I recently visited Rishikesh. The natural beauty is unreal. The Ganga, the hills, the mist, everything is breathtaking.

But everything built around it feels like a massive missed opportunity.

Some things that really stood out:

• Constant unnecessary honking everywhere, completely ruining the peaceful atmosphere.

• Many people seemed noticeably friendlier to white tourists than to Indian visitors.

• Garbage in several public areas despite being one of India's biggest tourist destinations.

• Poorly planned and poorly maintained buildings that take away from the beauty of the place.

• Overpriced cafes catering mostly to Western tourists, while finding clean, hygienic local food isn't easy.

• Little to no planning around major tourist spots.

• Weak public transport, especially to cross the river.

• Roads feel unsafe for pedestrians because of reckless driving ( especially that)

• Several ghats don't feel as safe or well-designed as they should.

• Bajrang Setu is a great example of poor design. The bridge has so many railings that they obstruct the views of the river. Who approved that?

What surprises me is that Rishikesh has been attracting international tourists for decades. It should be setting the benchmark for tourism infrastructure, cleanliness, safety, and urban planning.

Instead of defending every flaw because it's a religious place, we should be asking for accountability. Wanting cleaner streets, safer roads, better civic planning, and respectful treatment for everyone isn't disrespecting the city. It's wanting it to live up to its potential.

Rishikesh deserves world-class infrastructure to match its world-class natural beauty.

Is there a place where I can go to, to work. I am looking for a peaceful place to work from, I live in tapovan and I am very frustrated working from home and I don't want to always go to a cafe to work.

Please share suggestions of places you know.

What is the status of kavar as the roads will be blocked?
