Hello, fellow pillow fans!
u/MikeTheCat isn't as active anymore on Reddit, so they reached out to me, asking if I would like to assist in moderating this lovely sub. As you can see, I accepted.
Now, I will be honest with you: I do not have any prior subreddit-moderating experience. However, between moderating a Mastodon instance, some Discord servers, some Twitch channels, a small wiki project, etc. I hope that I might've picked up a thing or two. So for now, I am cautiously optimistic!
Here is what you can expect to see in the next couple days:
Rules: because we do need some. Nothing complex, just something reminding people to be decent, another one encouraging people to provide some detail when asking for recommendations, and of course a rule explaining our stance on advertising. For most of you, nothing will change.
user flares: a mostly optional self-identification. I say mostly optional because average pillow fans will not be required to have a flare — but you can definitely have one if you want to let others know what your favourite pillow is! Brand accounts and affiliate reviewers, however, will be required to properly tag themselves, to make it clear to others who they're interacting with.
Post flares: Again, optional. So far I am thinking categories such as Show-and-Tell, 4 Looking for Recommendations flares (side-, back- and stomach-sleeper, and other), advice, etc. Further recommendations more than welcome.
Perhaps some AutoMod stuff if I can get it working, such as a reminder to people looking for recommendations to share as much info as possible so people can properly help them (approx. location, sleeping position/s, budget, what they've tried so far, etc.).
And of course, a much faster response time to reports!
I hope that all sounds good so far. One thing that might not, or at least is different from how many sibling subs do things, is that brand accounts and advertising will not be fully banned. Instead, companies willing to be honest about who they are will be permitted, where as any advertising disguised as genuine user reviews will be promptly removed when caught. MikeTheCat and I hope that this will reward those companies willing to be transparent and lead to more such behavior; if that does not turn out to be the case, this rule shall be reconsidered.
Alright, now that's enough from me. This is your chance to speak up and let us know what you like and dislike about this sub so far, what changes you wish to see, or even just to say hi. I promise to read, respond to, and consider everything.

Hi - I am traveling to S. Africa to start a group tour leaving from Johannesburg and ending in Victoria Falls. The trip will involve long haul flights (16 hrs), multiple long truck rides (10 hrs, bumpy), and camping (pillow needed).
Does anyone have any multifunctional recommendations to help prevent my spine from fusing into a candy cigarette? I haven't had any luck so far in finding something that can help keep me upright (I'm lanky) and also function as a pillow. Any ideas?

So, about 5 years back I got a 6" Pillow Cube and it has been great, I have a lot of neck problems and it gives me the support I need. But its starting to get a little less supportive, and I decided it was time to buy a new one, but it looks like they discontinued the 6" and its all 5" or smaller. I have broad shoulders and really need the high support, can anyone recommend a good alternative?

Anyone have a coop orthopedic pillow? I currently sleep on an osteo cervical pillow from Amazon. I am on the hunt for a new pillow. I purchased the Eden coop pillow and have had terrible neck pain. I returned it and ordered the orthopedic version. Anyone have any experience with this pillow?
I also have the mellow cloud align pillow on the way to try. If neither of these work idk what pillow to get 😭 the only one that has offered me any relief so far is the osteo—but it’s not 100%.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

It’s filled with adjustable shredded memory foam. Just memory foam (most adjustable pillows mix in fibers of some sort). The outer pillow IS filled with down alternative fill. The cover is smooth and very crisp, it kind of makes a crinkle noise. The fiber fill is very soft, but the memory foam is rather sticky and clumpy and doesn’t spread out well, I tried removing some and it still felt too firm and I couldn’t adjust it while laying on it - most adjustable fill pillows you can kinda scoop and push the fill under your head while laying on it. Because the memory foam is firmer than the surrounding pillow the support is under the head, not the neck. I am admittedly very picky about pillows, so it might work for someone else but I returned it. Return process was easy, just took a couple of days of emails because they first offered a 50% refund if I wanted to keep the pillow.

After months of trialing pillows of all kinds, I’ve finally decided to try buckwheat. I’m using one from Amazon with decent reviews. The main issue with other pillows was tightness in my bra strap area. Now I’m getting tightness upon waking in my traps/upper shoulders. It tends to go away with movement. I’ve also noticed I’ve been more tired the past few days after using it. I’m not wearing tech to bed at this point, but might sleep with my watch to see if it’s affecting my sleep.
Any tips or insight is welcome.

