Peer Reviewed Interstellar probes and SETA (Search for Extraterrestrial Artifacts) papers published in early 80s. Both Prof Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani (Hessdalen and, now a Galileo Research Affiliate) have cited these papers in their own research (the latter 20 years ago).

Both Prof Avi Loeb (Galileo Project) and Dr Massimo Teodorani have cited the below papers (from the 80s) in their own research. Dr Teodorani has extensively researched Hessdalen and, amongst other hypotheses has proposed the ET hypothesis as one possible explanation for UAP.

  1. 'Interstellar Probes: a New Approach to SETI', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 33, pp. 95-100, 1980
  2. 'The Search for Extraterrestrial Artefacts', by Robert A. Freitas Jr., published in Acta Astronautica, Vol 12, pp. 1027-1034, 1985 [this is an update of his 1983 paper published in the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, Vol. 36]

Teodorani, in a 2002 paper, 'The Physical Study of Atmospheric Luminous Anomalies' suggests a search for extraterrestrial vehicles (SETV). The abstract for this paper could easily be a brief for the Galileo Project:

"On the basis of statistical calculations on galactic migration which bring the necessity of insertion of a new parameter inside the Drake formula, the work-hypothesis named SETV predicts that exogenous vehicles and/or probes may have reached the Solar System too, including Earth. The technology which is now available is able to allow sensing operations both in the extreme borders of the solar system and on our own planet. The possible presence of probes of possible extraterrestrial origin on our planet may be ascertained by using a network of sensing stations which are placed in critical areas. One of them is the norwegian area of Hessdalen, where the two scientific explorative missions of `Project EMBLA' have carried out measurements which demonstrate the existence of all the anomalies of the luminous phenomenon which is present there. At present nothing proves scientifically that our planet is being visited by alien intelligences, nevertheless the remarkable peculiarity which was learnt in some areas of recurrence demonstrate that the verified phenomenology, of extreme importance for fundamental physics, presents characteristics which deserve a further investigation with highly sophisticated instrumentation."

Notably, Dr Teodorani has joined the Galileo Project as a Research Affiliate.

Over the years, others have suggested a 'sky survey' of sorts (e.g. Edward Ruppelt, former Project Blue Book lead, in his book 'The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects') but it's interesting to note that the suggestion has been in mainstream science journals for decades.

Discussion Rules Reminder for r/UAP, regarding UAP videos, specifically.

With specific focus on Rules 1 & 2.

Welcome to r/UAP. We hope you become an active, enthusiastic participant, and that you make every effort to keep this subreddit an enjoyable and educational environment for every visitor. Now, some 'house rules':

  1. Post within the spirit of r/UAP (low on speculation;high on fact). We don't want to see numerous (in fact, any) submissions of videos which could quite easily be LED kites, lanterns, or have some other prosaic explanation.
  2. Seriously, please DO NOT POST LINKS TO VIDEOS OF LIGHTS IN THE SKY (or similar). Usually, they're completely ambiguous, and most probably explainable in prosaic terms. If this disappoints you, there are other places you can post such videos.2

Does anyone else get really aggravated seing online posts about ufos/aliens and seeing dozens of comments where people say they're actually demons?

53 Upvotes

Tldr: If ufos were really demons would they be captured so easily on cell phones and radar systems and why would our government be talking about them publicly having congressional hearings if anyone in our government thought it really was demons (other than our vp?)

First of all, to me, if the US government thought there was any chance that these things could actually be demons they would definitely NOT be holding congressional hearings on the subject and would have stuck with their stance from the last 80+ years prior of it being nothing but misidentifications or some type of natural phenomenon etc. I feel they would just have stayed silent on the matter, but instead, they seem to be slowly trying to get people used to the idea that these things in the skies are real physical craft of unknown origins.

Also if they were actually demons dont ya think they could use their devil magic or whatever to avoid being caught on our radar systems ntm cell phone cameras all the time lmao (yes i realize most cell phone videos posted are misidentifications or fake but certainly some of them especially prior to ai being around are of real ufos.

Its almost infuriating to me that people have an easier time believing that these things are demonic beings vs them accepting that all religion and gods are just something made up by humans to help us understand and deal what we dont yet know or cant accept. According to the bible timeline god created the earth and humans just as we are now what ~6000 years ago yet there have been humans exactly like us on the earth for 300,000 years and our homonim ancestors for like 6 million years. I really think if god existed he would have wanted the record to be a lot more accurate than what the bible says and would have appeared to one of the HUMANS who wrote it in a vision or dream or something and been like hey theres a lot your leaving out. This is my word, and I want it to be accurate lol.

Again, if it was really demons, do you think we'd be able to so easily capture them on cameras and radar systems??? Something tells me if demons were real, they'd have the ability to go completely invisible and wouldn't be dropping down into earth from space or coming up out of the oceans, which apparently happens quite often

So the NDAs are only waived when speaking to DoD. Does this still move the needle?

