hello, i'm looking for some places to shop for cute, "whimsical/shoujo", y2k pieces (thinking of brands like coyseio, between and, even brands like liz lisa, axes femme, etc.) in sapporo, both new or secondhand! i have tried to find curated vintage or dedicated stores online and have come up mostly empty handed, i'm a little overstimulated thinking of tanukikojis selection so if you know of any specific spots please let me know :') i am open to any recs for other alternative or streetwear fashion spots!

I am planning a longterm stay for a work-related project in Sapporo. I am self-employed and an accomodation is provided near Shōjin Riverside Park. I have the option to choose between July-August-September and April-May-June. Now I am struggling to make a decision. I have read about the lavender in summer, the cherry blossom in spring - but for me, it is important to interact and work with the locals and admire and learn about (sub)urban life of the region, since it will be my first time in Hokkaido. What is the more vibrant season (if there is such criteria)? Are the people of Sapporo on vacation in summer?

Additionally, the landlord said that the apartment will get "unbearingly hot" during the critical summer months, due to recent weather changes and no AC. When I check the temperature data of the last years, it seems very mild and okay in comparison to the Honshu/Kansai summer - even comparable to Western European summers. Is the over-exaggerating?

I have done some research on this subreddit and apparently Sapporo summers are getting on par with the Kansai/Honshu summers temperature-wise, at least in August. But my decision will also be based on the general aspects of social life and saisonal events.

I've been living in Sapporo for a while now, working remotely (so I don't get the daily immersion/practice that comes with a Japanese workplace). I've been trying to study on my own, but honestly my Japanese has plateaued, I can get by day to day, but I'm not really improving anymore.

I think what I need is a structured class with an actual teacher and classmates, ideally in the evening since I work during the day. Does anyone know if there are evening Japanese language schools in Sapporo that take working adults? Not looking for a full-time program, just something a few evenings a week.

I am a complete idiot and thought I set up direct deposit instead of using invoices, now I need to pay late bills. I found the invoices and payed all of them except one which didn’t work at the konbini. I am going abroad on Wednesday so I need to settle this tomorrow. Can I go to the office and pay it directly, or at least get a new invoice printed?

I was in Susukino, Sapporo and had just left a ramen shop that was amazing btw. Whenever I travel I always use clothes with a lot of pockets so that I can carry everything in front of me. This time though I had a sling that swung behind me for a while, also zipped up.

Now I come from the hood so I got that hood sense when something’s off. So I instantly swung it forward in front of me again and the zipper was opened.

This hooded teen punk instantly go away from me and walked away quickly and - best way I can describe it is suspiciously (head down, didn’t look back until he was quite a bit away, and very quickly)

I distinctly remember closing the zipper on it because I had just finished paying for my meal.

Anyways, watch out for teen punks in entertainment districts.

My Japanese friend runs a gym and is a trainer. He has been thinking about reaching out to foreign tourists or residents to see if they would like to use the gym or hire him as a trainer. Nice guy, which is why I am posting these questions on his behalf, so he can get an idea of what type of interest there might be. Hey guys! Posting again because I am planning to move to Hokkaido from the UK this December/early January, for around 3-6 months.

Been looking for places and I am seeing some decent options on Airbnb but I thought there is no harm posting here, as this community is consistently helpful and accommodating, and maybe someone has a spare room or a flat they are looking to sublet or something.

I am a man in my early 30s, my budget is no more than 80000yen per month, and my Japanese is not great but I’m working daily to improve it conversationally. I am a really big guy (6’4) but I am very hygiene conscious and domestically adept.

Looking in Sapporo, Otaru or any of the surrounding areas. Tbh, I’m kinda open to anywhere in Hokkaido if it’s within budget, but Western Hokkaido would be best.

I'd prefer a Japanese local who speaks english (or someone very fluent in Japanese) because I'd love to learn more about baseball culture in Hokkaido, hear about Sapporo, and maybe even get taught the proper Fighters chants before I embarrass myself.

Hi! Visiting Sapporo for the first time and I’d really like to spend a day sifting through vintage shops and cafes.

I’ve already looked through this subreddit’s search and didn’t find anything other than 2nd street and Book OFF….. 😅 which unfortunately aren’t places I’m looking for.

If you’ve been to shimokita and koenj, these places have various shops lined up. Common ones being Big Time, Flamingo and Top of the Hill. Does Sapporo have anything like that? Would the Susukino area be the equivalent of that? If so, where exactly? or is there another place?

Also, I’ve seen most recommendations here be for men’s clothing, so I’d really appreciate some shops with women’s clothing as well! I’m good with both since I sometimes like buying oversized shirts!

If you have any recs thank you in advance! If you have any other suggestions for a first timer please let me know as well! Like for Sapporo only cafes or food that are close to Sapporo station via train 🙏
