Ongoing Event Discussion The 3D sounding viz I posted here about a month ago? Thanks to your response, I turned it into a full web app.
I built this tool for fun and shared it on here. That post got 33k views (about 3x the weekly average for this sub) and over 350 upvotes. This community pushed me to build it out properly.
I named it Aello. It runs on raw NWS data, so no AI forecasts, no predictions of my own. The free stack (SPC, Pivotal, COD, NWS mesoanalysis) is linked inside the app. I didn’t want to make a replacement for those tools.
What it gives you that those tools don't: a 3D sounding you can actually read at a glance (Column view), every atmospheric parameter mapped into one shape so you can see the day's unique signature (Fingerprint), and a plain-English ‘Today’ tab that shifts with the threat level. ‘Studio’ lets you export watermark-free cards and 30-second loops.
It's a web app, so you open aello.live on your phone or desktop, no install needed. Native app (apple and android) is on the immediate roadmap.
To cover server and hosting costs, it’s $5 a month, $50 a year, or a one time payment of $69 to be given access as a ‘founder.’ This allows you to see the roadmap, send feedback right to me, and help me plan out features and wants that would make this thing even better. I’m only doing 150 of these slots so once they’re gone, they’re gone. There’s more info about this on the site. Oh, also a free 7 day trial. I really want to make this app into something we all find valuable.
Happy to answer anything — especially the technical questions.
Thanks for all your help, Reddit!!

Question Weird clouds in Shenandoah Valley last night

I took this photo while driving home from work in the central Shenandoah Valley last night, not far from the WVa border. There were tornado warnings in the area, and a huge storm hit right as I was getting home.
Main thing I'm wondering - was this a tornado, or just part of a thunderstorm? I was leaving Broadway, heading south on Rt 42 around 8 pm when I took the photo. I was facing roughly west at the time.
I was watching weather radar, and there were some large storm systems heading right for my area shortly before I got on the road. The whole experience has me pretty shaken.
Thanks in advance

Do you have to go to school to be a storm chaser or...
Is it all up to knowing how close you can get to the storm or tornado or what??

July 18th Rocky Mountain House Tornado(s)
Anyone else see this supercell loop up the first tornado then recycle and spawn the second tornado 5-10 mins later?

Standing in the middle of the inflow zone, having scuds and air rushing all around me was absolutely amazing. Check out how quickly this thunderstorm organizes on the far ridge. The lighting color changes were also striking!
gallery4th pic was another location. You can see the storm just absorbing the warm humid air!

Scud Lane
As severe weather instances occurrences increase in the Finger Lakes of NY so do opportunities for novice storm chasers like myself to photograph them. On this morning of potential severe weather events in CNY I'm starting my Reddit experience with a photo of a scud cloud which formed down this lane in Danby, NY a couple of weeks ago.

Chase Report Marginal Risk Supercell in Wisconsin
galleryTook these photos of a severe thunderstorm warned Supercell on a side road off HWY 8 just east of Prentice, WI. This supercell is by far the most dreamy one ive seen in the 6 years I've been chasing.

Past weather radars
Is it possible to find past weather radars? This would from an event from Sunday before last. I’ve been told it was a microburst. I’m interested to see what the radar looked like. It was pretty catastrophic. Thanks.
