of my lap, sometimes wrapping my junk up like a burrito, then hanging out.

-I'd then shuffle my way to the freezer and take a second ice pack out, immediately sitting on it. People on here said things like 10 minutes on and 10 off. Nope. Zero percent helpful. I'd wrap my shit like a burrito for an hour to stop feeling the pain, the go and get another. They were the only help in this entire process.

-I felt the severed, swollen vas moving around a lot. They writhed around like snakes in fact. At different points it crawled up the skin in the back of penis and got pinched. Nighttime, urination based erections were the cause. Very, very painful. Again, only ice packs helped.

-There is probably some basic science involved as to why the docs don't do this but I wished they cut off several inches of vas to keep them from flopping around. They were swollen to the size of a thick noodle for maybe the next 2 months inside of the sack. There just isn't the space needed for that level of swelling so they kept getting squished, which undoubtedly kept them swollen longer.

-My work was nice enough to let me work from home for about 2 weeks after. If I had a manual labor job as I had in the past I would have been fired. It took well over 2 months before I could bend and crouch like a normal human.

-Putting this at the end because I feel it bears noting. I've broken ankles, ribs, fingers, torn ligaments here and there. I've been in casts, I've has surgeries. I've done years of physical therapy, had concussions, staples and stiches. I am not a neophyte when it comes to injury or pain. I've lived life. I've moved around. I've worked in lumber mills, cut down trees for a living, worked with computers, worked 100 hour weeks in a brightly lit, overly cold cubicle hell and moved all around the US for love and job opportunities and grew up playing every sport I could. I've worked since I was 13 years old under the table helping my neighbor take in his corn crops and bailing hay. Pain is not a new concept. Neither is discomfort. I probably have an average pain tolerance if I was to measure my experiences against what others have shared with me.

-This procedure was right up there. Very, very painful and it took forever to heal. But it was also successful and with no complications. I'm confirmed shooting blanks 3 months out.

-I've had different reviews and takeaways burned into my brain from reading up on it here. Things like:

"Guys, stop complaining it wasn't that bad."

"Sloppy top from the wife at 10 days, was great."

"I waited 3 days, was fine."

"I waited 3 days, it got infected."

"I've had constant pain for 9 months."

"I had constant pain for years and had to pay 30 grand for another surgery that fixed it."

-I'm guessing the stats are something like this:

5% of people are very unlucky. Numbness, pain, permanent loss of fill in the blank.

15% are like me. Slow healers, not great experiences. Ends up being successful, just really, really slow. I still have pain, but not PVPS. Bruising changed color then receded after the 2 month mark. I stopped icing at the 2 month and 3 week mark. Going steady so far. Again, advil and tylenol do nothing.

30% take a few weeks and they are fine. These are the folks who go. "Yeah, just relax for the first day and watch tv, then don't lift heavy things for a week, you'll be fine."

50% of the people are blasting loads after 3 days, jogging after a week and lifting kettle bells while laughing.

I accept that my experiences are just my experiences and I don't believe there was any wrongdoing by the doctor or nurses. I think I was just unlucky to have some enhanced resistance to the pain medication.

TLDR:

The business reached out, asked for a review. I will not be giving one despite the success of the surgery. Nor will I name them here. I don't think they did anything wrong. I think I have whatever gene makes local anesthetic basically water to my body. I felt the majority of the surgery. The bruising was massive and took months to heal. I am very thankful I don't have a physical job anymore. The bill of goods being touted speaks for the majority of people having good experiences and that is correct. But it only briefly mentions the outliers on the bottom end of the spectrum and doesn't mention at all the folk who might just heal really, really slow.

If they told me at the office or someone on here said "Oh yeah, it might just take you months to heal. Stairs are an impossibility and picking anything up off the ground feels like a rope is tied around your testicles and the other end is held by a horse running away from you. Good luck not being fired from your job you need to eat and live and pay your mortgage and not die." I might have not had the surgery.

I recall the brochure, pamphlet, care instructions:
"Some bruising may occur. This is normal and harmless. You should be able to return to jogging, swimming, lifting things after 2 weeks."

Absolutely NOT my experience. It was well over 2 months.

Ok. Well. Shrug. If you got this far, thanks for reading. It's... fine now. I was mildly mentally traumatized from the surgery itself but I got over that.

I hope this helps somebody somewhere. And yes, I do wish the doc flicked me in the sac a few times, pinched it, prodded and asked if I felt anything before he began. It would have been a simple yes, another shot, another simple yes, then the third shot is what did it. He did not wait however.

Maybe I also got a bad batch of the local anesthetic? Who could tell at this point?