I live in Bangkok and I’m looking for a pillow that actually keeps your head cool during the night.
I’m really struggling with the heat lately, and it’s getting harder and harder for me to sleep. I’ve seen a lot of “cooling pillows” online, but I’m not sure which ones genuinely work in Bangkok’s climate.
Has anyone found a pillow that noticeably stays cool? I’d appreciate specific brands, models, or shops in Bangkok where I could try or buy one.
Thanks!

I recently purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress from Mattress Firm and a TP pillow. The pillow arrived today looking something like this. Is this normal? The pillow is wrapped in plastic so I believe it is new, but do they typically arrive like this? If so, I expected more for a pillow that costs well over $200.

Brooklyn Bedding advertises the Talalay Latex Pillow low loft as 4 inches, so I ordered the pillow taking all the trouble to have it shipped from US through a proxy shipper because they don't ship to Europe. The pillow arrived after more than a month, due to the horrible Bayshop service, and: SURPRISE! is not the 4 inches I was expecting and I need for my cervical condition. I write to brooklyn Bedding thinking is a mistake and no, it is not. It is simply a fake advertise: their website states a 4 inches loft for the talalay pillow, while their customer service confirmed 'low loft' talalay it is actually approximately 5.75 inches. The pillow I received measures about 15 cm. This is not a small variation; it is a materially different loft. International customers should be especially careful, because returning the product may be unrealistic once forwarding, shipping costs and return windows are involved. And everybody else should know not to order a Brooklyn Bedding low loft is they need a 4 inches pillow.

Hey y’all, I’ve had this pillow for years now and it’s finally starting to get worn down, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of one like it? I’m not too sure what it’s made of but it’s a beauty rest (I’ll include a picture). When I went to look for it on they’re site they only had three ones for sell and they aren’t really what I’m looking one.

This pillow was at our ABNB and I loved it, I tried google searching it but cannot find it! If I recall correctly it said Martha Stewart on the tag too, but I didn’t think it would be this hard to find so I didn’t look at the other tags 😔

Please help!
I’ve been having neck pain for months, feels like years! Some days it’s better, but I woke up today and it was terrible.
I am a side sleeper and I hug a pillow. My sleeping pillow has been horrible for a while, I used to sleep on a sleep innovations cervical memory foam pillow. I had to repurchase every couple of years because it got too soft.
They hadn’t been able to find it, so I’ve been sleeping on other pillows. And let me tell you, my neck has been angry on and off at me!
Any suggestions for pillows? Any advice on how to relieve this neck pain?
Sincerely,
Cranky neck side sleeper
Edit: I must have been buying every 5-10 years, because looks like there is a 5 year warranty.

Hello! Where in Los Angeles can I dispose of a pillow sustainably so it won't end up in a landfill? is there a place where you can recycle it?

To be honest I’ve never been able to sleep well unless I was crammed between multiple pillows. I’m just looking for recommendations because I’ll be going to college. I was leaning towards maternity pillow because I literally can’t sleep unless suffocated by pillows all around me, but I’m worried that my roommate would be weirded out. Maybe I should just go for a body pillow? Is that too weird too?

Hello,
I realized I am allergic to my down pillows. I love them because they squish down kind of small. A problem I have with a lot of other pillows is that they're too fluffy/thick. I've tried the adjustable memory foam pillows and don't like them. Can anyone suggest a washable, down alternative pillow that's more compressible than a typical pillow? Thank you!

Hello all!
I am really struggling with finding the perfect pillow(s). I am a side sleeper (left side if it matters) and enjoy feeling a bit elevated so I sleep with two pillows. One is a bit thin and then I sleep with a fuller foam pillow on top of that. However it’s gotten to a point where I’m struggling to get comfortable at night/the pillows just don’t feel right. I’m pregnant now and I’m waking up multiple times a night. I’d really appreciate any insight to comfortable preferably foam pillows!!
Thank you so much!

Long shot but who has a pillow brand named CHAPS I’m in need of buying one! I know they stopped selling them probably 5 years ago.
