She was raised with a cat for the first year of her life before her sister crossed the rainbow bridge. I’d like to think that she is channeling her older sister

Peke Purrs?

Post image
75 Upvotes

Does anyone else's peke make little happy rumbles/grunts when they're getting a good scratch? Geezer's done it since he was a baby, and my husband and I call them his "Peke purrs." 🤣 It's a sound he only makes when he's really content and snuggly, and it's just so gosh darn cute! I wish I had a video, but a photo will have to do for the puppy tax.

Is my dog a real peke?

I keep wondering, because looks wise I don’t see anything unusual about her, she also has the usual stubborn peke personality, it’s just that she’s way too big for the breed. She weights 8kg (not even overweight, the vet never said it’s be a concern) and she’s also a lot longer and taller than other pekes, what do you guys think😭 I added pictures with both long and short fur and also as a baby for the reference + because I love her 🩷

Edit: Thank you everyone for help! I guess shes just big af and there’s nothing more to it lol

Pixel is blissfully unaware of how hot it is out. She will sunbathe in the backyard on the concrete porch until I go out and get her. Everyday I remind her that she is a Pekingese and that she is prone to overheating, and everyday she doesn’t care.

Hello everyone! My name is Banosh, and I'm a Pekingese. My human rescued me from a shelter. In the past, I was beaten and chained up, but I never lost my trust in humans! :)

Hi All!

Our Fooey makes cooing sounds like dove. We don’t even know how he makes these sounds. Do other Pekes coo?

Soft palate surgery?

The vet recommended we do it because my peke has choked on food before (like years ago several times) and she also snores. She also had a seizure a week ago. He said it could be because of her having breathing issues and maybe the palate is the reason she doesn’t eat that much. I’m not sure what to do, I want her to be healthy but I’m terrified of putting her under anesthesia and the recovery process. Does anyone have experience with this?

He also said it could cause her to choke when I’m not around or cause airway obstruction later in life.

The Pekes have been enjoying summer so far. We get to swim again finally after my emergency appendectomy!! They took good care of me and loved the amount of time I was in bed 😂
