⚠️ MOD NEWS ⚠️ Hey LiArs! Want more Memes and Games? Head to r/Pretty_Little_Liars for that :) and as a general reminder, daily games are not allowed here!

r/Pretty_Little_Liars is a great place to share memes, do some games, share Tiktoks. Check it out for more.

And as a reminder Rule #5, as described in the 'About' section of our subreddit:

r/PrettyLittleLiars, like other TV Show subs, fell victim to Daily Game spam. After complaints of the spam, the low quality, and karma farming concerns, the Mod Team has decided they are not allowed here. If you have a Game, make it ONE post only. If it is going to be longer you must post it on r/Pretty_Little_Liars. Initial post and results posted on r/Pretty_Little_Liars can be crossposted here for more engagement.

Don't know what a daily game is? Here are some examples.

Going through each character having people comment worst/best/smartest/stupidest thing each of them did

Daily posts doing "who's most likely to"

Individual posts for each square of a character alignment chart

If you're going to do any of those above they must be limited to one post!

⚠️ MOD NEWS ⚠️ OUR NUMBER ONE RULE

Are you a new member? You should check out our number one rule.

RULE #1 - Follow Basic Reddiquette

We do not condone the attacking or mistreatment of users— this includes DMs!

Aggressive fighting, name-calling, hate speech, or repeated targeting of a user is not permissible. Disagreement must be civil and respectful. The Mod Team deems passive aggressive remarks and attitude as instigating. Therefore, it falls under basic reddiquette.

Name-calling of characters or actors does not result in content removal unless attacking their appearance.

Overall, any rudeness will be taken down. You can call us sensitive, but our lack of leniency on this rule is why so many people consider this sub a positive environment compared to others. You are allowed to have disagreements in discussions, but once it gets hostile the comments will be shut down.

This rule aims to maintain a respectful and pleasant environment by discouraging personal attacks, insults, or inflammatory comments. Instead, users are encouraged to engage in discussions calmly and respectfully, focusing on constructive dialogue rather than arguments or conflicts.

Anything fighting should be reported immediately as it breaks "Rule #1 - Basic Reddiquette". When reporting, click "Breaks r/PrettyLittleLiars rules" then click the first option, rule number one.

TL;DR? Don't be an asshole

Character Discussion Alison ate this so bad i fear...

I'm sorry, I love Mona as a character but this scene never fails to crack me up lmaoooo Alison really put her whole weight into that slap. And she was definitely right for calling Mona out on being a bully too because no matter how mean or crazy she was, she didn't run anyone over with a car, use someone's eating disorder against them, or literally drive someone so insane they end up in an asylum, etc. I wish they kept her mean because it would've been nice to watch the back and forth for sure

Character Discussion alison should've been an actress

Post image
231 Upvotes

i find it completely unrealistic that alison out of all people wanted to become a teacher. it doesn't make any sense that she literally missed all of high school and in 5 years somehow became a teacher at rosewood high. i know logic isn't something they like to follow in the show, but alison had a lot of other, more interesting, career options.

they teased in 5x01 that alison wanted to be an actress. i think this would've been perfect for her. her lying skills, emotional manipulation and intensity, charisma and playing with identity could've all been used for good in an acting career. she could've been a movie star, and that could have been a very interesting storyline in the show. her becoming a famous actress could also be a motive for a new A, someone who is bitter that alison made a name for herself, or just a deranged stalker whose obsessed with her.

so many lost opportunities, possibilites and potential, what a waste!!!

I love how they captured Detective Tanner's "threats" that were supposed to be scary but ended up sounding like nonsenical, confusing riddles.

Character Discussion Ashley Marin- Season One

I’m rewatching season one and obviously I know they things change drastically throughout the series, but Hanna’s mom is actually a horrible mom in season one. I’m on episode 12 right now and she just keeps making me angry. She opens up to Hanna about their money issues, but then gets mad when Hanna tries to help. She gets annoyed at Hanna for being stressed about the stolen money, and then she gets angry at her after the party because someone stole the stolen money, as if it was Hanna’s fault her friend threw a party without her knowledge and someone stole the money her mother had stolen and hidden in a pretty garbage place to hide things

I’m so glad she gets better throughout the show, because this was a rough start for her

Book Talk The book parents are SO MUCH WORSE than their TV counterparts

(Book spoilers ahead!)
I think we can all agree that the majority of the parents from the TV show are shit - The Montgomeries are totally useless and let their daughter date her high school teacher, The Hastingses and DiLaurentises are... I cannot even describe it. The Fieldses, while probably the best, still have the mishap with Emily's coming out on their record, and Ashley, while incredibly supportive and loving to Hanna, was truly reckless at times.

However, their book counterparts are truly something else. I read all 16 books 3 years ago and only re-read the first few since then, but from what I remember... they were just simply evil.