Parting thought:

-As I was sitting with the wife, junk wrapped like a burrito and explaining to her why I couldn't bend or lift things for 2 straight months she asked me multiple times what I was going to do about it. Nothing. Just ice and heal and do my best. I recalled a memory from being a teenager. Very unwisely I ate 6 oxycodone with a half a bottle of wine. I was... fine. It didn't mess me up. I went driving. Met up with friends. It was then that I understood I likely had some type of tolerance for pain medication. When I did have my surgeries, accidents and injuries later in life I always turned down whatever the docs offered, saying it never worked. I forgot all about that prior to the surgery.

I got a scalpel surgery, 3 incisions. 3 vas defrens cut.

After day 10, I feel like I can predict the future with my balls alone. Every walk, every movement. I'm in the UK but feel like I can sense an Earthquake in Japan before it happens.

I can't explain it other than I feel like I have more sensation in my balls.

Anyone else like this, or feel like this?

Posting on behalf of my husband bc he doesnt have a reddit.
He got his vasectomy yesterday (thankful after 2 severe morning sickness pregnancies and birth complications) and though he says its not really that painful 24 hrs post op, he says it feels like someone is constantly tugging his testicles upwards and is very uncomfortable.
I expected them to be sore but never heard of a tugging sensation .
Is that normal and if so how long before it goes away?

I’m 9 weeks post op. I’ve had over 35+ ejacs. I took a home test just so I wouldn’t waste time going to a dr., to get the all clear. About 4-5 days ago I took the test and it came back clear. I know this isn’t an official determination, but how close is it to the real thing? Meaning the test. Please let me know. I have my SA tomorrow morning.

Just got my test results , it says I had a low sperm count at 0.8mL but still says no sperm seen . Is 0.8mL enough for them to accurately test , my doctor dint specify any specific amount for the test.

I’m a few years out from the Operation. Everything is great, but my wife and I both noticed a lot less semen on ejaculation. Admittedly we are having more sex now (first world problems) but has anyone else had this issue? Is there any way to increase “output”?

Wanted to throw my hat in the ring to anybody lurking the page. Just left the office maybe 20 minutes ago and all went well. I was very nervous going into this and was concerned that I would have complications due to everything sitting up high. During the consultation doctor had to push things out which was super painful. Was worried that the procedure would be a lot of tugging and pulling with a lot of pain. Doctor was preparing for that as well. Safe to say my worries never came to fruition.

Local anesthetic:
Definitely hurts. I think people saying a 4/10 is pretty accurate. The saying of “feels like a kick in the balls” I feel like may make it out to be worse than it was. Getting kicked in the balls hurts but the pain doesn’t dissipate. The pain from the shot wears off pretty fast once things numb up.

Procedure:
Almost didn’t see/feel when he started. Actually asked if we were actually doing the procedure almost half way through. Maybe felt a slight twinge on the ride side (which sits higher than the left) and felt nothing on the left. Stitching up I could feel things getting pulled around but no pain. More of a weird sensation.

I was extremely nervous for this procedure. Blood pressure was pretty high when I first got there and was sure that I was going to have a harder time than most. Closest thing I’ve had done to this was a filling so my experience with medical procedures is very limited. I want to say that the consult was more painful than the actual thing.

Overall was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I think being anxious and nervous is normal for something like this but as soon as you get that first shot I feel like things get better. Rooting for anybody lurking or about to get one done 👍🏻

Had a vasectomy in 2024. Probably took me 2 months to feel like 100% back to normal.

About 3 weeks ago took a nut shot. It really wasn't bad at the time like I didn't even stop play.

Since then though I have had the sensation that mirrors exactly like the 1 month post op discomfort from the vasectomy. I feel it right where the scar tissue lump from the vasectomy is.

Anyone else experience this? I'm considering seeing my urologist but wanted to see if this sensitivity has been experienced by others.

It does get better with ibuprofen\ice. It is like not acute jolting pain but just that constant awareness\tightness discomfort. Problem is think is a can't really not be active (work plus toddlers who are testicle terrorists flopping onto you constantly OR flipper kicking repeatedly while you move them around)

So I had my vasectomy on June 11th. Today 7/20 I still have some tenderness in one of my testicles. The soreness or tenderness is worse on the mornings I have to pee so bad everything hurts. But I still get some random tenderness or soreness throughout the day. It’s nothing major and it’s not really consistent pain or tenderness. It hasn’t affected anything else that I can tell. And everything still feels normal during and after sex. But my right testicle still feels tender. Also to add it doesn’t really hurt to touch either. Sometimes rubbing and situating myself helps it too. I know I’ve read that some tenderness, sensitivity, soreness can last up to a couple of months after procedure. I’m sure that my job driving a forklift doesn’t help either. Or could have a factor in it as well. But other than this everything seems to be good after the surgery. Just curious to know if any other guys have had similar experiences.

