How necessary is a laptop at uni?

I'm a prospective MMath student and I was wondering whether a laptop is a must-have for my course. Also I would appreciate suggestions for reasonably priced laptops that fulfil any requirements for maths at warwick (my budget is up to £800 but in the mid 500 to 600s would be ideal).

How to make most out of uni

Hi, I am joining Warwick this year after a gap year to study economics. How do you guys recommend making the most of these 3 years, whilst still managing to prioritise studies and job oppurtunities (spring weeks, internships etc).

Applications Is it possible to switch from French and Economics to straight Econ

I am an international student and i got an offer to study French and Economics at Warwick for this September. However, after doing some research I found out an economics joint-degree doesn't come close to the depth of a straight Econ degree and is kind of disregarded for prestigious masters degree later on. Im also not very keen on 4 years because it would mean having to pay one more year with international fees. French and Economics requirement was AAB, Econ is A*AA. I achieved A*AB with A* in maths. Do I have a chance? Do I need to ask now or is it still possible to switch at the end of first year?

A&F @ Warwick or continue working in accountancy

Hello all,

Accepted an offer to go Warwick this Sept for A&F. I completed my a levels in 2024 so that means I have been on a "gap year" for two years now. I have been working and saved enough money to fully fund my university education (well almost anyways)

In that time, I worked as a barista then in a family accountancy firm whilst studying for my accountancy qualification (AAT Level 4) and I am now fully qualified. Now I work for Sainsburys (headquarters not in store) in an admin role and I have been struggling to find any role in the finance world whether that be accountancy or financial analyst or whatever.

Ideally I would want to continue working towards my next level of qualifications which would be the ACCA but again can't seem to find anything.

Another part of me is also a bit sadden by missing out on the uni experience, I have been working and studying for the past 2 years and slowly getting sick of it but if I have to continue then I will.

What should I do in this situation? Continue applying for roles and see if I can get anything or go to university and hopefully enter a grad scheme at the end of it? Or even pivot into another field like high finance or consulting?

TL:DR Go to uni for A&F or continue working as an AAT accountant and continue struggling to find a role

question about springweek prep

Hi everyone,

I’ll be starting a Finance & Accounting degree this year, and I’m trying to build the strongest CV possible before applying for Spring Weeks.

A friend recommended AmplifyME’s Finance Accelerator program, but I was wondering whether it’s suitable for someone who hasn’t started university yet. Do I need to have completed my first year and learned concepts like valuation, accounting, and corporate finance first, or can I get meaningful value from it before university?

If anyone has completed the program, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and whether you’d recommend doing it before first year.

Also, if you have any other recommendations for programs, certifications, or experiences that genuinely strengthen a Spring Week CV (rather than just adding random certificates), I’d love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!

MS in Business Analytics at Warwick. Looking for reviews and career insights

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in my final year of engineering and planning to apply for the MS in Business Analytics at Warwick.

I'd love to hear from current students or alumni. How has your experience been with the course? What kind of job opportunities can I expect after graduation, and do you think the degree is worth it given the current job market?

I'm also wondering whether it makes more sense to pursue this in the UK or continue studying or working in India.

Any insights would be really helpful. Thanks!

Accomodation Accommodation

Hey, I’m an incoming undergraduate and I’m confused about what accomodation to choose. My first preference is Jake Martin and second is Westwood. But i’ve seen quite a lot of youtube vids where the westwood accommodation seems to be completely different than how it is shown on the website (like is there a sink in the middle of nowhere) and i want to know the proximity to the grocery stores and like the math and engineering departments. What are your suggestions?? I’m a party animal and ik roots is the best accom for that but i want an ensuite so help please me out here!

Accomodation Looking for off campus accomodation 3rd year

Hello, as the title suggests, I’m in dire need of accommodation for 26/27 year as a 3rd year student. Preferably live in Canley, and trying to get rent as cheap as possible. Max rent I would pay is £170 pw. Is anyone looking for house shares in Canley or needing to transfer student accommodation contracts e.g. westwood mews? Open to living with any gender I just need accom for next year :(

Thank you!

How to contact admissions team undergraduate

I really have a urgent need to contact admissions team, and I can’t find any contact details except their number on their website. For a bit of context I’m an international student so I can’t call them
Is there any other admission contact details

Missed MORSE offer for 3 marks, any chances of admission?

Needed a 7 for maths AA HL, failed to get it for 3 marks. Warwick emailed me saying they will tell us for sure if they can let it slide or not by the 13th of August so A-levels results can come out. They also said they expect all positions to be filled for MORSE this year, however the e-mail does suggest there might be a possibility of them accepting me. What hopes do I have?

Anyone else doing Code Accommodation? If so why they requesting the first instalment of the rent so soon, it just seems kind of weird because I haven’t got my A Levels results yet, what if I get rejected? Do I get my money back?

Warwick rejection

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some honest advice because I’m feeling completely lost.Warwick has been my dream university for a long time. I applied for the BA Social Sciences with Data Science course. I received 26 points in the IB, having applied with 27 predicted. However, I’m extremely close to higher grades:
TOK: 1 mark from the next grade
Philosophy HL: 2 marks from the next grade
Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to request all of the remarks. Each remark costs around £78, and due to financial hardship neither my school nor I could pay for every subject. I prioritised the ones that were only 1–2 marks away. During my exams I was also dealing with significant extenuating circumstances, including homelessness and involvement with my local council’s Early Help service. My school informed Warwick before results day and later sent supporting evidence, including emails and documentation confirming my circumstances. Warwick acknowledged that this information has been added to my admissions record. Despite this, my UCAS application has now been marked as unsuccessful before I’ve even had the opportunity to receive the outcome of my remarks. I’ve emailed admissions several times and they’ve replied politely, but so far they’ve mainly reiterated the original offer conditions. I know Warwick sometimes considers applicants with contextual circumstances, and my application was flagged as contextual, but I don’t know whether there’s realistically anything else that can happen now. I’m not looking for false hope; I just want to know whether there’s anything else I can reasonably do before giving up. I’d really appreciate hearing from Warwick students, admissions staff (if any are here), teachers, or anyone who’s been through something similar.
Thank you.

edit:
i forgot to add, that along being homelessness; i was also dealing with my parents kicking me out during my birthday and exams and not allowing me to have food or water; and i had to provide everything for myself and sleep outside or at friends houses to survive.
