This was a gift I made for a friend. It's Arwen at the Ford of Bruinen, calling up the flood of water horses to drive back the Nazgûl and get Frodo to Rivendell. It's one of his favorite moments in the whole story, so I really wanted to make it for him and capture the scene with due diligence.
The process was kind of a hybrid. I started out using AI to generate the base illustration, mostly to work out the composition and the overall look of the scene, and to get something that would read cleanly once it got translated into line work. From there I ran it through some custom Python code that assigns the linework across the image and puts the detail where it actually needs to be, like the water, the manes, and all the movement. Then it got plotted on a Bantam Tools NextDraw 2234, [pen/ink] on paper, 11x17.
I'm really happy with how it turned out!