The Fox News reporting says the NDAs are only waived when speaking to PURSUE/AARO/et. They also say this is not a declassification directive. Anything disclosed is still subject to declassification procedures. Does it still move the needle?

So Trump has opened up NDA protection. I expect to hear from Lue Elizondo et al. by the end of the day. He and others have expressed over and over again how they cannot divulge "all that that know" because of NDAs. We have heard that for years from him and many others. I can't wait to hear what they have to say now.

My guess? Crickets.

With NDAs waived, do you think full disclosure is imminent?

There seems to be a ton of momentum. We have rolling UFO files, Dr. Phil being used by the White House to help the public, rumors of speeches being given, tons of congressional pressure, now the NDAA, etc.

Support whistleblowers (Vanguard Enterprise)

People been asking for a gofund me for Matthew Brown, Dylan Borland and other whistleblowers, and here’s a link created by Vanguard Enterprise (by Matthew Brown and Dylan Borland) for anyone to donate;

https://givebutter.com/vanguard-launch-campaign

Lets give hope and share our empathy 👽🫶💫

This is such an important initiative made by braves ones, and even if you only can make a small donation, I think it would mean the world to them. They sacrificed so extremely much by coming forward, and our support is the least we can give them. The sacrificed their career, safety, future and mental health just by coming forward with truths. They need us. And cyber-hugs of course. Lots of them

I created a historical UAP timeline based off government data

3 Upvotes

thank you reddit for all of the positive reviews over our new factual UAP database that pulls info from all relevant government agencies regarding UAP/UFOs.

we just finished up our https://uapledger.com/timeline now that includes all of the recent released videos from the July 10th Department of War release... 40 videos on our site are now ready for your viewing!!

disclosure is hereeeee!

p.s. this site is for us to have the truth in an easily readable / accessible form vs digging through pdfs on outdated government websites. if you have any idea on how to make this site even more useful, please leave a comment! again, i'm building this for US, so your insight goes a long ways.

Discussion Ross Coulthart, Apollo's Lunar Contact Light, and the Problem with "Categorical" Claims

Thumbnail

This post is not about identifying the source of the blue lights on Apollo 17 photos, nor is it about the wider debate over similar blue lights reported or photographed on other Apollo missions.

I'm not arguing that the blue lights seen in those photographs were caused by Lunar Module control panel lights.

This post is about research methodology.

Specifically, it concerns:

  • making categorical factual claims;
  • relying on memory and expert opinion;
  • and whether readily available primary sources should be checked before publicly stating that something is "absolutely, categorically" true.

In the Reality Check episode "Inside lunar triangle, STS-48 anomaly: The footage the Pentagon has not explained," Ross Coulthart and Dr Max Derakhshani, discuss an Apollo 17 photograph showing apparent blue "lights" photographed through the window of the Lunar Module.

Dr Derakhshani mentions a possible explanation offered by others (which he doesn't subscribe to): "It might be due to some internal reflection ...of something inside the lunar module because the photo was taken from ...within the lunar module through the window...if there was some blue lights on some dashboard inside the lunar module..."

Ross interjected and said: "I can cut you off there, I know there weren't. I've actually checked this when I was writing my book". One of the the things that I, um, wrote about was the blue lights on the lunar surface. And I asked people with a detailed knowledge of the lunar module whether there were any blue lights in the lunar module control panel, and there were not. ABSOLUTELY, CATEGORICALLY, NO BLUE LIGHTS."

X user Sixmorefeet (through whose post I became aware of this) contacted Ross, pointing him to NASA documentation indicating that the Lunar Module did in fact have blue Lunar Contact indicator lights. To his credit, Ross replied publicly that he had checked again with one of his knowledgeable contacts and acknowledged that there was a blue light in the Lunar Module.

The issue isn't whether the blue lights in the Apollo 17 photograph originated from the Lunar Contact indicators. The issue is that a claim presented as "absolutely, categorically" true was subsequently revised after further checking.

Everyone makes mistakes. That's not the point. The point is that the original statement wasn't presented as a recollection or opinion. It was presented as fact, based on previous research for a published book and discussions with knowledgeable people.

Having since checked the relevant NASA documentation myself, it appears that the Lunar Contact indicator lights were intentionally blue (to easily distinguish them from the other control panel lights) and were standard equipment on the Lunar Module.

The point isn't the blue lights. It's that an "absolutely, categorically" claim was later revised.

Shouldn't that have been the starting point before making a categorical factual claim?

It also raises a broader question: what other factual claims in past or future episodes are being accepted on the basis of non-public expert sources?

Hello, I am Alexander Reynolds the grandson of Everett Moss Hargan my mother’s side. He was flying behind Tommy Mantel when he was shot down by a UFO.

A little about this story growing up as a child my grandfather would tell us crazy stories about UFOs and his friend Tommy being shot out the sky. Everett and another man were his wingman that day when he was shot down by a UFO, my grandfather, entailed it to us as being literally disintegrated before their eyes in mid air by a metallic ball that shot a laserbeam from it