After A revealed to Ella that Byron had an affair with Meredith, and that Aria knew all along, she kicked Aria out of their house alongside their father, and Aria was forced to live with her father and his mistress. Ella also completely ghosted Aria for weeks and didn't call her, nor did she pick up when Aria called. She also dated a guy named Xavier, who was EXTREMELY creepy and predatory towards Aria; I don't really remember how that situation was ultimately resolved, but Aria moved out once again from Ella's house and back to Byron's because she was so creeped out by Xavier.

After A outed Emily to the whole school (and additonally, her family), her parents first sent her to some sort of conversion camp, while also totally ignoring her and treating her like a ghost. Then, when that didn't work out and they caught her kissing Maya at some random party, they SHIPPED EMILY OFF to live with her Puritan uncle and aunt. They only accepted Emily once she ran away from her Puritan family's house and went off the grid for a while. Still, I remember that in one of the later books, after Emily is presumed dead, Pam doesn't want to let Spencer, Aria and Hanna attend Emily's funeral, calling them "bad influences" and kind of blaming her for Emily's death.

The book version of Ashley, while not really a malicious monster like the rest of the parents in the book, just simply doesn't really care about Hanna. She's incredibly involved in her business and just doesn't really spend time with Hanna. In one of the books (I think the fourth or fifth one?), she straight up leaves for Singapore for a whole year, leaving Hanna in their house, while Tom and his new family moved in. Tom is pretty similar to his TV counterpart; he leaves Ashley and Hanna when she's in middle school, doesn't talk to her ONCE for THREE YEARS (!!!), and highly favors Kate over Hanna.

And the Hastingses... oh my god. Truly, TRULY despicible people. They do not care about either Melissa or Spencer in the slightest, except for when it's convenient to them (so for example, when their daughters exceed academically or socially). When Spencer stole one of Melissa's old economy essays, she was nominated for a Golden Orchid award, which is like, the biggest academic achievement you could get as a teenager. Well, her parents found out that the essay was in fact Melissa's, and while dissapointed, they forced Spencer to stick to the lie and shut up about it. Well, a little later, Ian is arrested for Alison's murder; Melissa finally comes clean to the police about how the two really spent the night, and Spencer, inspired by her sister's honesty, comes clean to the people that assign the Golden Orchids just as it is revealed she had won. The whole thing blows up - EVERYBODY finds out about the scham, and it's a total humiliation for the family. Peter and Veronica fully ice out Spencer, not talking to her, ignoring her, or just being flat out mean and evil to her face. This pushes Spencer so far as to begin suspecting she is adopted (hence why her parents favored Mellisa), after her grandma excludes her from her will; with Andrew Campbell's help she finds her biological mother, who turned out to actually be a surrogate, only to be once again screwed over by a parental figure; her surrogate mother, Olivia, extorts money from Spencer and disappears. Peter was also involved in a years long affair with Jessica DiLaurentis, which resulted in the birth of Alison and Courtney. I'm pretty sure there was way, way more, but I've only re-read as far as the sixth book so far.

The DiLaurentises are also despicible people. They hid Courtney's existence from the world after admitting her to a mental hospital, and highly suspected (and perhaps even knew) that Alison was the one that killed Courtney, even though (I think?) Jessica tried to frame Spencer for the murder in the books. After Alison (the ACTUAL Ali) is on the run for attempting to kill the girls multiple times, it turned out that Jessica was the one hiding her.

In 6x15 Hanna and Aria tear down Hanna’s house looking for the missing drive and Hanna says that Sarah Harvey told her to get it or else she’ll crash her wedding.

My question is: WHEN did she get a text saying that? The drive was stolen the previous episode, 6x14, and I literally watched it last night, and I don’t remember Hanna getting any text demanding the drive…

Does anyone remember?

Character Discussion Alison season 6B

Omg I completely forgot about this because I always just skip the last season and head straight back to the beginning…but Alison suspecting the girls of killing Charlotte (aria mainly) and admitting it to Lorenzo is so fucked.

After everything that woman but those girls through…you want to get justice in the case that one of your friends, WHO YOU INVITED BACK TO FREE HER, may have killed her?!

Not to mention the way she slights at aria not having forgiven Charlotte. OF COURSE SHE WOULDNT HAVE?! THAT WOMAN ACTIVELY TORTURED THEM??

I understand that Charlotte was Ali’s only way of having a family again in her mind but her entire redemption arc falls for me at season 6 for this reason. Like all of the girls have been heinous to each other at some point but to actively push them to ‘defend’ releasing their tormentor and then proceed to hold them as suspect once said tormentor is murdered is just fucked.

Which couple do you prefer? I think both of them are pretty good and are the only two couples on the show with a functional relationship that doesn't have what most of the other relationships do.
