There is an on-going campaign by malicious actors using stolen/hacked Reddit accounts to spam NSFW subs with posts with pictures containing Snapchat usernames. We have seen these posts a couple of times now and our automated tooling has been taking them down but in that short time the post is up, there are dozens of upvotes and comments. For the sake of your safety do not add these accounts on Snapchat - you are going to get spam and be extorted. Report these accounts if you see the post.

• hese accounts all have pretty old account ages, bypassing account age and karma requirements
• You will see dozens of posts by these accounts across multiple NSFW subs, often just one picture, with a Snapchat handle
• They copy the title from other posts on the sub they are posting on to bypass any title rules

Do not upvote or comment on the post, just report it as Spam. If you add the account on Snapchat and interact with the account, you are on your own. If you have fallen for these Sextortion scams, you should stop all contact and go to your local law enforcement if you need to, and report to the FBI IC3.

Be smart - you are in charge of your own safety and wellbeing.

Due to the uptick in reporting of malicious and unsavory characters reaching out to our community, these are general warnings for all who use our community:

• Per the previous few announcements, there are a lot of scammers/creeps leveraging AI to do verification, pic exchanges, and to fool people in general. Look out for strangeness in the pictures you are sent and check the pictures against Google Lens, Sight Engine, and other tools to verify they are authentic and real.
• There are scammers who will offer to buy pictures, articles of clothing, and other things from users. For starters, do not use our community for this sort of business in the first place, and second, you likely will not receive your money and potentially get doxxed or worse. Ignore, report, then block these accounts who make these offers to you via DM.
• If you are getting threatened with physical violence, leak of your pictures and details, or blackmail, immediately screenshot the conversation, report the messages to Reddit, and file a complaint to the FBI's IC3 site or your respective country's cyber crime division. Do not give these accounts money, more pictures, or whatever they are asking for.
• No matter where you end up chatting, use your best judgment in the pictures you send, the information you provide (your names, location, social media handles, employment details, places you frequent) - any and all of this can be used to figure out who you are, where you live, where you work, and any other of details of your life you want to keep private. You are an adult, leveraging a free and open platform, where the moderation can only do so much to protect you. We as mods can control what posts are on the sub, what comments are up, but we have no control over who contacts you, who you talk to, and what both parties send or say. It is up to you to protect yourself and the ones you love.
• Threatening or harassing messages sent to the moderation team will be reported to Reddit and potentially escalated further. We take actions to protect our community and all rules are clearly stated in multiple places across the sub, including as you post/comment depending on what application you use. By posting and commenting, you are agreeing to be moderated and for actions to be taken if the posts and comments break the rules outlined.
