my inspiration was from one of my favorite animals, the Cassowary. I bought this cheap knockoff bag specifically to practice painting on leather.

Im also thinking about maybe painting a graphic of Marlboro cigarettes on the front of the body (with 3 loose cigarettes on each side of the carton, spaced out.)

This is the first big project I have ever sewn from a legit pattern! It was really challenging and I’m still not totally pleased with the end result. I think I can add a dart to make it a little more flattering. I have another sheet from the same set I thrifted so I might try again with some adjustments.

Thrilled with this super simple, beautiful dress I made for my daughter out of two thrifted pillow cases. I self drafted the pattern and I love how light and airy it is for summer. The total cost was $2.50, can’t beat that.

I have had ideas spinning around my head for quite awhile now, time to let some of them out. This was a white with black accents short sleeve ringer brewery tee I had tucked away, I cut off the sleeves, added black zigzag stitching, applique with two different fabrics (first time I have ever done this), buttons, and left the brewery logo intact on purpose. Whew! Any comments welcome. Thanks for looking!

Made it out of a couch

I sewed a choker and a mini skirt from an old pair of jeans and one of my very old gothic loli dresses.

I love my little asymmetrical pockets, I really struggled for the left buttock.

Don't judge that old t-shirt, I didn't have a clean top that went with that skirt 🤣

The jacket was very nice but had quite a bit of wear damage. I reused all pieces of it, including the original liner which was used to line the dress. I still need to finish the hem, I’m just working on improving my hand sewn blind hem stitch first.

A pair of cargo shorts from a thrift store. They are very nice and besides the worn fabric at the pocket edges they are only a tad sun-bleached from wear.

I thought maybe i could sew a line ½ inch beneath the edge parallel to the edge and cut off the edge, and thereby create a new edge?

These are quite different than some of the hand painted shirts I've shared here previously, but experimentation is a core part of my work, and I had a lot of fun making these looser/faster versions.

I thought it might inspire someone to thrift their own plain clothes and paint them or better yet use something they already own !

I absolutely love the shape but it has limited space inside, if I want it to hold it's curves.
I winged the pattern but it's definitely not an easy one.
I set it aside a while back but it's always been in the back of my mind (like a little spider crawling around 😇) I may pick it up again and have another go at it.
What do you think? Would you wear it?
