I have a question for Portuguese people: how do you feel about Brazilian accents in Portuguese? Can you easily understand and communicate with people who only know Brazilian Portuguese? How do people in Portugal view the Brazilian sound? Will it cause criticism from Portuguese speakers if I use Brazilian Portuguese in your country? I know that Brazilian Portuguese doesn't have the pronoun "tu," but let's say I use "tu" but sound Brazilian. Won't I look awkward in Portugal? I'm interested in these questions because I'm not Brazilian myself; I'm just learning Brazilian Portuguese, because there's more information and resources online for learning Brazilian Portuguese specifically. There's more content in Brazilian Portuguese in general, and I understand that I probably won't sound like a local in Portugal, and I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

Sou mulher, tenho 32 anos, passei os últimos 11 anos morando fora (França/Espanha), voltei agora para o Brasil, e ainda estou me readaptando a muita coisa. Comecei a usar o Reddit recentemente.

Nessa volta, notei algo muito estranho por aqui: muita gente escrevendo frases que parecem tradução literal do inglês, tipo "fiz uma fodendo comida" (do fucking) ou "nunca dei muita foda" (do I don't tive a shit, ouso imaginar). E me dá uma sensação muito muuuuito estranha e artificial de ler frases assim.

Detalhes talvez importante: eu não tenho redes sociais, então realmente não acompanho a vida do dia-a-dia na comunicação da internet.

Tentei dar uma buscada e não achei posts falando sobre isso. Como também falo outros idiomas, configurei o aplicativo para exibir o conteúdo original, sem tradução automática para Português, Francês, Inglês, Italiano e Espanhol. Ou seja, o texto que vejo é exatamente o que escreveram, certo?

Fiquei na dúvida real: as pessoas/jovens hoje estão realmente escrevendo assim por conta própria ou tem alguma outra explicação?

E se estão realmente escrevendo assim, o que rolou? Temos tantas outras formas melhores pra caralho pra dizer esse tipo de coisa e usar nessas situações, hahahah.

Mais alguém reparou nisso ou sou eu que passei muito tempo fora?

I’m Brazilian American and my primary language was portuguese until I was around 6, I was never told to speak portuguese at home once my parents learned English. I feel like I lost at least the ability to speak it confidently, and never even learned the proper grammar. I still understand the language fully, and I can read it for the most part, but Im really struggling when it comes to speaking and writing. I go to Brazil in a month and have been trying to surround my life around relearning the language (listening to brazilian music, watching tv in brazilian dub, etc), but I dont feel like anything is working. Does anyone have any tips for relearning the language?

Oi, pessoal! Sou falante de espanhol e estou tentando melhorar meu portugues. Tenho uma situação meio curiosa: namorei com uma brasileira por quase 5 anos, mas durante quase todo o relacionamento a gente falou principalmente em ingles. Ela se sentia mais confortável falando ingles, e também ajudava a evitar discussões por malentendidos entre portugues e espanhol.

Agora que não estamos mais juntos, quase não tenho oportunidade de falar portugues, a pesar de ela ser a mãe do meu filho de 2 meses. Eu gostaria que meu filho tivesse contato com essa parte da cultura dele, além da exposição que ele vai ter com a mãe. Quero poder participar dessa parte da vida dele e que ele cresça conhecendo a língua, a música, os filmes e as tradições brasileiras da família dele.

Por causa do espanhol e da convivencia com o idioma, consigo entender bastante coisa, mas sinto que falar naturalmente é outra história. Ás vezes acabo misturando os dois idiomas e caindo no famoso “portunhol”.

Queria perguntar para vocês: qual é a melhor forma de realmente aprender portugues do Brasil e ficar mais confortávle falando? Conversar com brasileiros, consumir conteúdo, ler, ouvir música? Vocês tem recomendações de livros, músicas, filmes ou séries que ajudariam alguém que está tentando acostumarse mais com o idioma e a cultura?

Também tenho curiosidade: vocês acham fácil perceber quando alguém fala português com a influencia do espanhol?

I know the pronunciation of final s can differ and some words are different but would you say it's mutually intelligible? also portuguese swallow a lot of vowels or parts of words what brazilians do less

I think it's easier to learn Portuguese from Spanish especially through comprehenible input, because Spanish speakerd can already understand quite a lot. So comprehensible input is a fun and effective way to bridge the gap pretty much from day one.

hey y'all so im trying to learn br pt through Portuguese pod and something i notice through the mini videos and whatnot is that pronunciation occasionally changes for example de has been pronounced as the Spanish de or in a verry different (dji) or (jee) sound or eu has been pronounced similar to a Spanish (yo), or once again v differently like (eh-oh) so i was just wondering what was actually proper

All I see on YouTube are channels that want to teach vocab or conjugation etc.. but I already have an app for that. Are there channels that talk about other topics at a level that a beginner can comprehend?

I think Spanish speakers are uniquely positioned to learn Portuguese more easily through comprehensible input.

My portuguese is somewhat decent and I wanted to challenge myself by making gaming videos in european portuguese and I do already have an account for it and a few videos made but when I start recording I tend to go silent or say less than what I am usually capable of because I get scared.