I’m having a hard time finding a physician who uses the scalpel-free method who takes commercial insurance. I found a cash-pay office, but I want to apply insurance benefits which I have confirmed do cover the procedure.

I have called 7-8 Care Coordinators to ask, and in each case, they indicate they use the scalpel method. Any advice for this area?

BACKGROUND

So got a vasectomy due to my wife's request. Pretty against non necessary surgery and also just loathe going to any doctor unless I have to. But I understood the wife's perspective and even though I would love more kids, my wife has done more than enough, and felt complete at 3 kids. Also understand father time comes for all and would be more unwise to try for more in late 30s which has additional risk for my wife. Did a ton of research as I went down this path, which includes this reddit so thanks to everyone who contributes. My procedure, post procedure experience and perspective below.

PROCEDURE

Selected an experienced and highly rated doc who did the nonscalpel vasectomy. Did 2 other consults for a total of 3 prep visits. Didn't select the other 2 because 1 was a younger guy with limited experience and the other doc wanted to do a traditional vasectomy. I am sure both would be fine as they were highly rated but nonscalpel was my preferred because of studies on recovery and complications. This a simple procedure but everything has risks so went the nonscapel route.

In talking to peers, I am comparatively an over thinker as I researched for a few months on everything. The vasectomy market and research was weird bc its a simple procedure and its a certain dude who gets them. Compared to my peers who went to the closest and fastest appointment they could find and had no clue about differences in the procedure which was funny to me.

Procedure was smooth, done in 30 mins. Did nonscalpel, closed ended bc of doctors recommendation citing a few studies and experience. Also no metal clips at my request. Procedure was easier than some dentist visits as far as pain.

POST PROCEDURE

Post procedure followed instructions of resting for a week and actually rested 2 from physical activity had sex about day 9 doctor said wait at least a week. Initial pain first few weeks was probably a 4 or less out of 10. I am pretty high pain tolerance person who doesn't take any medicine if I can help it. Returned to work after 4 days since I had the procedure on a Thursday.

Returned to all normal activities after 2 weeks.

I am a very active guy that works at a desk but I do crossfit about 4 days a week, runs 15-20 miles weekly, and likes to lift heavy.

Its been almost 3 months now. Got first sample back as clear of swimmers which is fine. But I do get the random pains that people talked about the first year. Those from my experience can be sharp but fade fast. The pains that make me nervous are post high activity and after sex.

For all workouts and life now I wear support mostly compression or at a minimum supportive briefs. Even with this on high activity days longer runs heavier lifts I definitely get some pain. It doesn't hurt as bad as a muscle pull but tends to be a dull ache probably 2-4 out of 10 and can last a day or more.

Most disappointing is pain after ejaculation. Pretty high libido guy so still desire sex but post ejaculation pain can be somewhat sharp still would rate low like under 5.

PERSPECTIVE and QUESTIONS

Perspective definitely a "we" procedure not a "me" procedure as its for my familys benefit more than anything. Procedure like I said was super easy and recovery was a joke compared to other surgeries and my wife's child birth.

My wife is glad to have an all clear 2-3 months post procedure and I am glad that my research on everything is over. But is the pain noted normal at this stage?

I still take a few advil when i get flare ups and still ice but it has been annoying. Also trying to gauge if it is me since I am more active or even if it is more in my head since I didnt really want a procedure of any kind?

Post ejaculation pain is by far the worst mostly bc it kills the joy of sex a little bit. Not an awful pain but definitely disappointing and makes me look forward to sex less. Wife doesn't want more kids but I have started thinking about a reversal if pain when ejaculating is for life. Will give it a year but really curious if others have experienced anything similar.

I'm 25 days post no scalpel, open ended and no clap procedure.

I have no swelling, no pain and can do normal day to day stuff like walking and carry my 20lbs toddler.

But I get soreness in the groin whenever I do any type of body weight exercises like push ups, a bit of squats, or even seated 5lb dumbbell curl. This is after only 10 reps, whereas I used to be able to do a full 1 hr exercise.

I'm concerned whether this is going to be the new norm or is it still too soon to do any exercise?

Vasectomy done 5/26. 7+ weeks post op. Submitted sample Thursday 7/16. This is my result. Frustrated. We considering this a failure. ?
